View Full Version : How much better is Wade than Kobe?

Wade won with a old Shaq and carried the team. Kobe can't even win with the most dominant frontcourt in the league in Bynum and Gasol.

Gee, these threads look so familiar...I sense a lock pretty soon. Try thinking of more original topics, not to mention more interesting.

That's not a fair assessment. One of the main reasons the Lakers went out and traded for Gasol was the fact they knew Andrew Bynum was out for the rest of the season. So if Bynum was healthy the entire season, there's a VERY good chance the Lakers don't make the trade for Gasol.

Kobe is the best in the league. End of story. Wade might be top 5

He is not as good as Kobe...BTW--Kobe hasn't won because they haven't even played together before. Talk about them not winning when they actually go through a season and don't win.

wade is nowhere near as good.
maybe top 5.
risky steal attempts and flops and layups do not equal the best.
he is worse on both ends of the court.

i would take wade over bryant...although hes a bit shorter, he is younger, quicker, and can finish better than bryant even though bryant is a better outside shooter right now....don't judge a player's talent based on his surrounding cast...if you are talking about straight up talent wade is just as much a part of the upper tier as bryant has been

Bynum and Gasol arent good enough compared to the shaq in 2006

If Kobe got rewarded with the 97 free throws Wade got in 06 instead of the 46 he got in 08, would he lead his team to a championship?

I don't get all the Kobe hype. I think he has the potential to being one of the best players, but his horrible shot selection is what's holding him back. If you look at his FG%, he shoots roughly .430 to .465 per season. That's pretty crappy, and you know the reason why is because he likes taking those fancy fade-away shots while being double/triple teamed (and it obviously didn't work against Boston when they stuck Pierce and Allen on him). I don't think you can compare Wade to him just yet though, seeing as he's really only had three good seasons (although Wade at his best shoots around .490-.500 during the regular season). And while we're talking about FG%, Jordan as we all know would put up Kobe numbers with a FG% around .500-.530.

Maybe if he would man up and take it to the rim more often in stead of his fade aways he would have gotten more fts. People always whine about the refs. He earned it.

when wade can carry his team and make a series out of nothing in the playoffs then compare them kobe is top 5 to ever play the game get your minds correct remember he gets compared to jordan.....and he is still playing which means he is good enough now to be able to be compared to mj and he's still playing!!!

2 Things...

Gasol and Bynum are not the most dominant anything, I'd choose Hornets DWest and Chandler over them.

Right now Kobe is better then Wade

Bynum and Gasol arent good enough compared to the shaq in 2006

Well he averaged 20 and 9 in 58 games in 05-06 in the regular season. And 18 and 9.8 in the playoffs so not really over 20 and 10. His 3.7 TO/pg were a career playoff high and his .374 ft% was only worse the next year in the playoffs with the heat. Pau was pretty close to that last year and pretty much every year of his playoff career. Last year he got 17 and 9 on about 70% ft with 2.1 to/pg. If you add a Bynum to that as opposed to the 2006 Haslem then I think you can agree that they certainly are good enough compared to the shaq in 2006.

I thought all Kobe had to do to get more free throw attempts is to start elbowing people.

Wade and Lebron have both been compared to MJ. I remember senseiking used to compare VC to MJ. Completely irrelevant. The difference between Kobe carrying and Wade carrying is that Kobe dropped the kids off a block from the ship while Wade took them all the way.

Thats called a blocking foul. Sorry you haven't learned the rules yet.

d- travel i mean d-wade is much better kobe you can look at the heat 2007-2008 season record last year and tell that.

You don't usually get the MVP for 20 and 9 in 58 games. Sorry, not close. Also, take a peak at some of the Lakers records within Kobe's career post Shaq. And keep in mind that Wade actually was shut down mid-season.

Thats called a blocking foul. Sorry you haven't learned the rules yet.

A defensive player is permitted to establish a legal guarding position in the path of a dribbler regardless of his speed and distance.

A defensive player is not permitted to move into the path of an offensive play-er once he has started his shooting motion.

A defensive player must allow a moving player the distance to stop or change direction when the offensive player receives a pass outside the lower defensive box.

A defensive player must allow an alighted player the distance to land and then stop or change direction when the offensive player is outside the lower defensive box.

A defensive player is permitted to establish a legal guarding position in the path of an offensive player who receives a pass inside the lower defensive box regardless of his speed and distance.

A defensive player must allow an alighted player who receives a pass the space to land when the offensive player is inside the lower defensive box.

A defensive player must allow a moving offensive player without the ball the distance to stop or change direction.

The speed of the offensive player will determine the amount of distance a defensive player must allow.

If an offensive player causes contact with a defensive player who has estab-lished a legal position, an offensive foul shall be called and no points may be scored.

A defensive player may turn slightly to protect himself, but is never allowed to bend over and submarine an opponent.

An offensive foul should never be called if the contact is with a secondary defensive player who has established a defensive position within a designated "restricted area" near the basket for the purpose of drawing an offensive foul.

The "restricted area" for this purpose is the area bounded by an arc with a 4-foot radius measured from the middle of the basket.

EXCEPTION: Any player may be legally positioned within the "restricted area" if the offensive player receives the ball within the Lower Defensive Box.

The mere fact that contact occurs on these type of plays, or any other similar play, does not necessarily mean that a personal foul has been committed. The offi-cials must decide whether the contact is negligible and/or incidental, judging each situation separately.

Pretty sure I'm interpreting it correctly that and player can't just throw his elbow out into the defender and get awards free throws.

b_rad23
10-26-2008, 09:49 PM
He was driving towards the hoop and Dirk couldn't stay in front so he decided to overreact to contact as Wade was driving by.
Are you arguing that it's a charge or that it just wasn't a blocking foul? It's at least close enough to where it doesn't warrant review and conspiracy theories.
