Looking forward to this one...we could see the demise of the Indianapolis Colts this week!

I dunno, they gave the Titans a run for their money. Were either gonna get blown out or scratch and claw our way to a victory.

This is going to be a good game. Pats trying to keep in the race for the division title, Colts now looking like they are scratching just for a wild card. They lose this one, and they are about done.

Any word on Morris or Jordan returning? How is Hobbs? O'Neal? Pretty hard to try and figure out a outcome if you don't know about half of the starters...

All the same I like our chances.

IMO Pats win by 3

For what it's worth, Sammy Morris told the Boston Globe that "I'll be back ASAP." So, at least that means he thinks he'll be back soon.

I think the Patriots will win 28-14. The Colts have no run defense IMO without Bob Sanders. Even though we don't have much running backs I think Faulk and Green-Ellis will run a lot this game

Green Ellis could have around 100 yards and a TD and Faulk about 50 yards and a TD

When is Lamont Jordan coming back he was great the first couple of games.

i completely agree though this game doesnt have the same excitement as in the past, should be fun to beat the colts again though!

LaMont Jordan is listed on the injury report with a calf injury still, and I'm not optimistic that he'll play this week. Although I'm not the team trainer, so I guess my opinion is worthless in this case. Sammy is most likely out, even though he said he's coming back ASAP. Hopefully we can survive another week with Green-Ellis starting, and Faulk getting a lot of carries. Shouldn't be that hard to run, considering the Colts' lackluster D.

LaMont Jordan (calf) officially had "limited" participation in Patriots practice on Wednesday.

This doesn't tell us much, other than Jordan did more in practice than he did last Thursday and Friday. He could be a game-day decision in Week 9.

Randy Moss was limited in Patriots practice Wednesday with a foot injury.

Moss was not known to be hurt in Week 8 against the Rams. The Pats may be limiting him early in the week because he's been playing a lot of snaps.

Sammy Morris (knee) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice.

Morris isn't expected to play in a game again before Week 10.

Not too concerned about Moss' supposed foot injury. I'm sure he'll be ready for Sunday. The news on Jordan is better than expected, but I won't get my hopes up when it comes to his availability. If Sammy is able to come back in week 10, that would be ideal. We can survive this week without him, I think.

TheRedMarauder
10-30-2008, 06:56 PM
Randy Moss (foot) and LaMont Jordan (calf) were present for the start of Patriots practice Thursday. Sammy Morris (knee) was not.

Morris won't play this week. Moss is very likely to face the Colts. Jordan's status is uncertain, but he has a shot to get the start against Indy this week.

Indy's going to be desperate for a win in order to salvage their season. I'm not sure if the Pats will have enough to beat them on the road...

TheRedMarauder
10-30-2008, 10:50 PM
Randy Moss (foot) returned to a complete practice on Thursday.

Moss will likely be listed as probable on Friday's injury report.

LaMont Jordan (calf) was limited in Patriots practice Thursday.

This is the second straight day he's been limited. Look for Jordan to either be listed as questionable or doubtful on the injury report. Either way he'd be a game-time decision and not worth counting on in a Sunday night game.

Sammy Morris (knee) didn't participate in practice Thursday.

We won't see Sammy Mo in a game before Week 10 against Buffalo.

LaMont Jordan (calf) was participating as the Patriots opened practice on Friday.

Jordan has been listed as doubtful on the injury report for several weeks, but shhould see his status upgraded later today. Stay tuned because he has a decent chance to start the game if he's playing.

Sammy Morris (knee) missed his third straight practice on Friday.

Morris will almost certainly be among the Patriots' inactives on SNF.

Randy Moss is not on the Patriots' final injury report for Week 9.

There are not many better fantasy plays than Moss this week.

LaMont Jordan (questionable, calf) practiced in limited fashion for the third consecutive day on Friday.

Jordan's ceiling is about 15 touches if he's active on Sunday Night Football. The lateness of the game makes him an extremely risky bet because there's no guarantee he'll be active. He is worth owning in most fantasy leagues, but hasn't played since Week 5 and it's hard to have any expectations.

Sammy Morris (knee, doubtful) didn't practice Friday.

He is not expected to play in the Patriots' Sunday night game.

Sanders will come back, giving a moral if not actual boost to the Colts. Manning is probably just rounding into form for this year, and it is the Pats, and if the Colts win, they are in the playoff hunt, and if they lose, they are just about dead.

1) I agree with you on Sanders giving the Colts' D a shot in he arm.

2) Ehh...Manning has had a very mediocre season. He has thrown 4 interceptions over the last two games, and he is on pace to have his worst passer rating since his rookie season. Right now, his main weapon is Clark, as Harrison is almost non-existent, and Wayne appears to have lost a step or two. Getting Addai back gives Manning another option, but Addai hadn't been lighting it up before his injury anyways.

3) After the Colts lose this game, they will be dead.

Pats win, 24-20

I like your prediction better, we'll see.

Yeah, I just have a good feeling about how we're playing right now, and the Colts just don't seem to have what it takes to beat us right now, even without Brady. Of course, the Colts could show up and look like the 2004 version of themselves, but I just think that the Pats get it done. What upsets me about this game though is that it is being played in Indy again, like last year. IMO, they should alternate locations every year.

TheRedMarauder
11-02-2008, 12:16 AM
LaMont Jordan and Sammy Morris were among five players downgraded to out for Sunday night's game. CB Lewis Sanders, S Matt Slater, and OLB Shawn Crable also didn't make the trip to Indy.

