This will be a tough game for both teams, because the game will be played on a short week. I'm not at all scared with the Jets game against the Rams today, because that game was giftwrapped for them. Our defense is top ten, and Matt Cassel is better now than he was when he faced the Jets in week 2. I think the Pats win 21-17.

a team tends to do something right when they win 47-3

Yeah, the Jets played well. No denying that. But this is why their game with the Rams today doesn't scare me:

1) 5 St. Louis turnovers led to 27 of their 47 points.

2) The Pats don't make the kind of mistakes that the Rams made today. You will not see the Pats commit 5 stupid penalties or turn the ball over 5 times.

3) Matt Cassel is playing very well, much better than both Marc Bulger or Trent Green, and the Patriots are one of the 5 or 6 best teams in the NFL when it comes to running the ball as well. They won't look as pitiful on offense as the Rams did.

So basically, when you take those factors into account, the game will be very close. The fact that the Pats already beat the Jets in the Meadowlands gives me a lot of confidence that they win this one at home.

i kinda think you have to ignore the earlier pats-jets game for both teams.

the jets were nowhere near as cohesive then as they are now while for the pats cassel is playing much better than that week.

also you might see that the pats will have trouble running the ball cause the jets have the 3rd best run defense in the NFL. also they're third in sacks behind the steelers and giants.

it should be a good game and i have confidence in my jets. makes it better that i can watch the game since its being simulcast on CW11 :)

BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Kevin Faulk played the exact same amount of snaps again in Week 10, but Faulk got only six touches to Green-Ellis' 26.

The Pats rode Green-Ellis with the lead and Buffalo couldn't stop him. BGE very well may have earned a permanent place in the committee with Faulk when Sammy Morris (knee) returns. Morris is expected to play in Week 11, but it won't be a good time to use him because New England is facing the Jets.

The Jets have the 3rd best run defense in the NFL. I see alot of quick screens and passes/dumpoffs to the backs for the NE offense. The Jets have struggled covering these guys. Look for Revis to shutdown Moss once again, I see a nice day for Welker, but that is the only highlight for the Pats in this game.

The Jets ground game is one of the tops in the league, with the AFC's leading rusher in TJ. Favre will be himself, I look for Favre's 1st 300yd game of the season, as the Jets rout the Pats, 31-17.

Watchout for the rush Cassel!!! And the pass for the NE secondary.

Seriously how could Matt Light give up 4 sacks to Joey Porter??? Isnt he supposed to be great in pass protection??

Some things you might want to know after your statement:

The Patriots' rush offense has been better statistically than the Jets' rush offense this season. Despite having 3 different starting RB's in the first 9 games, the Pats average 133.0 rushing yards per game, which is 7th in the NFL. The Jets, despite having the AFC's leading rusher, average 10 fewer rushing yards per game than the Pats. Now, I'm not going to say that this number is staggering by any means, but before you praise the Jets rush offense, you must take into account how good the Pats rush offense is too.

Also, if Favre will "be himself", then I expect him to end up with 2 or 3 picks, rather than 300 yards. Furthermore, the Pats allow an average of only 201.0 pass yards per game. Mark my words, the Jets will have limited success on the ground, which will lead Favre to try and improvise through the air. When Favre becomes a gunslinger, he plays right into defenses' hands. Our secondary may be banged up, but it's better than people give us credit for.

Finally, before you make yourself look ignorant, you should note that Joey Porter leads the NFL in sacks, so it's not as outrageous as you think thst he was able to get to Cassel. This will be a close game, not the rout that you claim it will be. The Pats beat the Jets in the Meadowlands already this season, when Cassel wasn't playing all that well. The fact that Cassel has vastly improved, along with the fact that this game is in Foxboro, leads me to think that the Pats have a great chance to win. I think the Pats win 21-17, but you can talk all you want about how you think it'll be a blowout.

