Worst starting allstar in history IMO. How could Stern let this happen? He just wants the chinease money, if he and yao make it every TV in China will be on that game, I bet you stern rigs it. Ok I'm not that cynical but it'd definately be fishy if Yi makes it, and I'm a knicks fan I know Stern has rigged before

I really dont think Yi will make it over Garnett or Lebron in the East, so we're safe this year I hope. But like Giaps said, once Garnett retires, or leaves the East, we should hope that Bosh or someone else in the East forwards category is popular globally, or else we'll probably see Yi in a lot of Allstar games, even though he doesnt deserve it.

I'd love to see him start, and the coach yank him out in the first dead ball, and never put him back in the game, lol.

Either completely take the fans out of the equation or give them a percentage vote for the starters.

For example: the winner of the fan votes stands for 2 votes towards the coaches, writers, etc voting them in but it doesn't guarantee they'll make it in. Being an all-star in the NBA will cease to mean anything if this continues.

If u have fan voting it is going to be about favorite players not always all the best. Like in hockey right now, there may be a staying eastern conference of all Montreal players, why? This is because it will be in Montreal. So if you don't like the results then you must agree that they get rid of fan voting.

Bynum is still better then Okur. Voting doesn't determine anything. Like Yi over Bosh. :laugh2:

Bynum has a much higher ceiling, is younger and a better big man then Okur. Points is irrelevant here considering both Boozer and Williams have been out for some time. He HAD to step up. Bynum on the other hand is on a team which scores the most points per game in the NBA. A 1.9 point differential isn't that far off anyway.

Bynum averages more rebounds per game (despite having another 7th footer next to him in Pau Gasol AND in only 30 MPG compared to Okur's 34). More blocks per game, a higher EFF rating, more APG (go figure), less TO per game and a much higher FG%.

Bynum>Okur

I kinda like that idea.

No Wizards are on there, well ones that are playing at least.

as they shouldn't be. Caron and Jamison are playing great and all, but when you have 4 wins, should you really be considered an all star? This reminds me of two or maybe three years ago when Kidd and Vince were all star starters even though there team was either right at or below .500

Chauncey at 9th among guards in the West is way too low.

I hope Yi does win. Because then the fan backlash would be strong enough that the league would be forced to change this ludicrous system which is in no way based on merit. What is needed is for the fans to demand to the NBA, "For god's sake, can't you see we're not qualified to do this? Take away our vote already!"

Or something like that.

superkegger
12-12-2008, 02:20 AM
While 9th in the west is too low for billups, it is understandable, as hes not getting the loyal detroit fans votes...Chauncey just doesn't have the personal fan base a guy like iverson does. oh well, it happens, his revenge will be a playoff success.

as far as Yi, its either something we have to live with, or something the NBA has to change, I think the NBA will change it, because regardless of whether Yi makes the starting line up or not, which i don't think he will, one with sense would think that the NBA would want to nip this in the butt before it became an actual problem. But that would be the NBA making a sensible call. nevermind.

No, I understand why he's not up higher, I'm just saying it's not right that he's not up higher. In terms of accomplishments so far this season, I'd rank the West guards like this:

Chris Paul
Kobe Bryant
Chauncey Billups
Brandon Roy
Tony Parker
Manu Ginobili
Jason Kidd
Steve Nash
Tracey McGrady
Deron Williams

And I'm not trying to diss any of the guys on the lower portion of my list, but so many of them have been hit by injuries which have limited their ability to produce so far this season. But only one player on that list has singlehandedly transformed his team from a first-and-outer to a, well, near-contender I think would be fair to say... and that's Billups.

Agreed and he'll be on the team, I have no doubts. If he's not, shame on Phil Jackson.

Phil Jackson has no bearing on who is on the team, besides his vote along with every other Western Conference coach...

I'd love to see him start, and the coach yank him out in the first dead ball, and never put him back in the game, lol.
