I hope Dayton makes it into the top 25 now with a 6-0 record and the win over Marquette. For those who haven't seen it, check out Chris Wright's dunk from the Dayton/Marquette game. I don't care if you're a Flyer fan or not, it's sick.

Stanford still getting no love....the media seems to have claimed them dead because the Lopez brothers are gone, but they seem to forget Mitch Johnson, Anthony Goods, and Lawrence Hill, all third or fourth year starters Seniors are all still there and playing as good as they have. Another name to watch for - Josh Owens. This kid is an athletic freak on the inside. If Stanford keeps playing the way they are now, they could run the gauntlet undefeated in a relatively easy non-conference schedule.

Yea, and they were picked to finish 9th in the Pac 10, only better than Oregon St. who didn't even win a Pac-10 game next year. I would think they'd get some more national recognition with Johnny Dawkins taking over, but I guess it will happen over time.

Looks like you spoke too soon on the beatdown of Kentucky.

And you better hope that the voters didn't watch the OSU game, because they would've seen a team that is a borderline NIT team without their best player. They lost the game by 5, but they got beat by over 20 points without their best player.

Ignorant comment. A thug because someone hits him in the face and he reacts? Yet i haven't heard a single person call Leonard Washington from USC a "thug" for going after Blake Griffin the way he did. Now that you beat Notre Dame, you should be in the top 25. Based on the Canes win alone, don't think OSU should have been ranked.

I'm pretty sure Miami hasn't played Wisconsin...

I don't care who you were missing. To play as poorly as Miami did without any player against a team like OSU is a significant negative to say the least, and the voters will view it as such.

Borderline NIT team? If this was like 2-3 years ago i'd agree with you here. To say they are a borderline NIT team is ridiculous.

The key words were "without their best player". I understand that they should have McClinton, but again, I think it's so embarrassing how poorly they played without him that it makes the team look quite a bit worse.

So because a 14 point lead was lost without their best player, back up PG and their starter had to play more minutes than he's ever played makes it embarrassing? Team continued to play hard and fight hard. Free throws killed them down the stretch, mostly Dwayne Collins. Disappointing perhaps, tough lost, perhaps but embarrassing, definitely not the word to use.

Get a life and stop hating. Miami has a good team and anyone who thinks otherwise is a Cane hater.

Why are you guys taking my comments so personally? My post was not an attempt at sarcasm or a bash on anyone. Fans of different programs have different expectations. As a Wisconsin football fan, I don't have the same expectations as an Ohio State football fan. As a Wisconsin basketball fan, I don't have the same expectations as a UNC basketball fan. My standards are lesser in both instances. When Wisconsin was first getting on the national scene, my expectations were much lower than they are now. That's just the way it is.

I mean, we're talking about a Hurricane program that made the NCAA tournament last year for the first time in 5+ years. We're talking about a program that is 2 years removed from 12-20. That's why it's understandable that I would consider something embarrassing that you wouldn't. Embarrassing is a subjective term, which is why I said I can understand why you don't agree.

As for being a "Cane hater"; that's just not true. Miami has always been one of my favorite college programs (in basketball too). I think they're a very good team, but seeing them without McClinton really dropped them a notch in my opinion. That performance was poor at best.

I forgot WI sports fan why don't you report me like the little ***** that you are. Did i scare you or something???

OF course expectations are different. Last year the Canes were "expected" to finish last in the ACC and were a few points away from getting to the sweet 16. People in Miami don't expect much. Here in Miami it's mostly a football town, especiallly with the Canes. For me, basketball comes first. Like i said, the 2nd half performance was disappointing, not embarrassing. Embarrassing to me is being up by 20 and above. If the Canes would have blown that game against Kentucky, THAT would have been embarrassing lol

They were supposed to be 5-6 in the conference after losing 5 starters. They start 3 freshman and a sophomore and start out 8-0. They have the 70th toughest schedule in the Nation, best among all mid-majors, and an RPI of 19, also best among mid-majors. They beat a good Northwestern team, Drake, Bradley, and projected Conference winner Cleveland State. Not to mention that Drake, Bradley, and Cleveland State were all on the road. Butler still have games at Ohio State today, at Xavier on the 23, and at home against UAB. If they beat Ohio State, who are currently ranked 22, and either Xavier or UAB, or both, I don't see how they couldn't be ranked. Hell, Davidson is 22-23 and they schedule is a joke compared to Butler. I think Butler is well entitled to a top 25 spot.

If they beat OSU they might get a 20-something ranking. Those teams you said they beat, while decent teams, are not worthy enough to warrant a top 25 spot. But yeah, if they can beat one of OSU or Xavier and put up a good fight against the other they'll be close. Again, Butler will definitely make the tournament this year, I think.

Not to sound like I'm starting something, but if that's the argument for top 25 worthy, more than half those teams don't belong there then. Butler has already played a tough schedule than about 8-10 of the top 25 teams. But I think you're right, but the end of the year they'll probably make a splash in the tourney, at least an NIT bid.

Ohio State baby knocked off Butler, I knew it'd be a tough challenge just for the fact that we had the week off for exams also they're undefeated and we just got done playing two good teams but this should spark us and keep us winnign into conference play time to bee in the teens Buckeyes

I don't care for them, but if they're the only Indiana teams in the tourney, I'll root for them. Butler first, then Purdue, and Notre Dame and IU distant third and fourth. I grew up around Butler with my mom going there and going to quite a few games.

Good man. I also like Butler since they're an Indiana school that isn't really a rival of ours. I watched that OSU vs. Butler game a week or so ago, damn they were close to winning!

Stanford just put up a HUGE statement tonight, dominating Texas Tech 111-66. If that, along with being one of only 9 undefeated teams in the country, doesn't get them into the top 25, something is seriously wrong.

The one thing I can't understand is why Xavier is so high. They loss back to back games to Duke and Butler, both by a large margin. Plus, Oklahoma got killed by Arkansas. Why are they even still in the top 10? I think they're a bit overrated.

Only Thursday and we have:

#1 Wake goes down
#3 Uconn beats #20 Nova - they travel to #19 Notre Dame (in which they have some huge home winning streak.) If UConn beats Notre Dame - and say Duke beats Maryland too - is it enough for UConn to jump Duke?
#6 UNC beats #10 overrated Clemson...how far does that move them up?
#7 Michigan St. loses to Northwestern
#8 Syracuse goes down to Pitt

How's Georgetown still there for that matter? And how's UCLA still in the top 20 after loosing to Washington and Michigan. Plus, there is no way Xavier should be number 10 and higher than Butler after getting beat by the two best defenses in the nation overwhelmingly... Duke and Butler. Butler should be in the at 10, St. Mary's in the top 15, UCLA at like 22-23, Georgetown and Notre Dame falling from the polls. I hate the "I'm a big name" crap.

LSU at 24 is a joke and I mean that by saying they are better than that. They are atleast a top 15 team and I think can compete with the top teams in the tourny. LSU now has a top 3 coach in the SEC (I think best coach) and the athletes are just freakish, bunch of Tyrus thomas type guys. Leading the SEC regular season by 3 games and I know the SEC is down but LSU is very up.

Definitely not. Their losses are pretty bad (except for Xavier). Not to mention they played some pretty piss poor teams before conference play. Top 25? yeah I'll give them that simply based on their in conference record. Top 15? Ahead of teams from better conferences and better records, like Kansas, Purdue, Illinois, UCLA, maybe others. Definitely not.

They are definitely currently too high at #18 IMO.
