Basically is some team going to put some stick into the Blazers wheels by Signing Darius Miles and play him garbage time for some games just to make his cap go against the blazers and so spoiling their chances at 09 and 10 FA?

Darius Miles retired with the Blazers because of a career ending knee injury. Because of this his salary does not count against the Blazers cap.

This year, he attempted a comeback and signed with the Celtics. If Miles plays more than 10 games, then his salary will count against the Blazers cap. The Blazers have spent the offseason and preseason bashing Miles because they don't want a team to sign him, have him play more than 10 games, and have his salary (around 7-8 mil I believe) count against the cap for I think 3 more years.

If I'm a GM....especially if I'm in the Blazers division, I do it. Or make them trade me someone so I don't do it.

Lakers should do it.

they have an open roster space, and they'll have plenty of garbage time to play the scrub.

I want to see that.

i hope somebody does to it, it would be stupid for a western conference team not to do it.

I really hope somebody does because if not they are just going to cruise even more over the next few years.

What I don't get is why the Celtics cut him in the first place after praising his conditioning and shape during the preseason.

It would seem like a move you would want to make, but by now its pretty clear darius miles can't contribute anything to a team. The only reason for signing him would be to hurt the blazers. And then you have to find time to play him in 10 games, and then after he plays in 10 games you cut him. That would be a completely classless and dick move. It's a respect thing, and how many GM's are going to see that move see how you do business and not want to deal with you in the future? Sure it's a business decisions, but when the only motivation is to hurt another team, that's dirty.

That would be a pretty underhanded move.

(And sk, that "owned" thread is hilarious, more for your pointing it out than the actual thread)

Yeah, I just couldn't stop laughing when I opened that thread and it was already closed, it was too funny. and I seriously just lol'd again when you pointed it out.

Yeah, while it would be advantageous for the wolves, jazz, thunder or nuggets to do that to a division rival, or for any western conference team, it has further reprecussions than that. I mean are you going to want to do business with a guy who only signed a guy to play for 10 games to impose 8 million on someone else's cap? Knowing he'll screw you completely if he can? A move like that could severly handicap you in future deals with other teams, and that's just bad karma. You pull a stunt like that, and its bound to bite you in the *** at some point.
