PURCHASE, N.Y. (CBS) ― Harrison, N.Y. police were sent to the home of former Knicks president Isiah Thomas early Friday morning in response to a call that he had overdosed on sleeping pills, a source confirmed to CBS station WCBS-TV in New York City.

Thomas' condition or whereabouts are not yet known.

Other reports confirm that police did arrive at Thomas' home shortly after midnight in response to a 911 call from a cell phone, but they would not confirm why.

A source, however, told WCBS that Thomas' condition was being classified as an overdose.

Thomas was fired by the Knicks on April 18.

Wow.

He looked despondant all season last year.
Sounds like he's in severe depression.
The press is gonna eat this up.

Crazy.

His dream of being a winner was destroyed. He became public enemy number one in New York and a laughing stock to the rest of the league. I'm not surprised by his actions...

A 47-year-old man was taken to the hospital and treated for an accidental overdose of sleeping pills at the suburban home of former New York Knicks coach Isiah Thomas, police said on Friday.

Police would not identify the victim, except to give his age. Thomas is 47. Harrison Police Chief David Hall said the case was not a suicide attempt.

The New York Post and WCBS-TV in New York reported that the man who overdosed was, in fact, Thomas. The station cited unidentified sources in the report.

Madison Square Garden spokesman Barry Watkins told The Journal News newspaper, "Isiah is fine." WCBS Radio reported that the call involved an "issue with sleeping pills."

The Daily News also reported Thomas' 20-year-old son, Joshua, said the the issue surrounded his sister, Lauren, an 18-year-old who suffers from hypoglycemia and who was feeling ill.

"He's fine," Joshua Thomas said of his father, according to the Daily News.

"Reports of sleeping pills are false," Joshua added. "He doesn't take sleeping pills. He's doesn't really take anything that's not organic."

Joshua Thomas told the Daily News his father and sister were resting at a hospital.

Reports of an ambulance taking a person from Isiah Thomas' home to the hospital after an overdose of sleeping pills still differ widely as to what happened, writes Henry Abbot. Hopefully we'll get some clarity soon. Blog
"He looked faint from stressing over her," Joshua said, according to the newspaper. "They sat him down, let him drink some water. He's fine."

Apparently he was embarrassed about all the negative attention or something, so he made up a story in the New York newspapers (from the hospital) that it was his daughter who needed medical attention. He even got his son to confirm the story.

First class a-hole: Isiah Thomas.

It worked until the police chief came out and told everyone Isiah was lying to them.

Wow. Yea it seems Isiah has some problems that run deeper beneath the surface. I kind of feel sorry for him. He probably didn't want this getting out for whatever reason and made up some stupid lie involving his daughters condition to get out of it. Low right there.

Poor guy needs to get away and see someone. Life Rehab or something...

I wasn't really answering you at all. I'm not defending him, because he really screwed up the Knicks, but Isiah is one of the greatest of all time and I don't want to mock the guy just because he's totally messed up now.
