View Full Version : If McGrady was to be traded...

Ok so heres the thing. There has been a recent block buster trade when AI got shipped to Detroit. Detroit decided to take AI for whatever reason but they where interested in Tmac this offseason (rumors say they wanted tmac for billups and sheed).

Anyways, this led to me wondering, if lets say Tmac has a decent season this year but has a second round exit. Who do you think the Rockets could trade Tmac for? What team would be interested? And why?

You could probably trade Tmac to someone looking for a hell of a lot of 2010 cap space. But if I was a contending team, he's just far too injury prone for me to want to take a chance on him.

I can't see TMAC getting traded because he isn't as good as he used to be. His numbers aren't too efficient. He has great athletic ability but that can only go so far. I think if the Rockets were going to trade him they wouldn't get the value back in return or maybe just some young talent. He has been given enough talent around him to go far into the playoffs... maybe it the coaching.

Billups and Sheed for TMAC would be the worst trade for the Pistons
Two starters (all-stars) for one...

I could see the Cavs taking a chance on him, but they dont have much to offer besides expirings.

I could see The clipps making a move for him to pair Davis. Maybe a Thorotn/Mobley/Tim Thomas deal.

I could see an Orlando Magic deal for Lewis, they overpaid for lewis and are stuck under his contract long term, Mcgrady would give you similar production and a chance to be under the cap sooner. but im not sure it would be a good reunion.

Miami for Marion? but Miami needs to be bigger not smaller.

idk there are posibilities out there.

Anybody who trades for T-Mac for reasons other than cap space is a complete ****.

This guy's old and broken and well past his prime.

He's got value as an expiring and that's about it.

Unless a contending team was extremely desperate for a SG/SF.

He's still an upgrade on most teams, at either sg or sf.

As a Knick Fan i would offer you Robinson and Randolph for that delicious 2010 expiring.

That solves the two worst spots for Rockets PG and PF. Robinson,Artest,Battier,Randolph and Ming.

SAVAGE CLAW
11-17-2008, 01:39 AM
^I know, but if you were for any reason i would offer that.

I will take it even if he is injured for the rest of the season, hes just a great Meat Loaf of Expiring in 2010 bucks.

11-17-2008, 01:45 AM
THe only thing I would want in retunr would be a good point guard. The are set at center and small forward and have a very solid PF rotation in Scoalndry/Hayes. PG is a huge issue

SAVAGE CLAW

^You could maybe get Sergio Rodriguez for Cheap, like Luter Head or Chuck Hayes or Something.

Rolling the Dice , he has some good potential.

T-mac for Vince would work out well for both teams.

Maybe, though NJ would be getting the better end of that deal, because they would get a star to still put butts in seats until his contract is over, and at the same time get that cap space for Bron. But for the rockets, I don't see how exchanging tmac for vince really changes their situation a whole lot...they're pretty similar players...

Well Vince is more consistent than T-mac is right now. I'm just not sure Vince has the playmaking abilities to make the Rockets better off in the end.

everyone would want him but the raptors would want him the most
they just need sg/sf to start
just imagine tmac with them--Calderon, T-Mac, Moon, Bosh, O'Neal
by the way, i'm a blazers fan, not a rap
but there's no way rockets will trade him

Hellcrooner
11-17-2008, 11:11 AM
^What do the rockets get then? Bargnanis contract is doe snot match ,and he sucks.

and i doubt bargnani + ALL af the bench on toronto matches t-macs salary.

Yeah. I think the Nets would do it, it would be like a perfect trade for them. But it doesn't improve the rockets, except give a little more cap cushion, which for where they are at isn't worth it.
