Lafrentz+Future Second Rounder for Hinrich makes much since....Gives the bulls a load of money & gives Portland a Defensive minded PG who can shoot and is a good playmaker....Also young....Y havent neither team done that??

...because the Bulls don't want to be dicked over should they trade Kirk and then Gordon signs elsewhere during the summer.

The Bulls should get more than just an expiring and a 2nd pick for Kirk either way.

I like the idea but I wouldnt think portland would want to take on Hinrich and his contract. If it aint broke don't fix it.
I also think the bulls want Hinrich to help with Rose's maturation.

First of all, Portland would not do it because they already got a young stud PG.

2nd, Bulls would not do it because that would be a total rip off.

Because Hinrich is a decent player and they dont want to just give him away. They should be able to get a decent player back.

Hinrich will be a good parter with rose and will turn into a Great 6th man coming of the bench and playing both PG and SG. He could be a great Combo Guard.

Because if the Bulls management was dumb enough to do that deal than they might as well trade Hinrich straight up for Zach Randolph.

Hinrich is coming off a down year, the Bulls should pray he plays well, then trade him midseason when he has higher value. They won't get much for him right now. But a cap space deal makes sense midseason if it looks like the Bulls are treading water. Which they will be.

This doesn't make sense for either teams. The Blazer already have Rudy, Blake, Bayless, Roy and Rodriguez....the last thing they need is another starting pg/sg.

What sense would it make for the bulls to give up a starting pg for next to nothing? Hinrich's stock had dropped but it hasn't plummeted. He's only been in the league for 5 seasons

NO!

Actually its because Hughes is stinkin up the place and Gordon will most likely be gone.

Blake/Rodriguez/Bayless, I don't see why another pg should be added.

First off he isnt worth a 12.7mil expiring,(he is a good pg though and Id love it if Portland got him).

2nd, you call a 12.7mil exp nothing, do you have any idea the quality of player that much loot will get you. Portland can get anyone they want next summer if they choose(Also have 15/20 mil coming off from Steve Francis, and possibly 9 mil from miles)

Hinrich would make Portland a serious contender, but the Bulls will probably really need him this season, not so much for Rose's sake(will help him to)but cause he's just a good basketball player and has an all around game.

It looks like Gordon will become a free agent next summer so tell me wouldnt it be nice for for the Bulls to be able to go and hand pick the best free agent in the market to team up with Derrick Rose.

That would give the Bulls Kobe Bryant type money(I doubt he's going anywhere though)

One off yr didnt put a bad player tag on Hinrich last yr, Chicago has a lot of good ballers that just didnt have a good season as a team.

Portland has a bigger concern then just finding a Pg now. They have about 7 players who basically need to be resigned next off season and need to weed out who isn't part of the future. Having too much talent is bad sometimes. They have Bayless, Rudy and Blake. A Pg isn't a must now.

Just a bad trade for both teams, Bulls would be ripped off big-time and the trailblazers don't need a another point

Blake/Rodriguez/Bayless, I don't see why another pg should be added.

Rodriguez is not NBA ready and is also wayyyyyy small
Bayless is just a rookie and more of a undersized scoring SG
Hinrich>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Blake

and for people that dont know....Rudy Fernandez is a SG

You are right that they have bigger concerns, though that is not quite right about the "seven players" figure. Most of the players either have team options or are obvious players to cut.

Players involved in Portland's Convoluted Offseason:
Steve Francis: $14.8M salary comes off the books
Darius Miles: $9M salary comes off books (unless he plays in 10 games)
Travis Outlaw: $4M Team Option (obviously will be picked up)
Steve Blake: $4.9M Team Option (likely to be picked up)
Sergio Rodriguez: $1.6M Team Option (likely to be picked up)

Unrestricted Free Agents:
Raef LaFrentz: $12.7M (will NOT be resigned)

Restricted Free Agents:
Martell Webster
Channing Frye
Ike Diogu (doubtful to be resigned)

So instead of having seven players that need to be resigned... they actually have two who might need to be signed/replaced. They will also have a 1st Round pick and $16-$25M (Depending upon the Darius Miles situation) to replace/resign those two if they so choose.

Going back to the main topic... neither the Blazers nor the Bulls would like this trade. The Blazers want to see if they can acquire a marquee player either through a trade or FA with Raef's Expiring Contract/Pending Cap Space. Kirk Hinrich's value couldn't be lower... he is coming off of a bad year and in the beginning of a front loaded contract. The longer they wait, the more valuable Hinrich becomes.

Kirk Hinrich isn't talented enough, and costs to much. Steve blake doesn't score much, but distributes as well as him. Portland already has a bevy of talent, which is going to cost massive amounts of money to keep together. Why send any of that talent away for an underachiever like Hinrich? It will be a good trade once Portland realizes who to keep aside from Roy, Aldridge, and Oden.

Thats a horrible trade. Why not trade him to a team who will give them value? What is the cap relief going to accomplish when they're still over the cap once Raef's contract expires?

Because it's an worthless unfair trade you fool. And Jerry Krause ain't running things no more. If the Blazers give up Greg Oden, LaMarcus Albridge and 3 first round picks for Kirk Hinrich it would go down nicely in a blink of an eye.

If the bulls think they can have a backcourt of rose and hinrich and make a big impression on the league they got another thing coming. Look at the playoff backcourts that made the playoffs last year, if they were weak like Orlando they had a strong front court unlike chicago's. Im not saying rose and hinrich suck, im saying that they both share the same position which is the point guard spot.

Umm....I am guessing that a deal like this has not been done because it would be a bad move for both teams, neither GM is an idiot, and neither GM is in this business to make moves just to say he made a move. This deal doesn't help either team. Do the Bulls need cap space? Sure everyone does, but not at the expense of giving up a player that will be used quite a bit for a player that will never get off the bench. Do the Blazers need a point guard? Well, Hinrich is a better pg than any of the pg's on the Blazers, but their pg doesn't have to handle the ball much, so they can get by without a better pg, and save the cap space to resign their own players.
