I installed it and took it for a test drive. Absolutely fantastic addon. If you use Firefox, then this is a must have:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2990/

And if you're still using IE, well, you should switch to Firefox.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

INSTALLATION AND SETUP GUIDE

1. Go to this site (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2990/) and click the "Add to Firefox" button. Install the addon and restart firefox. (Before doing that, you should take a look at the screenshots to get an idea of what this extension does).

2. Right click over your firefox toolbar and select "customize"

3. You'll see a bunch of icons. Grab the one that looks like this (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/images/addon_icon/2990/1224048344), place it on your toolbar, and click "Done".

4. Clicking the basketball part of the icon will open up nba.com's scoreboard. Clicking the arrow will open up a drop down menu. So now, click on the arrow.

5. You should be seeing today's scoreboard in the menu, along with several other choices. Go to "Options" at the bottom of the menu.

6. There are three Options panels, "General", "Teams", and "Advanced". So, just configure them in the way that works best for you. I set mine up like this (http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/5094/ffnbaextscreenszb1.png).

Enjoy!

Crap, can someone explain its features?

Basically it builds an rss feed for nba scores and news from nba.com into your browser so you can access that stuff from one handy little console in your toolbar. Look at the screens on the download page, pretty self explanatory (see top post).

Where is your Favorites stored on you home pc? Like for IE it is under documents and settings and your user name. Where is your bookmarks stored for Mozilla on your home pc?

Thanks for all the nice thank yous everybody, but all I did was look for an RSS extension at the ff addons page and that happened to come up, so I didn't do anything special, I just got lucky.

If you're a Firefox user and you don't have this already, I would highly recommend it. It really is a great convenience for quickly checking a variety of NBA info.

NBA Scoreboard v3.10.2 available

The latest round of compatibility changes between NBA Scoreboard 2010 and the NBA.com scoreboard have been incorporated into v3.10.2.

With 2009-10 pre-season analysis and team previews flooding cyberspace, there is no better time to download NBA Scoreboard 2010 to follow all the action. Follow the installation instructions and you’re ready to get the latest scores and news from the NBA.

I would also recommend the "NBA.com Scoreboard Lite" setting, specifically.

Crap, can someone explain its features?

basically it's just a shortcut to go to the scoreboard page of nba.com.

nothing special... you can just add nba.com scoreboard to your favorites and it'll do the same thing... all this does is clutter up your browser tookbar.

it's the same exact thing as a "favorites" or "bookmark" button

Actually, I think it's pretty different, because you can check the scores without navigating away from the tab or window you're already on by using the dropdown button with the live score/rss info on there.

Sure thing. Yeah, I like the new version, too. "Today's NBA Scoreboard" now you can choose from nba.com, espn, yahoo, etc. The icons help a bit with just the visual separation of the scores, I think. Not sure how useful the "game rater" thing will be, but it could be helpful to get a quick at-a-glance view of which games are close, especially on days with lots of games.

i stay with the espn scoreboard

DenButsu
10-09-2010, 01:11 PM
FWIW, if you just click the basketball button (instead of the dropdown menu), then it's just a link to the espn (or nba.com, or yahoo, or whichever you choose) scoreboard.

The main thing I like about it though is I can use the dropdown to see live scores without navigating off the page I'm viewing, which is especially nice when streaming games.
