Aaron Heilman, who had more than 20 starts for the New York Mets before moving to the bullpen in 2006, wants to get back into the starting rotation.

If that doesn't happen, Heilman's agent says, then the pitcher would like to go somewhere where he can be a starter again.

"The object the entire time has never been to get out of New York," Heilman's agent, Mark Rodgers, told the New York Daily News. "The object is to get out of the bullpen. The most success he's ever had as a pitcher has been as a starting pitcher. He was drafted by the Mets as a starting pitcher."

If he was to get traded, what does everyone think that the Mets could get for him after his off year last year?

I don't know all about Heilman, but wasn't he a part of a bullpen that absoultely SUCKED last year? How did he earn a starting spot?

Is he deserving of a starting nod? Or is he just unrealistic in his ability?

How will be able to blow a lead if he's coming in with the game tied at 0?

Yes, please put him in the starting rotation mets....pretty please? Then we can shell him for 4 to 5 innings per start instead of just one inning every few games...

He IS a starter. Always was. It was a mistake not to give him chance in the first place

Hey, instead of blowing every game now, he will only blow 1 out of 5.

Get out of New York Heilman, your not welcome anymore.

Heilman is one of my favorite Mets. They never really gave him a spot in the rotation becuase he was too valuable in the bullpen.

Give him a shot at starter... they need starters.

Now that Perez is most likely on his way out, I don't see why they shouldn't give it a shot in Spring Training.

His trade value isn't much, and the Mets need starters. Worst case scenario he sucks and is worth what he is now, best case scenario he is a solid starter & improves his value.

Thats what I been saying.

If Perez leaves and the Mets get somebody to replace him you still have to fill the 5th hole in the rotation and you can have him and Niese battle it out.

...but anyways guys have bad year and Heilman had a horrific year where he could not get lefties outs, but his previous 3 years he was able to do that. I am sure he will bounce back and to trade him now for nothing is useless.

The dbacks previously have shown interest. I'd be happy with him as a 5 starter.

I'd like to see him start. I think that being allowed to start, assuming that's what he wants to do, might be a very positive attitude change for him. He might switch from "I wish these guys would let me start" to "I'm allowed to start, let me concentrate on doing well".

I think we should try it out. He is a natural starter. Look at Durscherer in Oakland last year.

Is he really gonna be worse than anyone else we have?
