Dwight Howard is being fitted for a knee brace that he will wear during practices, and the Magic will closely monitor the star's activity after an MRI on Tuesday showed he has inflammation in his knee.

He might also practice less, with the club opting to sit him at times.

Howard missed the last two games on the Magic's five-game road trip after experiencing pain.

The Magic said an MRI revealed no serious damage, only an inflammation or arthritis in the area.

While Howard is expected to play Thursday against San Antonio and it doesn't sound serious, he has missed several practices this season because of the knee.

At 23, it's never a good sign when a player --- especially one such as Howard, who relies so much on his jumping ability --- has a knee issue.

Howard's defense of his all-star slam-dunk title could also be in jeopardy, if not his participation in the all-star game. It might all depend on how he feels when the weekend rolls around Feb. 15. He currently leads all players in all-star voting.

Hope its nothing serious. Dude's a phenom, would hate to see his play hampered. Would really be sad.

Ugh, it sucks when anyone has a knee injury, but especially someone with the talent, potential and personality of Dwight Howard.

Good luck on returning to health big man

Yeah I don't like to see stars miss games when playing other elite teams.

Hope it's not serious. Dwight's game relies so much on athleticism, if he blew out his knee he could turn into just a role player.
