Your just gonna get a ton of *****ing.

I dont think there is a clear cut favorite.

The only way to justify this is to go top 5.

1.Halladay
2.Webb
3.Peavy
4.Sabathia
5.Harden/Haren/ sure theres more you could justify putting up there.

Halladay he is durable as they come
Regularly throws CGs and a consistently mid 2- low 3 ERA

Tim Lincecum is the most dominant pitcher in baseball. More than any other listed. Not being a homer. Just telling you the facts.

Santana and Halladay

From that list:

Johan
Halladay
CC
Lincecum
Webb
Hamels

Can't really be sure why Peavy isn't on the poll.

If you have to convince yourself that your not a homer, chances are, your a homer...

Halladay is the best, followed by Santana, followed by Sabathia, then Lincecum, Webb, Hamels

I think Santana is still number 1...followed by Doc, CC, and Lincecum probably in that order...not really sure why Hamels is in the poll

Halladay.

Though, Lincecum, very soon, will be the man I choose.

For me, it depends on the circumstances.

Pitcher I want on the mound to win a game in late Spetember: CC Sabathia

Pitcher I want on the mound to win game 7 of the WS: probably Santana.

Halliday would leap both on my list, but I really haven't seen what he would do in the playoffs (I know that it's not like Sanatna has had all the PO experience in the world, but some guys you just give the benefit of the doubt to).

Lince and Hamels are on the list somewhere, without question. But it's a bit too early for me to anoint them just yet.

So you would rather have Harden and Haren over Santana, Lincecum or Hamels???????

To me this is Halladay and Santana....they have the best track records and statistically speaking....have been the best.

Looks like I broke the tie between Johan and Roy.

Had to go with Halladay...

Tough question. Let me preface it by saying that I would feel very confident having either on the hill. Santana has put up an already impressive career, spanning more years than Hamels' (obviously), so it's tough to vote against him. However, Hamels proved this postseason that he is both a force to be reckoned with and has ice running through his veins. Since I have seen Cole dismantle my Dodgers (who looked really good going into that series, and I mean that to credit the your Phils), I guess I would be remiss to not give my support to Cole. Plus, the whole WS MVP thing helps his case.

I can't really believe I'm saying it, but probably Cole Hamels. You guys have a great young pitcher in that kid, and not only that, but a winner. I know a lot of people don't want top give credit to "clutch", but some guys just win, and he wins.

Tough to choose between Santana or Halladay, so I went with Johan because I'm a homer and I wanted it to be tied.

I think Roy Halladay is the best...and I love him....

BUT i chose Hamels based on his age, contract and he is a lefty....also, his ability is amazing

at this point i would rather have him to build my team around

Everybody talks about how dominant Tim Lincecum is. He plays in a cery weak devision. Also in the most pitcher friendly ballpark in baseball. Plus he plays in the national league. And wheres King Felix. And you forgot about john lester.Peter Gammons says Lester if you look at all his stats was the best lefty in baseball why isnt he their. John Lester is way better than Cole , and he did better than Sabathia last year. This kinda irratates me cause although halladay is consistantly one of the best pitchers in baseball your missing a lot of great pitchers.

The original question was posed over a year ago, explaining why Lester isn't on it.

I don't know how you can make an argument for Hamels or Webb being the best. They're good, but better than everybody else?

edit: Oh, someone bumped a very old topic.

I'm too lazy to look it up but I believe Lincecum has better numbers than Halladay, but I'd still go with the Doc personally.

wow, this is an old thread. based on the last couple of years, i would say halladay because he is the only pitcher in baseball that throws that many cg anymore. although sabathia and lincecum could aslo make strong arguments. if the list was done today, hamels would not even be in the discussion after his poor year last year.
