View Full Version : Chauncey Billups hall of fame chances

Chauncey Billups has gone from top 5 bust to top 5 point guard and one of the most clutch players in the league. He makes teammates better and plays excellent defense. He has clearly outplayed first ballot hall of famer Allen Iverson. But is he a hall of famer? I think he's borderline, he needs to either win another title or leave Denver and make another team a lot better proving Denver and Detroit weren't flukes. I don't think he's a first ballot guy, but in the right year he could get in. Thoughts?

Great player, but like you said, not a first ballot guy.. maybe later on though.

He's a finals MVP and a premier player. He's a HOFer in my book.

He's definately a first ballot HOFer stats championship leadership what else do you need?

He'll get in.

Chauncey is a great player...but one of the best ever? I don't think so.

He will be later on.....With what he'd accomplished so far....As long as he doesn't become a bad apple like Steph, I see him becoming one.....

Joe Dumars is a HOFer and Billups is nearly as good as him....so I think he will be perhaps....the fact that he's playing at this level at this age will stick in people's minds to go along with those Pistons teams and the Finals MVP....

He'll probably get in, but he won't stick out

as of right now i'd say no. If he can pad up his stats and contribute heavily to another title win he could be borderline. As of right now hes just another Dennis Johnson...

IMO he is just a good player, nothing more, nothing less.

So far no.... but if he can keep up the same stats for a few more years and lead Denver into the playoffs he will get in.

IMO he is just a good player, nothing more, nothing less.

Easily, hes been so underrated throughout his career he might not get 1st ballot

Not close to first ballot. Perhaps he gets in one day. He is a very good solid player. But great? eh...

I think he deserves it. He is a great player but no one gives him credit for it. Just look at the subtleties of his game and you'll see he's probably the best team leader in the game.

he has virtually no chance

I say how could you deny him the HOF at this point? NBA Finals MVP, NBA Champion, multiple All-Star apparences and just when you think he didn't have much left in him he goes to Denver and turns thier whole organization around damn near over night, isn't Denver number 2 in the west right now behind only the Lakers? He isn't a guy that blows you away and makes jaw droppin gplays like that of a Michael Jordan, LeBron or Kobe but if there was a place for Billy Cunningham, Dan Issel, and Jerry Lucas who can say Chauncey doesn't deserve to be there.
