View Full Version : Stephen Smith, Annoying?

Is it just me or does anyone else find Stephen Smith annoying? He says things like, "What's good?" or "Stick and stay." Maybe it's the "culture" of the NBA now that I'm out of touch with. It's like he hears a new saying every week and things he'll be sweet if he starts saying it. Anyone else find him annoying?

He's absolutely hilarious if you take him for what he is. A loud mouthed caricature of a basketball analyst who knows nothing.

He's very annoying but I find what he says amusing especially if it's nonsense.

At the end of the day, the fact of the matter is Stephen A the Kwame Brown of commentators? Kwaaaame Brown. You gotta be kidding.

wow!!! didnt know there were so many stephen A haters... I actually like the guy. i think he's very funny and the way he emphasises is hilarious. when the man is right, he can flat out embarrass you for thinking anything different. lately his interviews and clips havent been like they used to be. i remember back in like 05 i thought the man could debate anything and make it sound believable. still i give the man his dues...i like him, hes a good analysts/writer, and i take what he has to say in stride more or less these days. besides...it aint liek he's anywhere near the worst

He's a decent analyst, but does he have to yell all the time?

He just sounds much dumber when he's yelling and it doesn't really help him make his point either.

There is usually nothing about what he says that is annoying. Its how he says it, it really makes him sound like an idiot most of time.

I actually like Steven A. Smith, he provides good insight and speaks candidly on all topics.

if your young and "Urban" he's a great commentator if your old and not you hate the guy personally i could do without him yelling all the time he acts like a know-it-all, even though most of his revelations are pretty much obvious to the typical NBA fan..

Quite frankly, this thread is hating on Stephen A. Smith. I like him, but he can be annoying, but he isn't the only person on ESPN..if you want annoying, look at Chris Berman.

Incublime24

yes...he is very annoying...he thinks that the louder he is, the more right he is.

side note: i was watching first take, or cold pizza, or whatever morning show ESPN runs these days, and the two people they had on the panel were Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless. That was possibly the most annoying segment of anything I have ever watched. It was like two kids arguing in a schoolyard about who knows more. Unreal. I hope they never do that again.

That's what I think as well. He tells it like it is, and doesn't let anything influence his opinion.

Definitely can see how his antics could rub people the wrong way though.

Stephen A is a bad*** He tell's it how it is. Kinda like Barkley... How can people not like the guy?

I like Stephen A he calls people out and doesn't hide from it. I don't always agree with him but he is entertaining and isn't clueless. Much better then Dee Brown or Chocolotte Thunder.

I used to like him because i used think he was a breath of fresh air. But then i realized all he does is yell. Just because you yell doesnt mean you are right or no what your talking about.

The only thing he says that i like is RASHOOOO Nesterovicccc

OMG.
The only person more annoying is Skip Bayless. Because neither one of them are never wrong if you let them tell it. Like when Skip said the Jets would go 12 and 4. And when somebody called him on it he still said he wasnt wrong. And he still refuses he is wrong till this day.

OY!

he can be annoying. but IMO, he is one of the smartest basketball analyst

Stephen A.Smith tells it like it is and shuts people up who do not know what they are talking about .People find him annoying because he don't mind stepping on toes while telling it like it is.

He's not particularly bright and is only in the business because he has connections and kisses ***. It is rare to find a person who likes Stephen A. and this topic is very common. He screams when he doesn't have to and is too stubborn to admit when he's wrong, which is pretty often.

Annoying? He can be, without question

Do I still like him? Yeah

I don't mind him at all, to be quite honest.

I definitely prefer him over Skip Bayless, who can never admit he is biased and when he is wrong.

He's actually my favorite broadcaster. I'm also an Allen Iverson fan as he is, so we mesh there.
