Ford (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=ford_chad&page=TradeTalk-081015) says:

Here's a look at 10 or so players (in no particular order) who could be on the move before the February trade deadline:

Raymond Felton, Bobcats
The Bobcats surprised a lot of people when they drafted point guard D.J. Augustin in the lottery. But the Bobcats had been quietly shopping Felton ever since Larry Brown took over as coach.

While neither Augustin nor Felton has taken over this preseason, the word out of Charlotte is that Augustin, sooner or later, is going to be the point guard in Charlotte. With Felton heading into restricted free agency next summer, look for the Bobcats to get something in return while they can. Felton may never be a superstar, but he's a starting point guard, and those aren't always easy to come by.

Offer Chucky's expiring (http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=26~2753&teams=30~7&te=&cash=) for a first or a first and second, or something like that. Or just use part of the TE we got for Camby.

tinsley > felton

Felton can't shoot, and can't create his own shot, y do u think the bobcats want 2 get rid of him?

Tinsley would've bin the best fit 4 us.

I do think Tinsley is a little better than Felton, but Tinsley also had a better team until last year.

Let's see....Larry Brown & Karl are friends.....get the deal done.

Felton = More hustle, assists, D.
Less locker room problems, lazyness, risk.

Felton can't shoot

You think Tinsley can?!? :eyebrow:

Okay, first of all Felton is entering just his 4th season, and is on a clear trajectory of improvement. Tinsley is entering his 8th.

Secondly, take a look at their actual numbers from last season:
Per Game

Player Season Age MP FG% 3P% FT FTA FT% TRB AST STL BLK TOV PTS
Raymond Felton 2007-08 23 37.6 0.41 0.28 3.3 4.1 0.8 3 7.4 1.2 0.2 2.7 14.4
Jamaal Tinsley 2007-08 29 33.2 0.38 0.28 1.8 2.6 0.72 3.6 8.4 1.7 0.3 3.3 11.9
Per 36 Minutes

Player G FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% FT FTA FT% ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TOV PTS
Raymond Felton 79 5 12.1 0.41 0.7 2.4 0.28 3.1 3.9 0.8 0.4 2.4 2.9 7.1 1.2 0.1 2.6 13.8
Jamaal Tinsley 39 4.9 12.9 0.38 1.1 3.9 0.28 2 2.8 0.72 0.7 3.3 3.9 9.1 1.8 0.3 3.6 12.9
Advanced

Player Season Age PER eFG% AST% STL% TOV% Usg% OWS DWS WS
Raymond Felton 2007-08 23 13.8 0.44 32.4 1.7 15.8 20.8 2 1.4 3.4
Jamaal Tinsley 2007-08 29 12.8 0.42 38.8 2.5 20.4 21.3 -0.6 1.4 0.8
-They're both pretty crappy shooters, but Felton's at least better at getting to the line (and better once he gets there).
-Neither of them can shoot the 3, but at least Felton doesn't chuck up bad ones as often.
-It might look at a glance that Tinsley has a clear edge in assists, but you also have to take into consideration their turnovers then the result is that Felton has a superior ast/to ratio, at 2.74 to Tinsley's 2.51
-Tinsley has a slight edge in boards and steals, but those differences are pretty negligible
-Most importantly of all, at age 23 Felton has a PER of 13.8, while at 29 Tinsley's was 12.8. With less experience, he's already playing better and more efficiently.

Thirdly, and this is of major importance, their contracts:

2008-09 2009-10 2010-11
Tinsley 6,750,000 7,200,000 7,500,000
Felton 4,148,715 5,501,197*qualifying offer

I just can't identify a single clear advantage Tinsley has over Felton, but there are a lot the other way. Throw in a lot of locker room crap, and how much Tinsley likes to use the ball, I just don't see how the case for him holds much water.

he had 1 less asssist per game but that could change with the players he has with the nuggets. good steals and d, and 14 points, thats pretty good for what we need, do it! and no locker room problems from what i heard, plus younger and cheaper...i guess its good, above average Pg is all we need, he fits it well, more of a role player than star player if he was with us, perfect

wait though, is there any indication that we might do this or is it just a thing that maybe they should look at and might be too good to be true that we shouldnt get our hopes up for cuz our managers are dumb?

This was only an idea I had. As far as I know, there have been no reports or rumors that the Nuggets are actually pursuing Felton. I personally just think it's something they should look into. Crittenon could be another one to watch.

And just for the record, just because I made the Felton > Tinsley case above, I'm not saying that Felton is our dream pg or anything. I'm not even sure if, down the line, he'd be our starter (hopefully we could find another, better pg for that slot). But what I do think is he'd be a much, much better option than Tinsley, and would also allow us to let go of Chucky and AC at season's end and be done with the both of them for good.
