Jeff McDonald: Manu will play tonight

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Even Spurs coach Gregg Popovich agrees: Manu Ginobili is ready to play.

The Spurs guard, who missed the team's first 12 games while recovering from September ankle surgery, will make his season debut tonight at Memphis, Popovich confirmed after this morning's shootaround.

It was welcome news for Ginobili, who last week had targeted this very game for his return.

Thank you jesus. I don't ask for much often but the first step towards winning games more consistently.

Good for the Spurs. They definitely need the help.

Finally, Spurs could use him to win more games. They're doing well without TP or Manu before so he could help even more.

that's great for the Spurs. Manu's WAY ahead of schedule.

by the end of the season, the Spurs will be one of the top teams again.

I'm just happy because he's in my fantasy team.

The hubbub about The Spurs' demise will once again prove to be somewhat exaggerating.

So glad hes back. Even though it was against Memphis, he looked great last night. Had 12 pts in 11 mins. Doesnt look likes he's lost a step..his first step was still very quick, and get got into the lane at ease last night to either score, or set someone up.

Manu back is good for the league...not many players can beat this guy when it comes to pure creativity with the basketball.

It's great that hes back, but I'm still in the opinion that he should have given the ankle thats plagued him for his entire career a bit more rest.

Good, it's been kinda a weird season so far without the REAL Spurs so far.
