Title says it all. Pretty ridiculous how many points those teams have put up this half. Those #'s remind me of games back in the 80's.

Not too thread worthy. Just thought a few people would be amused.

Yeah, I noticed Duhon throwing dimes everywhere. He's at 13 right now with 7:30 left in the 3rd.

Skott Skiles has the NBA assists record with 30 in one game. Even though it's a long shot, Duhon could pass him up with 13 more.

Also, 82 was a franchise record for points in a half by NY.

Two teams that can't win because they don't play a hint of defense.

we actually won 8 games this year, suprising for a team that doesn't play a 'hint' of defense

If I remember correctly, the Suns won a lot of regular season games under D'Antoni. Didn't really win much else though...

If I remember correctly, they beat the Lakers in the playoffs a few years in a row...considering only 1 team wins a championship a year, I'd say D'antoni did fairly well in his 4 years as PHX coach...

Yes they did, but the Lakers were hardly a good defensive side then were they? :eyebrow:

What happened every time Phoenix had to play the Spurs? What do you think is going to happen if he doesn't preach defense in NY? They're not getting past the Celtics.

He did OK in Phoenix, but he refused to change his style to win a championship. That's not the type of guy you want running your team.

If it wasn't for the suspensions it is very realistic to think they would have won that series, if Amare wasn't injured the year they went to the WCF who knows what woulda happened, and the Spurs beat everyone, they were the better team, you can't blame the series loss on D'antoni not wanting Shaq or to defer to Steve Kerr's philosophy, many factors come into a playoff series

If they went a whole season with Amare, and still got to the WCF, then his absence can't be used as an excuse (just like the Lakers with Bynum). The suspensions definately were terrible, but it doesn't change the games they played with Amare in the line-up.

Whichever way you look at it, the Spurs were able to dictate the pace, and the Suns lack of defense cost them in close games, because the Spurs can execute their offense and lock down on defense. The Suns could score a ton of points, but then couldn't come up with the stops when they needed them.

Which brings us back to the Knicks. They may be able to score a ton, but against the real good teams, that can play slower, half court games, they're mostly likely going to trip up like the Suns.