Yeah, you should feel confident. The Patriots are playing playoff caliber football stopping the run, playing good zone defense pouncing on any mistakes downfield while running the ball and efficiently distributing the ball to Welker, Moss, and RB's out of the backfield. If you had more of a contribution from Watson as you'd expect from a former 1st rounder, you'd be that much stronger. Adalius Thomas hurts a lot especially with the Jets now clicking a bit on offense. A big key will be the respective success on the running game as each defense has the potential for shutting that game down. If the Jets or Patriots can run with just a little success they will be able to move the chains consistently with the other weapons (Keller being a key for NY). Both teams have good special teams and overall will probably play like the first meeting - very conservatively.
I don't see a blowout either. It should be a good matchup among two teams that could go a long way in the AFC.

Let me guess, if they THEN go on to lose, you'll probably think you were the reason. Right? Could you be more full of yourself? 90 players, dozens of coaches, hundreds of staff employees, numerous scouts, hours upon hours of study and preparation, 3 hours of physical battle, execution and adjustments on the fly and it all comes down to you. Wonderful. Why even play the game?

Sammy Morris (knee) was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice.

Morris is aiming for a return this Thursday against the Jets, but a short week won't help. Check back to see if he practices fully on Wednesday, but keep in mind that Morris may be worked in slowly and will be facing the Jets' fifth-ranked rush defense.

LaMont Jordan (calf) did not participate in practice Tuesday.

It appears that Sammy Morris will beat him back to the lineup, which will leave Jordan with scant fantasy value.

If the Jets are smart they don't put Law anywhere near Moss or Gaffney. He'll have a shot to catch Welker because he'll be in the slot. That being said, Welker will probably still juke him out.

Sammy Morris (knee) is listed as questionable for Thursday night's game against the Jets.

LaMont Jordan (calf) is doubtful and highly unlikely to be active. While Morris appears close to rejoining the lineup, the Pats' backfield pecking order is not clear. BenJarvus Green-Ellis has earned a role moving forward and has similar skills to Morris. Expect a committee in the short term.

LaMont Jordan (calf) is listed as doubtful for Week 11 against the Jets.

If Sammy Morris (knee) shows something Thursday, the Patriots might have to consider placing Jordan on injured reserve. He's been extremely slow to recover from his injury and hasn't contributed at all since Week 5.

Like you said, the game will go either way, and it certainly won't be a blowout. The rain will be a huge factor in tonight's game. Torrential downpours are in the forecast for tonight's game. This means, IMO, that the chances of Favre burning us deep go down significantly. This game may very well be decided by both the running game and short passing game. IMO, Favre isn't as effective when forced to go underneath to slot receivers as Cassel has proven to be. Favre will always be a gunslinger. We will have to see how that plays out tonight though.

phxcyots22
11-13-2008, 04:05 PM
I expect to see the weather dictate this game, unfortunatley. If it gets to a worst-case weather scenario, I think the Jets match better, as they have the better RB team and a better un defense (IE, the easily win a ground game war), but moderatley lame weather gives a Pats advantage, as they can work a short pass game, since Cassell isn't that effective deep anyway, and takes away Favre's biggest passing strength. A clear weather game is where we get to see a war of offense vs defense chess matching that could swing either way.

Patriots declared DE Ty Warren, LB Eric Alexander, OL Wesley Britt, RB LaMont Jordan, CB Lewis Sanders, OLB Adalius Thomas, CB Terrence Wheatley, and third QB Matt Gutierrez inactive for Thursday night's game.
Warren's absence is major, as he is New England's best pass rusher on the line. Richard Seymour could now see more attention on the defensive left side. Deltha O'Neal and Ellis Hobbs start on the corners, with O'Neal probably covering Jerricho Cotchery and Hobbs mostly on Laveranues Coles.

What's up guys! It's cmoneytakemoney. The Candian Sports Mod banned me for 2 weeks because I said Rajon Rondo is a better point guard than Jose Calderon and, I said Rondo shut Calderon down the other night and, he needed Jermaine O'Neal to come out to the 3 point line and set a pick for him every single possession to even cross the 3 point line because Rondo was harassing him so bad and, then I said Calderon sucks and he's overrated. What a biased piece of ****. He's mad because he's from Canada and, he loves Calderon but, all i said is straight up true. What a scumbag. His name is Ink. He's the Candian Sports Mod. Whatever so I'll just use my other account for 2 weeks. Big deal.