Jordan's absence is disappointing after he participated in a portion of practice all week. At least the early news gives clarity to the Patriots backfield for the weekend, with Kevin Faulk and Benjarvus Green-Ellis splitting work. Jordan figures to be 50-50 to play next week.

Benjarvus Green-Ellis could be in line for his second consecutive start after LaMont Jordan and Sammy Morris were downgraded to out Saturday.

Green-Ellis should be in the game on clear running downs, but Kevin Faulk figures to get more snaps and production. Both backs should are likely to see fewer than 15 touches.

not looken forward to this. this is a must win for the Colts. if they lose, they might as well lose the rest of the games. i just have a hard time seeing the Patriots win this one when Indy needs this so badly. i think Cassel is progressing well, but to win this game would make him a legit starting QB.

not to mention we always get the greatest PI calls in indy. :(

the upside is this: if the line can hold the rush, then Cassel will have no trouble finding Moss and Welker against this terrible pass defense.

11-02-2008, 08:26 PM
As much as I love the Patriots and, as much as I hate the Colts I just feel the home crowd and the return of Joseph Addai is going to be a little too much for the Pats to handle. I'm going to say 24-13 Colts.

Sorry I have to disagree he had time in that last drive to hit his receivers and he wasn't even close to them. Especially that throw to gaffney in the last 20 seconds he threw the ball 15 yards out of bounce when the closest defensive player was 10 yards from gaffney.

I am not saying cassel is horrible but he is not nothing special either. he will never succeed until he realizes that there are other receivers on the field instead of the primary receiver, he doesn't know how to check down.

So what did BB do wrong?

The guys upstairs told him he had the 12 men on the field, they were wrong.

When he called the time out it was because McDaniel and/or Cassel misunderstood how much distance had to be covered

When Cassel called the time out it was because he was under orders that if he got confused call a time out - they needed a TD not another FG.

Got anything else? I didn't think so.

Cassel threw one good deep ball all night and it was dropped - is that BB's fault.

THey had chances to win and didn't cash in, that is what you can say.

KingJamsI
11-03-2008, 01:35 AM
jesus...step back from the ledge. that wasn't the season, not by a long shot. BB didn't make any major errors, stuff just didn't work out. Thomas' hit was obviously unfortunate but it could have just as easily not been called, they played it back in slow motion, but in reality it was basically at the same time that whistle blew. Its a mental mistake but it wasn't some inexcusable atrocity.

You have to accept the reality that with Matt Cassel our chances in games like this drop to below 50%. We're gonna loose some of them.

There was no point in making a risky challenge that if he won would have yielded very little reward. The timeout for the 4th and inches was unnecessary, as evidenced by the fact that they would have made the first down. Do you have anything else? Didn't think so...

The TV had it incorrectly as 1st and 10. They pick up 5 yards and a 1st down if BB wins. BB can't see the field himself. The guys in the booth told him he should toss the bag, they were wrong. Blame them (he will), not BB.

BB didn't want a QB sneak on a yard, Cassel/McDaniel thought it was 2-3 inches. He said so in the post game conference.

Probably the loss didn't bother me so much since I had it 20-16 Colts earlier in this thread.

Hind sight and criticism - so easy to use - so fruitless in building actual understanding.

i think that pats actually looked OK. o-line looked really good, which is a BIG surprise.

oh, and what the hell was with that call when we had 3rd and 16 and they run a little shovel pass??? take the diaper off of cassel for christs sakes....either win or lose with him......

Now that's a Bingo! If the coaches messed up - that was it.

That and throwing long at the end of the game. What's wrong with a couple of 12 yard outs to shorten the distance and get some cadence going? Instead of needing 45 yards in 45 seconds or whatever it was - you need 21 yards and a FG to tie in 32 seconds. Cassel was throwing well under 15 yards all night, he could have in that circumstance as well.

I have had some time to cool off since the game, but there is still no doubt in my mind that:

1) Stop blaming Cassel. He executed the gameplan perfectly last night. It wasn't his fault that the playcalling was so conservative. And also, the interception was pretty much a punt, like someone said before. All you can hope for in that situation is for the defender to somehow deflect the ball into the receiver's arms, or a defensive penalty. It was more or less a punt.

2) David Thomas MUST be disciplined for his actions lats night. He single-handedly ruined that drive for us with that penalty, and ultimately lost us the game. We would have kicked a FG at the very least, and we could have scored a TD the way we were moving the ball. David Thomas needs to be disciplined by the team.

He'll get a kangaroo court fine and some extra laps, but at least it was a penalty of effort and desire, not a jumping offside penalty.

If you feel so strongly about Thomas - what about Wilfork? Should he be summarily executed?

TheRedMarauder
11-03-2008, 06:58 PM
Benjarvus Green-Ellis and Kevin Faulk both played an even 33 of the Patriots' 68 offensive snaps in Week 9.

Green-Ellis runs with more power, which the Pats probably felt gave him a better chance against an extremely lightweight Colts defense. Sammy Morris (knee) or LaMont Jordan (calf) could return in Week 10 to cloud the situation, but for now Green-Ellis is the backfield's best bet for touchdowns.

There are almost no backs that can play every down and last. Certainly not a small (5' 8" 202 lbs) and aging (32.5 years) back like Faulk.

They use him up in one game, then you'll be stuck with bjge only - no thanks.
