I know it's WAY early, but based on the little everyone has seen of the new Heat this year I want to get everyones thoughts. What does everyone think so far and do you think they'll even make the playoffs?

they have the potential to. the east isn't competitive in the 6-8 seeds, anyone can make it.

They lack chemistry. And it's showing on the defensive side of the ball.
I think offensively there's alot of "star" power but they need to get their **** together on defense.

They definitely can, but there is one big problem with this team, and it's that our starting Center is 6' 8''. Haslem definitely has the potential to outwork bigger guys but as the season goes on he will start to wear down. Blount is one of the worst Centers in the league, so he won't be much help in that department. I think if Zo comes back and is effective (Mid-December) then we have a shot to finish in the 5-6 range.

Heat will not make playoffs. They will deal Marion, Wade will get hurt and Beasley hits the rookie wall after the all star break.

^
They have the potential but they need to work on their chemistry,
and also we are undersized we gotta play big, unless we get a Big GOOD C we won't go far in the playoffs or will be struggling to make it

Have you been watching the Heat games? seriously
Haslem has been playing great, and Banks isn't starting for us

lets just say its not looking good. maybe if we get some decent outside shooting and, more importantly, a good defensive/rebounding center.

Yes. Wade is going to be too good to be denied.

not this season. They have no center, and a rookie point guard who may have started off well, but will be scouted, and will be up and down as a rookie anyways. They have to hope Beasley is the best rookie since LeBron to have a chance this season.

Just like all the "who gets this award who gets that award" threads: it's way too early to tell.

Why do people keep making these stupid threads :pity:

They're better than I thought they'd be, but again, there wasn't any tape out there about how they were going to play. Now there is. The cautionary warning is, with a new coach and a new system, the Pacers started last year 3-0. They promptly lost the next 6 and would not have another 3 game streak all year.

That's why he started with "I know it's WAY early, but" It's no different then every newspaper writer or ESPN, S.I, etc. making their season predictions as to who will win, records, etc. Does that mean ESPN, Sporting News, and all the rest are stupid? There's no need for anyone to complain about "stupid threads". If you don't like the thread, you don't have to open it up and read it, let alone post in it. Just move on to another thread that interests you.

Uhm, they can make it but they gotta improve defensively. Offensively, they got enough options.

Oh, you mean that year Wade got robbed for R.O.Y.?

Eh. I'm a big Wade fan but Lebron and Mello were at least equally deserving.

yea Wade only averaged 16 ppg that year...was a great rookie but not Melo + LeBron. That's for another thread.

But i don't think they can make the playoffs. They got too many weaknesses 2 b ignored.

They could be 9th though

Not with the way Shawn Marion has been playing.

He hasn't been playing that well on offense. He needs to get use to Eric Spoelstraz plays and what not. He's been doing great on D though.

Translation: He doesn't have Steve Nash anymore.

He's been doing great on D though.

Actually the part where he didn't do nearly well enough is D.

He can be the (shared) #3 option on offense on this team, or maybe even #4 (Haslem has shown he can be a good scorer also). Marion just needs to concentrate on shutting down guys like Gerald Wallace and Zach Randolph instead of allowing them to score way to many points.

And this team needs some games to gel together. I mean come on, were you expecting them to dominate everyone immediately with a completely new starting lineup

I'll start judging the overall team status after about 10 to 15 games.

i think but a 7th or 8th seed at best

Hawkeye15

Oh, you mean that year Wade got robbed for R.O.Y.?

yes, that is the year I mean. The same year that Wade missed 21 games, averaged 16/4/5, where LeBron missed 3 games, and averaged 21/5/6 and completely revitalized a franchise and a league

Lakersfan2483

I don't know about this team, you would think with the team having both Wade and Marion they would be better. They lack a veteran point guard and a low post player. I am not sold on Michael Beasely.

Top teams in the East:

Boston
Detroit
Philly
Toronto
Orlando
Atlanta
Millwaukee

I think Miami will have to battle for the 8th seed.

Not with the way Shawn Marion has been playing.

It has been three games, he has been all over the place on offense and defense.. he has been playing pretty damn good in my opinion.

I didn't think they would in the first place and still don't after seein last nights game.
Beasley is gonna grow quick in this league though.
I think Marion will be dealt to a contender as a rental this season. They'll finish with 25 wins

They'll play strong @ home and struggle on the road, need time to gel, Chalmers didn't even start in preseason 'til the last 3 games, 1 of which Wade sat out.

25 wins @ home could be possible, another 16 on the road and you're @ .500 and the 7th/8th seed

Hawkeye15

I can't see them getting more than 35 wins at most, they will be on the outside looking in. But the future looks a LOT brighter than a year ago.

Beasly Equals ROY
Marion Equals DPY
Wade Equals MVP

Theyll defiently be in the playoffs- JUST DONT TRADE MARION
