View Full Version : Does Dallas Need a Shake-Up?

Its clear that da Mavs arnt goin anywhere this yr. With that being said and Cuban being their owner i think there will be a trade in Dallas coming real soon. Overall we know that the Jason Kidd trade didnt work. So I think Cuban should blow it up. Trade Kidd. Also with Cuban being a high risk high reward guy i think he should trade Kidd to NY for Marbury and another player possibly David Lee. Cuban already talked about how he wants Marbury on the team and if the knicks release him which i doubt they do he would go after him. I know Kidd is the better player but I don't think Marbury is finished he worked out all summer and is in arguably the best shape of his life. If it doesnt work with Marbury hes contract runs out at the end of the season anyway same as Kidds. So do you think that the trade will happen or if its a fair deal.

I think they should rebuild on the fly. They should trade Dirk, for a young talent, and draft picks. And I mean a real young talent. Kidd comes off the books this summer, but Terry needs to go if possible for a shorter contract. Howard is damaged goods right now, they will need to wait on him. But they could play is smart, and trade Dirk while his value is still thru the roof.

Blow it up, Dallas can't be revived. Trade Dirk for draft picks. Perhaps, if Dirk can play SF trade him to Utah for their Knick's 2010 pick, and spare parts.

and the Marbury thing, are you crazy??? Losing and poor chemistry seem to be a terminal disease with him. Let Kidd's contract expire, then resign him for way less. He isn't stupid, he knows he won't command that money anymore. You could probably get him for $7 million a year over 3 years.

do u really think Cuban would trade Dirk??? I dont think so Cuban is dillusional n he will keep Dirk at all costs but Cuban said he would sign him if NY release him so wat if they dont release him would he be willing to do this trade

I was never a fan of Dirk and Howard leading a team. And Kidd just can't keep up with the quick guards of the west. They all seem tradeable if they want to rebuild. I believe all those deals all expire during LeBron's magical offseason. Then Terry also has a lot of value. I still can't believe that this team made the finals a few years ago.

This is a legit discussion. The Mavs obviously need to rebuild and/or need to consider it. This should be a good discussion and there is no reason for a lock.

I'm sorry, I think the question of "What should Dallas do?" is legit enough so that I shouldn't close the thread, but I'll change the title to a question so it's more open-ended.

And it is of course true that pointless bashing is not necessary - if you're going to make criticisms, please back them up, folks.

I think Dirk has to go.

Right when they traded Devin Harris for Kidd, I thought the downfall for the Mavs was gonna start, and it has.

Firesale.. it's a good time for it too because teams like Utah, Denver, Spurs and Suns need more talent to compete with the Lakers.

Dallas needs to try and trade Kidd for Tmac...

Jet
Tmac
Howard
Dirk
Diop

Houston gets to run:
Kidd
Artest
Battier
Scola
Yao

Kidd, Artest, and Battier are all past NBA First Team All-Defense players...

It would be a win-win situation for both teams.

I like this deal for all 3 teams: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=136~3207~356~3028~2745~181~802&teams=6~6~17~6~17~4~4&te=&cash=

Please!!!

I'll rebuttal that with maybe the Mavs trading Kidd and Howard and future 1st for Kobe.

Gives the Lakers a lineup of
Kidd
Howard
Vlad/Odom
Gasol
Bynum

Mavs
Terry
Kobe
Green
Dirk
Diop

The Mav's are like an under performing stock.
This team should be doing alot better, but somehow they aren't.

I think that heartbreaking loss to Miami in the Finals has had long term effects.

I actually think the Golden State defeat is what affected them more so. With the Miami loss they came out strong and won 67 games the next year.

It's time for Dallas to trade Nowitzki, get rid of Kidd, and go into complete rebuilding mode.

Why even bring up Kobe in a trade? Lakers fans will jump you. They wouldn't trade him straight up for Jesus

Shake-up time.

You guys should trade Dirk... he doesn't look like a guy that can drag a team along in the playoffs.

i think that the mavs lack of off season moves to improve their depth was their ultimate downfall. Oh and idk if dirk is gonna go anywhere, esp this season.

Mavs and spurs both need to disperse and start a rebuilding faze! 5 vets in the line-up was good in the old game but now with all these young superstars in todays game it aint going to fly!

I think they need to move some players and build around one or two guys. I think Dirk should be kept, until Bass can become a legit starter Dirk is the only answer for the 4.
They have a few contracts that are long so they won't be able to blow up the team, Terry and Dampier are going to be their for a long time as will Diop.

I can't say what's wrong with this team because I can't figure it out either.

if i where the Mavs this is what i would do..............
the mavs are possible the hottest team right now winning their past 5 keep their hand on the trigger and if they start to slip pull it. if they make the palyoffs but dont win the championship (which they most likely wont) trade in the offseason. trade dirk and kidd and start rebuilding round J howard maybe get some cap room fo 2010 or some legit peices to complement j howard. but if they are in position to make the playoffs this year give em 1 mo chance.

It seems like there is a new breed of NBA talent and teams like San Antonio and Dallas are getting older, while teams like Utah and New Orleans and more teams are getting better and younger.

It's good for the game IMO.
