NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!! Beckett is a big game pitcher and up until this season where he was hurt for alot of it he was a legit ace. He's been a world series MVP in Florida and he couldve been a world series MVP for the BoSox, and he won 20 games 2 seasons ago.

Burnett is a .500 pitcher who got a lot of run support last season and managed to have his first significant winning record. He is injury prone and a headcase who has no confidence in any of his pitches and nibbles beyond belief. He is a 3 starter at best.

How is Beckett overrated? When healthy is our ace and one of best 15 or so pitchers in baseball, thats not too shabby at all.

Well theres your key.

And Beckett isnt really the definition of consistency.

I would pick him over Burnett though

He's had one ace season.

One ace season does not put you among the leagues best. Cliff Lee is not among the leagues best after his monster year. It'll take consistency.

a joke right? Beckett is amazing in the post season, filled with talent and not an injury prone jerk like Burnett. Burnett is a me first player and a troublemaker. Beckett is a for the team first player that gives his all and works his asre off. Hell of a talent and abilities too. He is a legit 1-2 in the mlb where burnett is never healthy for a full year even to be considered a top 3 type pitcher. His stuff is great but he never progressed fully and always misses time and has attitude issues.

If we're talking about 2008, AJ. If it's based on their careers, Beckett.

AJ was the worst sp in toronto's rotation for 2/3 of the season. Don't let the W and K's fool ya into thinking he had an amazing season.

The last 2 seasons where he had his highest IP seasons, the following year, he was toast.

That all depends on what you are basing "consistency" off of, looking just purely at ERA it could appear that way. The only really bad year he has had so far was in 2006, every other year he has performed quite well believe or not.

Total 8.56 2.81 3.05 0.95 0.244 1.22 0.301 72.30% 3.61

Check his FIP, looks pretty damn consistent to me. All his peripherals usually stay within the same range as well.

Absolutely not............

At what point did Burnett, when healthy, show as good of a season as Beckett in 2007?

How? We've seen what Beckett can do when he's healthy, and we've seen what Burnett can do when he's healthy. It's Beckett by a pretty wide margin.