Anyways what's cracking boys? Intimidator are you ready to be in sole 1st place after tonight boy?

We need a turnover or a 3 and out before this game gets out of hand. One stupid special teams play and, a couple bad throws by Cassel and, we already are down 2 scores. We need to pressure this old *** QB.

bosox1899
11-13-2008, 10:17 PM
our offense is totally incompetant and like i said last week if our defense fails we dont stand a chance to win bc of our lack of offense, we've already seen it many times when we get down 10 or more points i give us a 30% chance of winning bc matt cassel just cant get those TDs and we always settle for FGs in the red zone

This is exactly why that choke against Indy was so huge. I said I'd be happ if we won 3 outta 5 before we played Indy and, now we might actually go 1-4. We need a major comeback and no more FG's.

Intimidator it's me cmoneytakemoney again. They keep banning my accounts. That kickoff return by Leon Washington is huge right now because it would have been a one score game with us getting the ball 1st after halftime but, were still in this game. We need to pressure Brett Favre a lot more and make him throw an interception like he has done throughout his whole career. Our defense needs to step up big for us to win this game. I don't know why we haven't been using Guyton as the outside linebacker to try and get a sack or some pressure on Favre because Pierre Woods just isn't doing to much. I f this is what our pass rush looks like without Adalius Thomas than we seriously need to bring somebody in like Simeon Rice especially if Ty Warren is out for an extended period of time. Let's try Mayo on the outside a little bit.

When the better team loses 2 games like this to Indy now the Jets it means were in trouble. I said we had to win 3 outta our next 5 when we went to Indy to have a chance at making the playoffs. We'll be lucky to go 2-5. We have to play Arizona, Pittsburgh, and Miami next week in Miami. Season crushing loss tonight. Too bad because we are clearly the better team. The Ravens and Colts are going to be the wild card teams because Indy owns the tiebreaker. We had nothing to lose. We should have went for 2. Sammy Morris would have trucked his way in for 2 I know it.

first of all thats the third time you mentioned we should have gone for 2, which really doesnt make sense since they did all the work just to tie it. How is indy gonna win the wild card? we have the better record then them as of now anyways, plus Indy is not playing well this season, we should have beat them last week. Also, there are 2 wild card spots and right now the pats own the 2nd one, hopefully Indy loses this weekend.

Great game you guys. Down 24-6 and you guys fought all the way through. I will say that Brady might have been more efficient, but I doubt he would have pulled out the win. Why?? Well Cassel saved several drives by moving out of the pocket and rolling out and also running. Brady is not that mobile. Ellis would have gotten 3 sacks, and on that final play in the 4th, he got out of a sure game ending sack. Also props to Mayo who is just a beast

I mean 400yds, 3tds and 70yds rushing for Cassell?? That is monstrous, that is also the Jets pass D! :laugh2:. But still great game, guys played well.

it was a good game. I feel good about my team. they have so much heart. Cassel has progressed faster than evern his biggest supporters could have imagined. He is our version of Steve Young. im calling it now.

Montana to Young
Brady to Cassel

really tremendous effort by the team, i mean it took injuries to Brady, Maroney, AD, Rodney, Warren for them to win. jets deserve credit, but theres no looking past the fact, NE was badly undermaned.

The Patriots can't lose 3 more games. If they do they have no shot at making the playoffs. No team that's 9-7 is winning the wild card thus year and we play Pittsburgh, Arizona, Miami away, Buffalo away. The Dolphins play teams like KC, SF, St Louis, The Jets play Denver and SF and Seattle. We seriously have to beat Miami next week, and then Pittsburgh in 2 weeks to even have a chance. Indy and tonight were season killers. We'll at least we'll get a decent draft pick.

