We have aquired Jack Wilson from the Pirates. Have not seen any other news on the matter but will update as I see it.

Good move in my opinion. Depending on who we gave them.

OK move if we didn't give up anything of substance. Even better if Pitt picked up some of the contract.

That was an early print. Now it looks like we have decided to go with Adam Everett as a stop gap.

Adam Everett is a cop out. Really? Why wouldn't you just go with Santiago and a young guy rather than that. You'll get about the same production. An Everette signing would really take away the fun of the off season for me. What, would a Farnsworth re-signing be the follow up to an excellent off season.

Everett does nothing for me. As mentioned, we may as well go with Santiago and bring up one of the kids if Everett is the best we can do.

The Tigers have a need for a starting SS.. the Rays have a need for a corner outfielder..

The Tigers may be able to acquire Reid Brignac from the Rays for Jeff Larish.. would solve both teams problems..

What say you?

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pirates are seeking either OF Matt Joyce or 1B Jason Larish from the Tigers in a trade for Jack Wilson.

A pitching prospect would also be tied in. Joyce, 24, hit .252 with 12 dingers and 33 RBI in 92 games for the Tigers last season. Larish, 26, hit .250 with 21 homers and 60 RBI for Triple-A Toledo. The Tigers may not be willing to part with either of them unless the Pirates pick up some of the $7.85 million Wilson is owed next season.

I would say no to that. MAYBE if they picked up a good chunk of the contract, but Wilsons pay and health don't excite me. I would give up only a marginal prospect. I say go with Santiago or one of the kids if they tear up spring training.
