View Full Version : Rudy Fernandez

He was almost unstoppable in the Olympic.
The NBA superstar were almost overshadowed in the game VS Agentina
And now he is in the Blazers. What kind of season will he get together with Oden and Roy?

I predict:
Rudy Fernandez
16 PPG 4.5APG 4 RPG
And a stout contender for ROY.

Ps:He gets a rating of 80 in 2K9.

Well having Roy in front of you isn't really the best scenario... so I don't expect that high stats from him.. I'm sure he'll be solid, just hope they find a way to play them both alot.

If he'd be a starter I'd say those stats aren't too far off.

I agree... Rudy is going to be good at some pt in his career, they will just need to find him enough time to play. He's not really a PG, perhaps they can do Roy and Rudy together as Roy is sort of a combo guard, but Rudy is more of a SG.

Rudy can play sg and sf.

10-15-2008, 10:43 AM
I don't think he will average that in his first year. I will say around 14, 3 and 3 because he still has Roy and Bayless.

Roy will be moved to SF eventually.

Or he will become Tj ford part II.

Arent the Blazers going to play Roy at the Point??

I though there starting lineup would be

Not 14. 4.4. I say 10ppg and 3rbp 3 ast 1.8 spg

It's no secret anymore that Rudy can ball. He's a top flight point guard and IMO this will be his breakout season. Check out how the local news was praising him and going nuts a few nights ago.

Well, Roy is pretty versatile and can play both guard positions and maybe occasionally SF and Rudy can play the Guard and also occasionally SF so i think he should find playing time. I've read that if he were a starter he could potentially put up All-Star numbers. Now that Websters out he should also get more playing time.

hes young. ^ and may i ask why is that?

10-15-2008, 03:39 PM
Nate seems to like playing Rudy and Sergio in the back court together, so I would expect either they move Roy to the 3 for a while until Webster gets back, or they bring the Spaniards off the bench together.

hes face makes me want to punch him

I like Rudy Fernandez. I hope he succeeds in the NBA. Even if he doesn't become a big time "superstar"...

10-15-2008, 06:48 PM
I'm thinking 10 3 2 for his first year. I also think you never know how foreign players will translate to the nba. Ex: Darko. Opposite: Dirk.

10-15-2008, 06:51 PM
He won't get enough minutes with Roy there, but I love his game. I honestly think he ends up elsewhere in a couple of years. Portland can't possibly keep all that young talent, regardless of Allen's checkbook capabilities. There will be too many guys wanting to get out there and make a name for themselves. There is a thing as too much young talent. And Portland has it. It will be interesting, and have consequences, good or bad, on who they decide to keep, and who they let go. But I really like Rudy's game. He is fearless

Rudy could potentially be as good as Manu, with the emphasis on 'potentially'.

I like that Blazers team alot now...I hope they make the postseason.

How is he overrated? He destroyed the US team in the gold medal game and has been the best player in Europe for some time now...this guy is going to be better than Manu.

10-15-2008, 09:16 PM
16 ppg, 4.5 apg, 4 rpg .....AHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHA, excuse me. Are you serious??? He has potential but those numbers with Roy/Oden....he won't get enough touches....But im still hoping you're joking about the predictions you made.

10-16-2008, 04:52 AM
and he's also a spaniard he never played for argentina, but yeah the man is good, and it seems more and more spaniards are in the nba now, marc gasol, pau gasol, rudy, sergio rodriguez, and jose calderon, if only garbajosa stayed than that would make six spaniards...

So your answer to the question "what type of numbers will he put up in his first season" is "overrated"?

The most overrated players are the ones that are good at one thing. Take for example Kevin Martin , he's an awesome scorer, but at the other end his opponent has field days too because of his lack of defence. I could name NUMEROUS other players. There's no point in being a great scorer when the guy your guarding scores as much because of your lack of defence. That's why players like Melo aren't true superstars and Kobe, Paul and James are...

I'm not at all saying Rudy is anywhere near being a superstar or even all-star (yet) but he has Shooting, Driving, passing and defencive ability. I would call that pretty complete, so next time you call someone overrated make sure you back it up with an argument.

Rudy is nasty. I have him in my season in NBA Live starting PG. Top 3 ROY candidate. He's putting up 13ppg/4apg/3rpg.
