The report out is the Pacers are trading Tinsley to the Nuggets for Atkins and Stephen Hunter. This would be a huge cost-cutting move by the Pacers who would have less than $35 million towards salary next summer with only a few left to re-sign. I guess Denver thinks they can start Tinsley, Iverson, JR Smith and Melo at the same time. What a train wreck that would be...

If the Pacers do pull off this trade, wouldn't AK be a good fit for them? Imagine TJ Ford, Dunleavy, Granger, AK, and Hibbert/Troy Murphy. That is a good lineup.

The Jazz could trade AK for Jeff Foster and Nesterovic OR AK and Collins for Jeff Foster and Troy Murphy. Murphy has a big contract, but it's at least $4 million less a year than AK's. Foster would be perfect for Utah. Having Boozer and Millsap at PF and Okur and Foster at C would be the depth and versatility we need for our post to compete with the Spurs, Lakers, etc.

What do you think?

Hopefully, the Pacers would do this trade without Murphy. Murphy is very useful for them since Hibbert is their only center and Murphy can play both the PF and C. Foster and Nesterovic can't be part of the youth movement in Indiana, so trading them for a relatively young and proven PF (AK) should make sense. Nesterovic and Foster for AK would be a celebration for Utah. Some might say we get nothing for AK for the future, but Foster is a guy we might want to keep around after this year. Plus, Nesterovic has the type of contract a team in financial trouble might want to trade for mid-season.

AK has an ugly contract.... But he does help us!! Maybe we should talk to him about a reconstructed contract!! If we release him do we get stuck with his entire contract??

AK cannot restructure his contract for less than he makes and if we release him, we have to pay his entire contract. NBA contracts are guaranteed.

As we look at our team going into the season, our strength and almost too much of a strength in terms of the amount of players is the SF position. AK, Korver, CJ and Harpring play SF. Our weakness is center with only Okur and sometimes Millsap in a small lineup as the only reliable options. Since we have too many SF's, let's trade the least valuable one in terms of what he brings and what he makes. Let's trade AK for a backup center who would help us against the Lakers and Spurs and teams with the bigs.

AK for Nesterovic and Foster. If we have to give up Fes too, then that's fine by me.
