We’ve talked about Livingston before, but now it seems both Phil and Fish would want him here on the Lakers! I’m open for anything that brings us more height and versatility, are you?

O.C. Register: Several teams remain intrigued with the prospect of having Shaun Livingston on its roster. That includes the Lakers, according to head coach Phil Jackson… At 6-foot-7, and possessing uncanny court vision, Livingston is the prototype guard that Jackson covets. There is no one on the Lakers’ roster that has the playmaking skills that Livinston possessed when the Clippers selected him fourth overall in the 2004 draft….

“He’s Phil’s type of cat,” Lakers guard Derek Fisher said. “He’s versatile, with the ability to play a bigger guard defensively. We’re talented now but if Shaun somehow was able to join the mix, we’d be unbelievable.”…

I agree with Fish that the Lakers would be even more unbelievable. This would be a great pickup, I don't understand why everyone is passing on Livingston... the signing will payoff within a year.

He will be mostly useless this season. He still has that potential tag, but that was the worst injury I have ever seen. I just can't see him regaining what he could have been. That being said, I hope my Wolves sign him, because he can at least play 3 positions for 20 mpg a year or two down the line.

There's already a thread for this in the Lakers forum...

So Shaun Livingston would then take out No 1 spot on next years Top 10 PG's. That'll save me from having to vote.

That would be their 5th PG. Fischer, Farmar, Vujacic, Yue. Thats a bad move for lakers unless they have a trade in mind to send atleast 2 of them somewhere new!

sun yue will be in the d league a lot so i dont really count him. first off this would allow the lakers to have a mentor in fisher to teach shaun the triangle. hed have a year just to learn and be comfy in it. the next season he and farmar can take over and fisher will start to step back... hopefully become a coach...

It depends on how he plays because of his injury. I highly doubt he will ever return to his old form and potential. But the Lakers don't really any new players. They have a good squad.

i would love him on the lakers, but it makes most sense that if minny is willing to offer the cash and roster spot that he goes there.

yeah, he sure does.... I dunno why the Denver FO hasn't even tried to talk to him or invited him to workouts. We'll get Mateen Cleaves, and Smush Park to come workout with our guys, but, cant even give Shaun a call??

Makes no sense.

It's unlikely he returns to what he previously was, but there is a chance he can. It's all about confidence and how much he trusts that knee.

Crap Article.

If they would be interested he would be on their training camp or at least he would have worked out for them.

Isnt it?.

I recall some Laker fan saying you have a superstar in Jordan Farmar and compared him with Tony Parker, I was just wondering why would P. Jackson and D. Fisher be so interested in Livingston. Wouldnt that make him a third stringer or D league candidate.

I cant believe were still talking about him anyway, it's not like he's gonna be of any help, furthermore if the Twolves and Heat passed on him (both could really use some help at the point), do you really think he will help a team like the Lakers.

Oh yeah, to the Laker guy that posted about Farmar, please hurry up and post another thread, the last one was hilarious.

I hope for his sake that I'm wrong, but I seriously doubt Livingston will ever be able to really return to a legit NBA level of play without re-aggravating his injury and putting an end to his career. His knee just literally got shredded - every single thing in there that was possible to tear got torn, pretty much. It makes what K-Mart went through look like a boo-boo. Like I say, I hope I'm wrong, and I don't blame any team for taking a chance on him if they've got the payroll to spare. But I was one of the few Nuggets fans who was pretty firmly against bringing him to Denver, for fear of his injury.

That would be dope having him compete for the back up role with Farmar but the Lakers are pretty set IMO.

I think you have it backwards.

The cost of getting him will be low, since every other team has passed on him.

Im curious where is the high reward, and please dont tell me "if he can" or "if he does".

I wish him the best in the future, but I'd hate to see the guy messed up down the road.

Im from Portland, so have seen my fair share of knee injuries, G.Oden,D.Miles,Z.Randolph to name a few and S.Livingston's is worse than any of them(Miles was supposedly career ending)

My impression was that he'd sit behind Fisher and Farmar on the depth chart, then he'd start seeing minutes when he understood the triangle, and when/if he could get to the point where he could really contribute.

It's looking like him to Miami is a done deal now though, which is a shame from the Lakers' perspective, but not crushing or anything. Him and Wade could be very dangerous, good luck to Shaun
