It's to early to tell, but i am rooting for Bynum and Gibson.

Farmar or Ariza.

I don't think Bynum because he averaged 13 and 10 last year and it will be hard for him to average more. The Lakers have incredible depth with LO, Gasol, etc. at his position as well as other positions and they are probably going to be blowing out a lot of teams. Every Laker players stats will suffer except for Ariza and Farmar because these guys are actually the few guys whose minutes are going to increase from last year and they have improved mightily.

I actually think it can be Bynum especially if the Lakers are dominant.

That's a pretty good question. Hard for me to say, some of the guys you mentioned didn't have bad years last year so it doesn't really fit them. I'm sure there will be a more clear cut answer near the end of the season, but at this point I'll say either Rodney Stuckey or Bynum.

LOL JB. Didn't you say Bynum was overrated and only deserved 2 million a year? I believe you said that...Have you changed your tune?

i mostly go with Ariza. he is so under-rated, and has improved his jump shot so much! But bynum is not a bad pick either.

TT, can average a couple of blocks and near double digit rebounds if he gets 30-35 mpg, and a legit pg would do wonders for him offensively.

if ariza continues to hit the 3, he could be the missing piece for LA that puts them over the top. i think he has a chance at least.

Kelenna Azubuike.... he improved quite a bit last year, but from what I have seen so far this season/preseason he looks way better than last year and I think he could win most improved if he keeps up the pace and is given the minutes.

Agreed. Buike is getting major minutes now and really has proven himself to be a true NBA caliber player up from the ranks of the D-League. Barring an injury he should be up there in the voting for this award.

Wait a second..why isn't Lebron on the list? I thought he improved 5x. There's no way anyone else improved that much. Ahahaha

Also scola and randolph shouldn't be on the list. They were already prety good last year.

But for the MIP it's hard to say right now. You can't say anything after 1 game. Some people might have had better luck than others so far. There's a lot more people who will come into our attention as the season goes.

I think Ariza might be able to get it if he gets some mid-range shootnig as well.

another laker thread, there is no way ariza is winning it,
farmar if he gets his stats up,
imo bynum wont win it either because he wont average more then 12 pnts and 11 reb at most, he is not a 20/11 guy

You can't say he won't win it after 2 games. You can say he might win it because he's made obvious improvements in his game. You're right, he's not a 20/11 game right now on this team. Not yet anyway. Even then I believe he'll average more than 12 points, his average won't decrease from last year especially when he's made obvious improvements in his game.

well IMO ariza isn't that great but whatever. Bynum might become a 20/10 guy but defintely not yet.

okay, hardly any of the players u put up there are candidates for MIP.

I'd agree on Rondo, but i think if he were to get it, it wuld have been last year.
Tyrus thomas shuld be up there.

JR SMITH ANY BODY?
Ariza..... Farmar.... and BYNUM. This award is given to players people hardly even think about, then suddenly become a success.. Bynum has already become a promising prospect, and in my opinion he can't really improve in rapidly enough to get MIP.

Andrea Bargnani is looking hella good this year, he could be in the mix for sure.

Pretty sure the games of most of those people are all pretty established. No one on the elite teams is gonna have the room to make that kind of improvement. More likely their improvement will be something like Jason Maxiell's--that is really noticeable, highlighted by all the coverage his team gets, but not enough to warrant the award. It seems like certain teams get the lion's share of Most Improved Players anyway. Orlando, Portland, Washington, Indiana and Phoenix all have multiple award winners, and it's not hard to figure out why-- they're prone to huge vacuums to fill from injuries or someone leaving, and one of their young guys makes a considerable leap. Makes a lot of sense to look at the projected 30-40 win clubs to see who'll be the MIP this year. ... Can Zach Randolph get the award a second time anyway???

I'm picking a Knick.
1) D'Antoni's system drastically inflates offensive stats.
2) Playing time is wide open. He doesn't have the luxury of Nash/Stoudamire, so he's going to play whoever produces the most.
3) New York is a major media market. Lots of fans, lots of media coverage. If you have a career game, -everyone- is going to see it.
4) It's not hard to do better than the Knicks did last year.

All in all, I'm going with Nate Robinson. No Knick is better suited to play for D'Antoni except for David Lee, and he's more or less capped out his potential already.
