View Full Version : Avery Johnson In Oklahoma City's Future?

If things don't go well for Scott Brooks as the head coach of the Thunder, it is believed that Avery Johnson could be in the team's future plans.

Johnson has San Antonio ties with Oklahoma City general manager Sam Presti and played junior college basketball in Oklahoma.

With guys like Kevin Durant, Jeff Green, and Russell Westbrook, two first round picks and $25 million in cap space, the Thunder could become an attractive job.

Ehh could make sense. With Kevin Durant as their foundation, AJ could definitly have some success there, not right away tho of course.

Avery should go to the Raptors when Sam Mitchell gets fired...Chris Bosh is one of my favorite players and the Raptors are not even doing much to help him win.

agreed. with that roster, its a setup just to fire him later and to ruin his win %. hasnt he won like 60% of his games as a coach? the thunder would drop that to a losing record in less than 2 seasons. im with yogi...he could be somewhat successful in washington, or he could just wait out for a team with real winning potential

I met Avery the day after Dallas fired him

The NBA is too quick to fire coaches.

The T-Wolves dumped Saunders the year after he took the team to the WCF.
The Pistons fired after going to back to back conference finals.

Its just crazy.

it would be a okay job

But If Avery needs money he should take the job
but if he doesn't don't take it

Avery has a comfortable job on SC unless they get #1 or 2 pick he stays there with a nice job that wont threaten is great success as a Head Coach.. At same time i think that the Washington Job could be more appealing especially if agent zero sits out and they end season with top 3 pick.

Wouldn't be bad for OKC, but i feel Avery deserves much better.

Avery is the type of coach this young team needs. Short term only tho.
