My vote goes Josh Hamilton. Dude was amazing this year. He had better stats than A-Rod but only had a few less HRs.

I think it will be either:

Dustin Pedroia
Kevin Youkilis
Justin Morneau
Josh Hamilton
Cliff Lee

I think it will come down to Youkilis and Hamilton though.

Hamilton just didn't at all have better numbers than A-Rod.

Hamilton:
wOBA: 0.389
OPS+: 136

A-Rod:
wOBA: 0.420
OPS+: 150

Edit: And Pedroia really shouldn't be in the discussion as much as he is. He's 10th in the league in wOBA and nowhere near 10th in OPS+.

Although I know that it may be unlikely I would love to see Dustin Pedroia win it!

In a time where it seems everyone is getting accused of steroids and not playing all out it would be great to see a little guy win with hardwork and a "never say die" attitude. He may not have the long ball but he pretty much did everything else this year and really carried a Red Sox team that was riddled but injury and controversy

Yea but he had 30 more RBI's and A-Rod is supposed to be the best all around player in baseball.

Are you really trying to pull out the RBI stat?

It's kinda hard to knock in runners when no one is on base.

Yeah, and RBI's are meaningless, and A-Rod is, along with Pujols, the top player in the game today.

Morneau, Red Sox would have still been good with without Pedrioa or Youkilis. Rangers weren't good anyway. The Twins would have been a last place team without Morneau and Mauer. I would even consider Mauer (One of best defensive catchers in game and batting champ as catcher)

JDIsMyGod23

I'd vote Mauer, but it will be Pedroia. Quentin would have won if he wasn't silly.

A-Rod was also out for a month during the season.

Pedroia will win it. The media fell in love with him over the course of the year, especially ESPN. If he doesn't win it I will be surprised.

it should have gone to quentin and it would have gone to quentin if he stayed healthy, but you cant give it to a guy who misses all of september, even if he was one of the best clutch hitters in baseball ;) thats really a shame that happened to him but the sox knew what they were getting into when they traded for him.

Pedroia's going to win, but Karma's going to make it up to Joe Mauer and Grady Sizemore by them going out and banging a bunch of hot models with sparkling personalities, and Pedroia getting the clap or something.

I get that you're a Sox fan and being a homer and everything, but why do you want Pedroia to get it over Youklis, who was more deserving?

The postseason shouldn't REMOTELY be included, since it takes so very much of the competition out of it.

And, oh Red Sox fan, A-Rod isn't nearly as bad in the postseason as the media would like you to believe he is.

Independent thought. It's a beautiful thing.

What does the fact that "It's A-Rod" have to do with anything? Guys don't magically get on base better in front of him because he's A-Rod.

Also? Both Boston and Texas had a better team OBP than the Yankees.

You have to keep in mind what the criteria is for MVP. It's not just stats. One of the criteria, as written on the ballot is team leadership which Alex Rodriguez has less than none of. Another criteria is games played, and A-Rod only played in 138.

How on earth could you possibly know A-Rod has "less than none" when it comes to leadership? Because the media doesn't deep throat his "intangibles" like they do Jeter? Please.

I cant understand how anyone is saying Pedroia...based on numbers like every MVP is Kevin Youkilis should get every vote that Pedroia would be getting cause his numbers were flat out better than Pedroia's

the best numbers in the AL, which is how MVP is always decided, belong to Arod who should and WILL win it.

Pedroia was more valuable to the Sox than A-Rod was to the Yankees though. Especially down the stretch when he needed to be plus he's better defensively and they do look a that. If they didn't look at that David Ortiz would have two MVP awards on his shelf.

The "they look at that" factor when it comes to defense is vastly overstated... most of these people wouldn't know a decent defensive metric if they found it sleeping with their wife when they came home from voting for the wrong person.

Oh really?

Because I know Varitek, Lugo/Lowrie, Lowell, Ellsbury/Coco, and Drew did not have a better year than him.

That leaves Youkilis, Bay/Ramirez, and Ortiz

Bay and Ramirez shouldn't be considered and Ortiz had the worst season he's had as a Red Sox.

That leaves Youkilis and Pedroia. And I'm not gonna explain why Pedroia had a better season because I've posted why Pedroia was better about a thousand times. He basically finished top 10 in every offensive category. Including 1st in many of them. He was the best all round player this year. A 5 tool player. The only thing Youkilis did better than Pedroia was knock roughly 10 more Hrs.

If Hamilton and Quentin didn't get injured then I would have given it to them but they missed alot of time therefore they lost out. Leaving Pedroia as the next best player.

Pedroia carried the sox offense...He was the only real consistent hitter. Hamilton season is overrated and he played for a ****** team wont help. I predict Padroia wins it. Not only because his stats but coming hes from boston it wont hurt
