It really depends on how effective KG is this year.

In which way? Do you say that if he is ineffective then PP will win MVP? Or if he is effective then PP will win MVP?

Like if they are winning 60 games and KG is not playing well then he can win it.

No. Just No. There's a chance he will win it, but that chance is less than 1%. IMO

It's between Kobe/Lebron then you have CP/Wade behind em'.

LoL PP needs to be an actor. Anyone see him crying and making his academy award winning speech before the Cavs-Celts game? LoL WOW.

I think Lebron will win it this year

CP3 has to be in the running, I can't stand PP, they trade for 2 great players and all of a sudden he's the man? He needs to realize that he's good, but not MVP good

JOSETHEALLSTAR

I agree PP has become the biggest ego/drama queen in the NBA

Avery Johnson knows what he's talking about PP can win MVP b/c his team is elite, he is the best on his team STATS-WISE, and he is now known as a valuable player since his Final's performance. Good Call IMO

paul pierce? no way.. hes great but the celts would have to win 70 games and pp would have to be the clear cut pick to be able to get mvp.

its either gonna be kobe or cp3.. followed by lebron and either yao or tmac.
wade could but the heat wont win enough games.
i'd put lebron as most likely to win.. but the cavs wont win enough either.. kobe has the cast, and the rep to repeat as mvp.. as long as LA can keep dominating and they win the most games in the league. around 62 or so.

if houston wins 60 then either tmac or yao.. who ever is the man at the time will win it.. this year id say its between

kobe
lebron
cp3
yao
tmac

EVEN IF WADE AVERAGES 36ppg he still wont be top 4 mvp choice.. trust me.. it happened to the best.. kobe bryant

paul pierce has way too much of an ego now.. 'The truth' is living a lie

I dont see why people are underrating PP now. Before Allen and KG came, he was a guy that would put up 25/6/5 for his team. Now with those 2, his stats have taken a hit, just like KG and Allen did.

Lebron should have won it last year and will this year.
Pierce is the Man for Boston and will have a shot, though.
Pierce does not have talent & depth around him kobe does but still great help to repeat.

i think pierce has a chance, but i dont see it happening. i think lebron or cp will win it. i doubt kobe will get 2 in a row, even though he may deserve it. people need to stop hating on PP though. he is a great player and could be mvp worthy. he was seriously underrated until last year because of the bad teams he played on. he led a team to the EC Finals with Toine and Kenny Anderson as the big 3. im not sayin he is better than kobe by any means, but when kobe had no talent with him, he continually got booted in the 1st rd. with that being said PP will probably not be MVP but it is not out of the question.

Avery Johnson was fired for a reason. lol. No chance for Pierce, he's not even the best player on his own team.

You can't be serious, Lebron's team wasn't even one of the top teams in the league, it's not an individual award. Do you understand how the award works? Give credit where credit is due, Kobe deserved the award. LA had the no. 1 record during the most competitive conference in years.....

(If it was an individual award in terms of scoring etc.., Kobe would have won it the year he averaged 35ppg, and led his "terrible" supporting cast to the playoffs. Kobe scored 81 points that year, had four 50 point games, etc.., but it's not about the individual, it's about where the team finishes)

no chance? theres deff. a chance. Pierce is a very versitile player, and after last year, he is getting alot more recognition.

In season opener he posted 27 pts on 10-14 shooting 5 assist and 3 rebounds. Off to a good start if you ask me

exactly. people think he just started putting up good numbers. Hes a better player now with KG around him, yes. But he was a great player even before the trades.

Not an MVP player...

Frrrrank!!!

Why is it so outlandish that a great player playing on a great team could win MVP? No matter how much you might dislike pierce that doesnt mean you say he has no shot at it. No one can predict the future so who knows what is gonna happen. But saying an elite NBA player on an elite team has no shot at winning MVP is kind of confusing.

Well I think its ignorant to say it's impossible for Pierce to win MVP cuz it's always possible.

But I personally think its between Lebron or Paul. But it's just way to early to tell.

What is it with all the Paul P stuff

I would like to remind everyone that before the Celts got Allen and KG they were an average team with an average coach and an average GM

not saving he wont have an mvp type season but if KG didnt win it last season even with the best record in the NBA i just dont see pierce winning it this year...not to mention the seasons LeBron, CP3, Dwight Howard, and Yao Ming are going to have you know they gonna get a lot of votes

He will have to return to the stats he had before his help showed up, then set himself apart from KG and Allen. But is there an outside chance? Sure

The guy is still in his prime right and with Ray and KG slowing down they are going to need someone to step up, should be Rondo, Powe and Perk but Pierce has it in him as well. Hes shed some pounds and looks quicker on his feet, especially laterally, but hes still able to absorb contact in the paint and hella strong. Add it all up and you have yourself an MVP caliber player IMO.
