Very interesting stats on NBA vs. NHL.

Click here for the article: Yahoo Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/NHL-vs-NBA-Hockey-winning-in-attendance-fan-e;_ylt=ArXovAnbaik98CMtEJEa_ah7vLYF?urn=nhl,123904 )

So, who's your hometown NHL and NBA team? And who do you think has the advantage? (No hate or angst towards either franchise. Just general discussion please.)

Sixers and Flyers. Flyers are always in the playoffs and competing minus 2 years ago. Sixers are starting to turn it around after a few bad years. In terms of fan support, Philadelphia has always had a huge hockey following. Sixers fans seem to get behind star players more than the team, when the team is bad, the following can fall off some. Advantage Flyers

Suns and Penguins (are my teams, not the home town teams). Otherwise it's Bobcats / Hurricanes.

NHL has the NBA fans by a mile. Hockey fans follow their team even if they are bad.
I've seen NHL teams fall behind 2-3 goals early (which is as good as a 15-20 point deficit in the NBA) and the crowd is still electric.
So locally and my fav teams, I'd say the NHL has the NBA.

Raptors and Leafs. People love the Raptors right now because they are perennial playoff team ever since Colangelo came in. On the other hand, the Leafs suck. It doesn't matter anyways though cause I hate hockey and I'm Canadian (paradoxxxxxxxxxxx!!). I just find hockey so incredibly boring. You skate around for 20 minutes without scoring a goal, that's what happens with most of the teams. But Leafs have more fans still probably, just cause Canadians like the sport, but I seriously do not know why.

Now since I live in Ohio, it's Cavs and I think the Cleveland Monsters or Lake Erie Monsters. But of course Jazz is the best, I don't know anything about hockey.

They should let players in the NBA duke it out for 3 minutes and then give them a penalty for fighting :)

HOW ENTERTAINING would NBA games be then?

Before they fight, they're allowed to put on gloves and helmets though , just to be safe ;)

It'd be really funny if Nate Robinson called out Shaq or someone LOL

nah what's the point of fighting if they have gloves and helmets??

Let them have like a one night brawl every week...at the Palace of Auburn Hills

No helmets, no gloves, nothing. Just pure action :smoking:

Why does this chart look different? Because the other charts main selling point is the NBA and NHL crossing streams, however this is based on what I'm guessing would be less than 15 NHL games per team, and less than 10 NBA games per team. Not the most reliable data I would say. And using updated data, you see that the NBA remains ahead of the NHL. If there was any kind of trend right now, it would be that both leagues are suffering falling attendances. However, as I said, it's not the most realiable data, though falling attendances at this time shouldn't be a real huge shock to anyone.

And of course, attendance isn't really a great indicator. But I guess NBA haters can just go on manipulating data. Comparing attendance percentage (boy the Pistons attendance sucked when they were in the Silverdome!), ignore real facts (like how the NBA generates 50% more revenue than hockey does), or rest your future on HDTV (does Versus even have HDTV?).

yeah.

It's too bad the NBA has become a pansy sissy no-contact sport as opposed to the full on brawlfests of the 90's.
