Steven Hill and Luke Jackson were both released today with the announcement that Shavlik Randolph was awarded the final roster spot. He played well during his short stint with the team. I personally was rooting for Steven Hill, though Randolph did have the better preseason.

After that one near-perfect preseason game he was the definite favorite. We'll see if he gets any court-time this season.

Preseason had little to do with the decision, is more than anything that Fryes Injury made a big man needed.

So i guess the rotation will be something like?

Trail Blazers waive Jackson, Hill

The Portland Trail Blazers waived forward Luke Jackson and center Steven Hill on Thursday.

Jackson, who signed with Portland in August, played nearly 20 minutes per game this preseason but didn’t show enough to earn a role in the regular rotation. Since being drafted 10th overall out of Oregon in 2004, Jackson has not been able to find a home. The Trail Blazers were his fifth team in five years.

He has played in just 73 NBA games - including three starts - while battling a variety of injuries that have stunted his progress. He appeared in three preseason games this month, averaging 5.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists.

Hill played sparingly for Portland since being signed in August. An undrafted rookie out of Arkansas, Hill collected 1.0 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 9.0 minutes per game this preseason.

“We want to thank Luke and Steven for their contributions during training camp and preseason and wish them all the best for the future,” general manager Kevin Pritchard said.. “They’ve conducted themselves as real pros on and off the court, and we believe both of them have a bright future in basketball.”

I was rooting for Hill also, but Randolph had a better preseason. Also it didn't have much to do with the injury to Frye because Hill was a big body also. Randolph just played better then the other 2.
