Coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that he's "hopeful" Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder) will practice this week.

"Of course the shoulder is what it is," Tomlin said. "It's something he has dealt with and will continue to deal with." Roethlisberger threw for 284 yards Sunday and figures to start against the Chargers.

According to coach Mike Tomlin, Willie Parker (shoulder) is scheduled to practice Wednesday.

Parker has denied reports that he has a torn labrum and sounds likely to return Sunday after sitting out Week 10 while Mewelde Moore struggled. He'll wear a shoulder harness if he does play.

Deshea Townsend (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 11.

Townsend hurt his hand Sunday, which combined with Bryant McFadden's arm injury left the Steelers' secondary very thin. Philip Rivers should be able to exploit them downfield Sunday.

Coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Heath Miller (ankle) is "questionable at best" to play this week.

Miller sat out Week 10, with Matt Spaeth catching six passes for 53 yards in his place.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin insists that Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder) will have to practice more this week if he's going to play Sunday.

Tomlin has a cutoff day for determining whether Big Ben will start, with the hope that he'll practice Wednesday. Reading between the lines, Roethlisberger will have to put in a full practice by Friday in order to start against San Diego Sunday. If not, Byron Leftwich will get the start. We suspect Roethlisberger will be fine.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin reiterated that he expects Willie Parker (shoulder) to start Sunday against San Diego.

Parker is expected to practice Wednesday, and that should give us an idea of how healthy the shoulder is. If he does start, Parker will be wearing a shoulder harness.

Steelers LB LaMarr Woodley (calf) is expected to return to game action Sunday against the Chargers.

"At the latest, we expect him to be on the practice field for us Thursday and get him toward playing this weekend," coach Mike Tomlin said. Woodley's return is bad news for Phil Rivers in a tough matchup.

Heath Miller (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chargers.

Miller will attempt to return from his ankle sprain in Week 12. Matt Spaeth will continue to fill in, and he makes for a fine matchup start against a Chargers defense that hasn't been able to stop tight ends all season.

I agree with Tomlin, Ben definetly needs to do more than take "mental reps". Hopefully he can take some real reps in practice this week and come back strong against a weak chargers d

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin characterized Willie Parker's injury as a "shoulder subluxation."

Fast Willie's shoulder reportedly popped out of place, then back in during Pittsburgh's Week 9 win at Washington. He's due back in action this week.

Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder) took part in Steelers practice Wednesday. He was not limited in any way.

Coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that he was annoyed by Big Ben's recent lack of practice work, and Roethlisberger took the hint. Big Ben is highly likely to start in a favorable matchup against San Diego. Chargers CB Antonio Cromartie has struggled badly with a hip injury, Clinton Hart and Eric Weddle have been liabilities at safety, and the Bolts rank 32nd versus the pass.

Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder) reportedly cut loose for several bombs, including a 50-yarder, in his return to a full practice Wednesday.

Here's some refreshing news for Santonio Holmes. Big Ben reportedly showed no signs of his right shoulder injury being a problem. He figures to be listed as probable on Friday and start against the Chargers in Week 11.

Willie Parker (shoulder) returned to practice Wednesday, as expected.

Parker will start against the Chargers. How many touches Mewelde Moore will steal is up in the air.

Little note i heard on the radio today Mike Tomlin is 0-7 in 4oclock games!

TheRedMarauder

Willie Parker is not on the Steelers' Week 11 injury report.

Parker's removal from the report altogether means he is sure to start against San Diego. The Chargers' run defense is surrendering 4.0 yards per carry, ranks 13th in the NFL overall, and has given up six TDs in nine games.

Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder) is off the Steelers' Week 11 injury report.

Big Ben has been chucking bombs in practice and will go against a San Diego pass defense that yields seven yards per attempt. It has allowed 17 passing TDs through nine games. That's the most by any team in the AFC.

rotoworld

TheRedMarauder
11-14-2008, 11:38 AM
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Willie Parker's shoulder harness will limit his mobility Sunday.

The upshot is that Parker is unlikely to be targeted on pass plays because he can't lift his arm over his head. Parker remains an injury risk going forward, but the harness shouldn't affect his ability to run the ball.

Steelers OLB LaMarr Woodley (calf) returned to practice Thursday and is expected to start against the Chargers Sunday.

The Steelers have the No. 1 pass defense in the league, and their pass rush is key to the attack. Woodley's return makes a tough matchup for Philip Rivers even tougher.

Steelers CB William Gay is expected to get his first career start Sunday against the Chargers.

The Steelers' dominant pass defense may have a weakness with DeShea Townsend (hamstring) and Bryant McFadden (forearm) out. Philip Rivers is sure to attack the 2007 fifth-rounder, which would figure to benefit Vincent Jackson and Chris Chambers.

Steelers CB Bryant McFadden practiced Friday for the first time since breaking his forearm in Week 7.

McFadden is out Sunday, but may be able to play next Thursday night against the Bengals. He still hasn't been cleared for contact. McFadden was enjoying a standout season and had earned a starting job before his injury.

Steelers declared TE Heath Miller, third QB Dennis Dixon, CB Bryant McFadden, CB Deshea Townsend, OLB Bruce Davis, OT Tony Hills, LT Marvel Smith, and DE Orpheus Roye inactive for Week.

Miller will return from his high ankle sprain in Week 12. McFadden could be back then as well. Max Starks "protects" Ben Roethlisberger's back side again.

Our defense has been great thus far. The offense has moved the ball, just hasn't punched it in for the scores.

A very nervous, ugly win but a win none the less.

I'll take it.

We had better smarten up though.
We can't give 100+ yards in penalties and expect to win every week.

LOL no historic 11-10 score here

Official ruled the Chargers made an illegal forward pass and the play was ruled dead at that point. No TD for Troy.

:laugh2: Unlucky...

Well it just goes to show how much a full week of practice means to a player. I still think we'd be better off with a more balanced attack going forward though. I think the combination of Parker, Moore and Russell can give us a very good ground game, which will just help to keep Roethlisberger upright and healthy.

Unlucky for Troy. I'm sure he doesn't mind though, this was a big win. The Ravens got throttled, which is also big for us.

exactly. The ravens losing was huge. We already know Bengals and Browns are out of the race. We just have the Ravens as competition. We just need to win the rest of our games in the division. I'm not too worried about the Ravens though...

I think i'm gonna do it before JNC does. Like I said, Ben needs to continue to get the ball off quickly. If he takes what the defense gives him, we'll be a much more consistent offense. Ben played phenomenal today and had one of his better HALVES of the season last week. But his lack of patience bit him in the ***. He stuck to the plan this week and we came out w/ a victory.

I was at the game not gonna lie statistically this was one of Bens best games but when they announced him having 300 yards we were all shocked... He hit check downs the entire game didnt really attack vertically. Kind of funny how it worked out. Id still like to see him get the ball out quicker at times rather then take all those hits..Our oline wasnt that great today IMO

I also :pity: the refs..

could thye have done more to give that game away.. and ERNSTER is garbage.

Ben did what he needed to do this week, but there is no doubt he needs to work on his consistency badly. Safe passes are good passes.. and he showed that this week.

Ben had a good game. Whenever he doesn't throw an super ill-advised pick then I'm satisfied.

Willie Parker confirmed that his shoulder harness didn't hinder his running in Week 11 against the Chargers.

Parker averaged 4.6 YPC on 25 rushes and even was used once in the passing game. "It felt really well, just getting out there and feeling normal, more like myself," he said. Start him with confidence in Week 12 at Cincinnati.
