The Jazz. Oh wait...they already did it without Deron. And then without Boozer they still have Millsap and AK off the bench. Pretty deep team.

Lakers if you take off Kobe Bynum and Gasol can keep them afloat the 7th or 8th spot in west.

Rockets they won 26 or so in a row mostly without Yao and now they have Artest.

Jazz they showed it when they didn't have Deron or Boozer.

Celtics take off Pierce or KG there still a 45-50 win team.

Denver you take off Melo they might win more though Melo been more team then himelf this season

Teams that can afford to lose one of their two first options and still make it to the Playoffs.

Lakers,Suns,Rockets,Spurs,Mavs,Blazers,Jazz.

Celtics,Sixers,Pistons.

The Lakers without Kobe are probably still better than those Grizzlies teams Pau Gasol led thoughout his career.

Any team that falls apart without their superstar isnt a legit contender in the league. Remember how the Celtics did last year when KG missed games? Thats how GOOD your team has to be, in order to win the title.

to a degree yes.

But is this question asking if its over a 10 game period, or an entire season?

Take KG off Boston or Kobe off LA for the season, and those teams aren't going anywhere. Sure they might make the playoffs, but they wouldn't advance very far. Take any superstar off his team for the season and that team, they don't make it very far. Sure they might sustain for a time without them, but over the course of 82 games, they couldn't sustain that high level.

Just look at the wizards.

The lakers would still get 52 wins without Kobe. Insert LO, and Farmar with fisher, gasol, & bynum. The lakers will be a 3-4 seed worst case.

That's a bit of a stretch...I'd say 6th seed at best.

Well thats the point of being on an elite team, take any star off of his team and they suck, think about how bad the Hawks would be or are when either Josh Smith or Joe Johnson miss games. The margin for error is smaller on bad teams, the fact that the Lakers could be so good without Kobe is why they are so great with him.

What about the Wizards?

People liked to say they were better without arenas, and they did sustain last year w/o him for some long periods of time. But in the long run, they're simply not as good without him. (I know that Haywood has been missed big time this year too, but I would find it hard to believe if you told me they would be just as bad were gil here from the start and healthy).

Good clarification but that is impossible, mostly the fact about winning without Kobe. If even the team thought this last year Kobe would not have played through that finger injury. Gasol is ok but not without another major star. Same thing with Bynum

Fisher = or > Jason Williams.

Odom = Battier

Bynum >>> Stromile Swift.

If he lead the Grizzlies to the playoffs TWICE with such players why wouldnt he do so with THIS players?

Laker's are deepest, most talent in the NBA.
Take kobe out and they still make playoffs easily.
In fact trade kobe for Lebron or Wade & look for a title.

If they started the NBA season without Kobe... I don't think they would EASILY make the playoffs. If you give them their record right now... yes they probably still make the playoffs. The West is still 9 teams strong. If any of those teams lost their star, I wouldn't have them as better than any of the other 8...

you dont know basketball...since melo has been on the nuggets they have never missed the playoffs. he has been the reason why they make it each year. it is only now that he has a healthy team to back him up.
