It seems this year more than most years that there is a significant gap between the dominant teams and the good teams. I think it's the general opinion that the Celtics, Lakers, and Cavs appear to be the three best teams in the NBA THIS year.

So after those three teams, rank who you think to be the five best teams THIS year.

It's really a toss up....Denver, Houston, San Antonio, Utah, Orlando, Detroit, and the Hornets....pick two and they will all get demolished by the top 3 teams in a 7 game series at this point....

I would say...

4. Denver
5. Orlando
6. Houston
7. Utah
8. Portland (I Believe!)

If we're talking about likelihood to make a playoff run then I would say

4) San Antonio
5) Utah
6) New Orleans
7) Orlando
8) Denver

If we're talking about best regular season record then I won't even guess. The 2nd-8th seeds in the West are so up for grabs this year it's ridiculous.

Houston, San Antonio and the Jazz have been far from full strength, when those teams finally heal up the West will be wide open.

Can't see Detroit or San Antonio making any impact in the longrun, Denver and Orlando for 4th and 5th are looking very good.

I think Denver is really being overrated--by the end of this month they will probably drop 6 or 7 spots out West in the standings. For me I think its:
4. NO
5. UT
6. ORL
7. S.A.
8. HOU

I like the Jazz and Spurs after the top 3.... Houston and NO have the ability, but haven't proven anything yet.

Well since Denvers going to be so terrible later on, just let people OVERRATE them since they've been UNDERRATED forever, and just sit back and enjoy that you know the future failure of the Nuggets this season.

if you think the lakers will "demolish" the spurs or houston (not so much houston) then you havent been a fan of the nba very long because you can never count the spurs out in any series

And the Spurs are obviously the same team from 5 years ago.
