Who is the worst? The Suns keep on giving up 40 point games and the Warriors of course played one of the worst defensive games ever and let D-Lee and Chris Duhon go bat crap crazy on them...is anyone worse???

I think Golden State is the worst defensive team. It's a bit strange since they actually have good defensive players like Jackson,Wright,Turiaf,Biendris but the style of play just doesn't allow for defensive stops.

i think it's the kings...the warriors just play the brand of basketball where they will give up a lot of points. our defense is just absolutely horrendous.

Just going by points allowed isn't such an accurate way to measure defense since it doesn't take pace into account. Defensive efficiency (http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/teamstats?sort=defeff&seasonType=2&order=true&league=nba&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fnba %2fhollinger%2fteamstats%3fsort%3ddefeff%26seasonT ype%3d2%26order%3dtrue%26league%3dnba) (how many points allowed for every 100 possessions) hits the mark closer:

1 Sacramento 110.8
2 Washington 109
3 New Jersey 108.7
4 Golden State 107.7
5 New York 107.6
6 Oklahoma 106.8
7 L.A. Clippers 105.1
8 Minnesota 105.1
9 Memphis 104.9
10 Toronto 104.7

So, for example, Chicago plays at the league's 4th fastest pace, so even though they're 7th worst in points allowed, they're actually right in the middle of the league (15th best) in defensive efficiency at 103.4.

What Den said but the Hawks are actually pretty decent when Josh Smith plays, without him they suck.

When we got JO in the lineup we are a lot better.

Out interior D is very good. Our Permierter D is awful

Knicks and Warriors hate defense (they think it spoils the game)

Whom ever mike'd or nelly coached lol.... Its a pust between these guys. Id say the knicks since we give up the most points in the nba "108 ppg"

Hawkeye15
12-01-2008, 01:23 PM
my Wolves are pretty bad. But the Kings are terrible. You can't simply base ppg given up as the stat, many teams like GS and the Knicks have far more posessions than the Spurs for instance, because they run non stop. But, that list is pretty right on in most cases.

If I didnt like Star Wars so much I wouldnt have responded to this, but thanks though youve come along way in a short amount of time. Possession analysis is the ****, its why Billups has been underrated his entire career and people couldnt imagine the idea of Billups being a better player than Iverson, but he really has been for the past few years.

Ive been meaning to ask about the Raps D, whos mostly at fault, why are you guys so bad, AP was a lockdown defender 2 years ago. Moon looks decent, and after the defense Bosh played in the Olympics I thought the team would take that next step.

Their slipping from last year, Yao isnt up to speed and without Battier and Tmacs pathetic contributions thats a pretty bold statement.

The Kings idea of defense is to let the team score as quickly as possible so we can get the ball back. And this is coming from a Kings fan.
