EL SEGUNDO - Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol will play together for the first time tonight in the Lakers' exhibition opener at the Honda Center.

It's more if this will be the way they play all year. I just can't see Odom playing Point for a season.

If they are going to play Odom at the point...........get Fisher the hell out of the starting lineup. Why not play Sasha at SF? He's a better defender and can shoot the 3 even better than Fish????

Why do you people sit here and complain and say you dont care? You obviously cared if you saw the title and opened the thread. And if you really dont care, then dont post.

Fisher stays in to guard the PG!

Think Magic and Byron Scott ..Magic usually guarded the other teams 2 or 3 while Byron guarded the PG. The same will happen with LO and Fish...

Should be interesting...

Odom should come of the bench. That's the best solution.

true, my bad. It still belongs in the Lakers forum though
I don't think it will work. Odom is a good ball handler, by why have him exert that energy? Plus, other teams will just match up a quick guy on him full court, and then switch quickly in the frontcourt. He will get picked a lot this season if they do that. I think

This is only because Odom is too prima donna to accept a role off the bench. If a player of Manu Ginobili's caliber has the class to come off the bench, Odom better should swallow his pride and do the same if Jackson feels it'll improve team chemistry.

It's just one of Phil Jacksons experiments. Since Odom is most comfortable passing the ball around, it makes sense to try him at PG and let him make some plays for people, and you've still got Fisher's shooting to keep the triangle flowing.

Someone already said in an interview (sorry can't remember who or when), that Odom will still guard the other teams SF, with Kobe on the SG and Fish on the PG, they said it'd be difficult but it's just something to try out in the pre-season. If it doesn't work they'll dump it before the regular season.

Unfortunately for the Lakers I don't think that'll work. Looks like there's already some issues with Bynum returning. It'll be interesting to see who's looks/PT take a dive b/c of Bynum and how the react.

This reminds me of when the Pacers were playing 6'9" Al Harrington at C and 6'11" Jermaine O'Neal at PF. Someone needs to make the sacrifice and come off the bench.

Should be interesting to see how it works out. I would probably ditch Fish from the starting lineup and put Vujacic in instead.

A few people have suggested that, but I think that in the long run, Sasha can provide us better energy off the bench. Fisher gives us stability in the starting line-up whilst Kobe, Pau, Bynum and Odom are trying to mesh, whilst Farmar, Sasha and Ariza can come off the bench to boost the energy level.

I knida think Pau Gasol should come off the bench. Not like it matters, they'll all get plenty of minutes and meet their stat quotas.

You need to replace Odom or Ariza with either Fisher or Sasha (I'd prefer Fish), otherwise teams will just crowd the lane, which would really slow our offense down. We need a sniper out there.

Exactly. That line-up would not win a championship, you need shooters to win.
