Not necessarily- there a plethora of good guards in the West that are potentially more popular than Williams, and that coaches may not be able to look past. Paul, Kobe, T-Mac, Nash (PHX is hosting...), Iverson, Davis...

I dont think calderone will ever make an all-star team...he is solid... but he isnt a super-star. Off the top of my head all these guards will get more votes: Wade, Carter, Iggy, Johnson, Redd, Allen, Billups, Hamilton, Arenas (even if he's injured), Richardson, Gordon, Williams, and Miller...

I think Deron Williams is the L's best point guard behind Chris Paul... if he doesn't get seriously injured and continues to play at the level of the past two years, I think coaches will vote him in over Nash, Iverson, Kidd and B-Diddy as the back-up PG of the West.

Deron Williams didn't make it last year? He will then for sure.

I would be a homer and say Kevin Martin since he'll have a statistical breakout season this year with Artest out of the picture. But with Paul, Kobe, Williams, Roy, Iverson, and Nash all in the West, I don't think there'll be room for him.

I'd be shocked if D-Will isn't an All-Star this year. If the Clippers are good enough, Chris Kaman could be as well.

Andrew Bogut.

Williams and Calderon I think have the best shots. Calderon is one of the top point guards in the league. People know about him from all over the world--Spain, Toronto, and obviously the U.S.

Dwill should, he has a gold medal and a bunch of western guards are aging.

d will should but there are so many great guards in the west, so he isn't a "lock"

D Will in the West

In the East either Calderon,Miller (i dont think he was one before),Ford and maybe Mo Williams

How does Bynum make it?????? Yao is a lock, thanks to China. He will need to beat out a crop of players, and 13-10 doesnt cut it. The LA voting doesn't matter, fans don't pick reserves. I don't see Bynum being in the all star game anytime soon.

I think Martin should make it, he isn't going to cause the Kings aren't a big media team, but none the less he deserves it. He could average 27-30 ppg this season with Artest gone.

He was being talked about getting on the all-star team last year so anything is possible, but I don't think he has a great chance of making it because his stats won't be as good as others resulting from the Lakers amazing depth and great players all around. He may be better than some on the all-star team though, but his stats may not reflect that.

I agree, but Al Jeffeson averaged 21-11 last year on a horrible team, I fear Martin will suffer the same treatment. Going for 29 ppg on a team that will be 9-24 at all star break won't cut it.

Jose CalderonThat isn't really a homer pick when you consider the PG's on offer in the East. Jose is clearly a smart choice as is D Will to make the All-Star game.

I agree with you. Depending if he continues where he left off last year, he could possibly have the skills to make the all star team, but statisically, I don't think he'll have a chance.

Al Jefferson won't make it unfortunately because of Duncan, Dirk, Amare, Pau, Bynum, and Yao.

He could get the coaches nod. It depends on how Toronto's season goes. He has the reigns now so the ball is in his court (no pun intended). This is a player that started 30 games and change last season with averages of 11.2ppg, 8.2apg, 2.9rpg, 1.1spg...led the league in assist to turn over ratio....great percentages too - 0.519fg%, 0.4293pt%, 0.908ft. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't get picked, there are a lot of good guards in the east (as you mentioned). All I'm saying is that as the only starting pg on his team this year and with the addition of JO Jose Calderon is poised to have a career season. If his numbers improve and the Raps do well there's no reason he shouldn't be considered with the other guards you mentioned in your post.

Aldridge reminds me of Sheed...I really like his game. If he can be the defender that Sheed is he and Oden will rival the defensive prowess the Duncan/Robinson twin towers brought to the table.

I was lobbying for Calderon to be an all-star last year because in all honesty, he deserved it. Calderon was the sixth player in NBA history to shoot over 90 FT% 40 3PT%, 50%FG not too mention his assists/turnover ratio was through the roof all season, he was leading the league all year in that category. But of course, the league decided that Ray Allen should be an all-star which was debateable.
