Please read and follow the site rules - the NBA forum will be modded strictly.

There will be a more formal announcement along these lines forthcoming, but for now, please just understand that everybody here is expected to follow the site rules. And that means, among other things:

No baiting.
No insults.
No flaming.
No disruptive behavior
No dodging the language filter.

Everyone's excited for the new season to get underway, and this is a great thing. So let's just keep everything on the up and up so we can have a lot of great, civil, quality discussions about basketball in the PSD NBA Forum.

Thank you.

NBA Forum New Thread Content

As you all know, the regular season is about to start.

This means that there will be a lot of excitement around all the players, and games, and news and everything. And that in turn means that a lot of posters will be wanting to post new threads, which is great.

Some of you may have noticed that during the offseason and preseason, when the going can tend to get slower in the forum, that the moderation of new thread content has been a little more relaxed. What I mean by that is that some threads that normally might be moved to other forums such as the NBA Comparisons, NBA Trade Ideas, FIFA/International, and team forums have been allowed to stay in the NBA forum.

But now that the regular season is underway, we'd like to ask that people try to be a little more careful about posting threads in the right forums, and also just give a heads up that we'll probably have quicker trigger fingers in moving threads from NBA into other forums when appropriate.

Also, the message of the post above this one still stands - and then some. Please do your best to follow the site rules and keep your lively, pointed debates respectful.

Thanks, and enjoy the season!

FYI - Please post all fantasy NBA threads only in the Fantasy Basketball forum:

If you post them in here, they'll get moved over there anyways.

Thanks.

On the closing of threads

It is the intention of PSD and the NBA moderators to maintain a high quality forum here. This means we want solid, high quality discussions about current and interesting NBA news, events, players and teams, that are conducted in a civil, respectful manner.

Part of making this happen will be closing threads that aren't cutting it. This is at the discretion of the mods, and although we ain't perfect, we really just want to make sure the forum runs smoothly, stays on topic, and avoids the notorious forum pitfalls of flame wars and homer fights.

So, types of threads that may be closed include (but are not limited to):

-Threads of pointless adulation ("________ is the best! Rah, rah, rah!")

-Threads of pointless bashing ("_________ is the worst! He sucks! I hate him!")

-Threads which in any way are designed to bait and/or have the potential for starting fights and flame wars

-Threads which are simply off topic and don't belong in the NBA Forum

So, when creating new threads, please keep in mind the kind of high quality discussion that's the goal here, and try to make your threads relevant, thought provoking, and on topic.

Thanks, everybody.

Time to bump and stick this one back up for a while.

All fan rivalries need to stay on the level and within the boundaries of the site rules. Everything above this post still applies.

One point to add to all of the above:

Every post has a little "!" icon in the upper right hand corner that any poster can use to report posts.

So please, if someone is trolling or baiting or insulting or flaming, don't let them draw you into it, because you'll just make it bad for yourself if you try to retaliate or escalate. Just use that button to report the problem to the mods and let us take care of it. You'll keep your own nose clean that way, things will stay a little calmer overall, and everything will get worked out.

Thanks.

I'm going to give this one bump, and then unstick it after 24-36 hours or so. (Too many stuck threads).

Everybody please be aware, as we move into the postseason, that the PSD site rules and the guidelines for the NBA forum described above will be strictly enforced. If you haven't already, please read them, and take them to heart. http://www.bio.psu.edu/people/faculty/strauss/anatomy/misc/Beating%20Heart!!!.gif

Excitement will be ratcheted up, rivalries will get heated up, the intensity will get cranked up as the playoffs get underway. And this is a great thing.

Just don't let it boil over into baiting/flaming/etc., and everything will be Kool and the Gang.