We definitely should have did that. Bellichek can be way too conservative sometimes and, it most likely cost us a playoff berth.

well its easy for us to say now, but really i did want the 2 pt try. i dont like OT.

no it didnt cost us a playoff birth, we have a fairly easy schedule and Cassel is playing GREAT. i feel good about the Patriots. if we miss the playoffs, we will better loaded for next year, when we u know have PLAYERS ON THE FIELD.

wats with the injuries?

hey guys, i just wanted to poke in here and say that was one hell of a game....I hate you guys so much, I can not deny that....but I have a new found respect for you guys for the way you battle and how hard you are playing for a guy who really hasn't played since high school. You showed why your a championship organization as much as it pains me to admit that....but yea just an amazing game....i know you guys probably arent feeling too good cuz of a loss, but trust me we've been on the losing side of a game like that versus you guys plenty of times...it nice to finally get one....i will admit if both our teams make the playoffs...i do not want to play you guys again....you're a bunch tough SoBs that wont die...you're like freddy krugar to us no matter what the circumstance you just keep coming back....anyway I'm emotionally spent...great game.....also I would like to apologize for any jets fans that are being *** holes....i guess you can't blame them....we don't know how to react....when was the last time we were in first place and you weren't....2002 and 1998 lol

I just got home from the game and let me just say WOW! Even though we lost I am so proud of our team's never say die attitude. They never gave up and went full tilt for the entire game! It was truly a game for the ages!

He is our version of Steve Young. im calling it now.

Montana to Young
Brady to Cassel

With Brady being paid huge dollars for a few more years, I see Cassel going to Detroit for $5-6M per year to start. BB isn't going to tie up a lot of $$ for a guy to sit. Managing a trade for Brady would be quite difficult as well (cap, fans).

Besides, if Cassel could throw over 30 yards with any accuracy, he would have hit Moss for a TD and we would have won in regulation.

I am a Jets fan, and I don't necessarily agree with that. At least if you go into overtime at 31-31, you have a chance. If you miss the 2-point conversion, you have 1 second left, and you lose. If defense wins championships as so many people say, give your defense a chance to make a stop in overtime and win the game that way. That is why I thought Kansas City was an idiot last Sunday against San Diego for going for 2. You put your entire game on one play. At least if you go into OT, you have a chance.

3rd and 15....good job meriweather

Not sure if it was merriweathers fault on that one. I think vrabel cost us the game. He rushed on that play and not sure if that was the right call. Not sure if he was supposed to drop into coverage or what but he rushed therefor it opened up the left side of the field. And then the holding call so I'd have to say those two plays were huge. But Mayo wow! And I wanted then to draft Gholston lol

Hey guys, thought I would throw my 2 cents in. Honestly, I don't care that we lost, because Cassel played outstanding football. First QB in NFL history with 400 pass yards and 60 rush yards in a game. At this point, I feel like it's kind of a shame that this guy is going to be gone after this season. If I'm Scott Pioli I do everything in my power to try and keep Cassel around in the off-season. Obviously, he's going to want to start, but hopefully if the Pats offer him a nice deal he'll stay to be the backup. An ideal backup QB is someone who you feel confident putting in to a game when your starting QB goes down. Do any of you not feel confident in Cassel at this point?

I agree. While I didn't get to see the whole game, I did see an extended highlights replay on AFN. Cassel looked amazing from what I have seen.

Cassel in my mind might be convinced to stay. The fact is, while Brady will very likely be back and like he was before the injury, what if he isn't? Whatever if that (insert correct miniscule % here) chance is, what if Brady Isn't like "Brady" when he does return. I don't know what Cassel would think, looking to start for a team that will likely suck, or having a slight chance of playing for a team with a chance.
Hope he doesn't go to the Jets when Favre retires (again) this offseason. :jumpy: Or any AFC East team for that matter. What are the chances of that happening? Hopefully some NFC team will want him if he does need to start somewhere.

I thought he was an UFA next season, this site seems to back that up (i just googled it, and I have no idea how good this site is, but it confirmed my thought):

Does anyone know a place where I can get a picture, of the behind shot of Randy Moss when he made that last second catch against the jets? I would really appericate it if someone could come thru with some info.

Im a pats fan, and that was still a great game btw.

When you're in as big of a hole as the Pats were early in that game, running the ball is really not an option.
