Well his annual team forecasts are up what do you make of his predictions for your team? Underrated, Overrated, Clueless or Genius?

I think he sometimes makes very valid points...but he is too much of a stat freak and me, I like more circumstantial analysts that say it like it is, like Charley Rosen.

My 76ers 3rd in the Eastern conference, 52-30, how could I be sad with that :)

Well the Spurs page isnt up yet but he should have it soon, just have an open mind when reviewing it, and yea I love Rosen's in game breakdowns but hes too brash with his writing sometimes.

Pacers 7th in the East?! I reaaaaaaaaaally don't think so. Thats just me. I don't see them making the playoffs.

Generally most of the previews are clueless IMO.

They seem to have used simulation mode on NBA Live to determine team's records or how far they will go in the playoffs.

^ Go to any team's review and check out the right hand panel. For example here is Phoenix's:
http://www.nba.com/preview2008/phx.html
Where we supposedly finish 8th in the West with a 47-35 record and then lose to the Lakers in the first round 4-3. Obviously they haven't based a team's whole season preview on this NBA simulation, but it has seemed to influence it a bit which annoys me.

At first I thought he was just a stat geek, but he seems to be right a majority of the time. I was comfortable with his predictions. We will see what he says out west today

WOW Talk about random, dude that has nothing to do with my thread, I thought you were talking about the Season Forecasts, go to ESPN's homepage and click on the suns, but from what I remember I think hes pretty down on the Suns.

He has the Jazz winning the west, not so sure about that. Its most likely going to be either the Lakers (of course), Hornets, or Rockets.

The Cavs I think will win the division, and I also think they will be higher than the 5th seed.

I agree when he says the Jazz can win the West, They are a very talented team.

Detroit shouldnt be that good there on the decline right now.

I disagree Heat 9th?
I see them being 7-8th seed in the east

Jazz are his favorite team. But the jazz will be alot better than people think this year. mainly because over half the team is playing for contracts

I don't see how Utah can't be a contender to win the west. They are up there with anyone.

I agree with John for this year. They will add a point, or Chalmers will mature to at least capable, and at least draw a center/power forward next summer, I could see them being back in that 4-5 seed range next season if the cards fall right, and the Beas develops.

Hollinger sucks, but i admire him for saying that King James is the best player in the NBA. Cavs are going to win 53 games next year, and beat the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.

I pretty much agree with all of his Nuggets analysis except for the win prediction... we'll be far better than 41-41, I'm confident of that (but not predicting 60, just for the record).

Unfortunately, you not only agree with the prediction, but anything that is against the Lakers.

I don't know if it's ignorance, bias, or both.

DenButsu
10-02-2008, 03:05 AM
Well, if it does get bumped and checked in a few months, here's something for everyone's signatures:

I'll predict that the Nuggets will be 2nd in the NW division (after Utah and above Portland) and no lower than 8th (but possibly as high as 5th or 6th) in the WC by 1/1/2009.

i don't agree with his predictions 100% but i think they're respectable. He went in depth with his analysis and justified his predictions very well.

Nuggets are overrated.

it's hard not to overrate them when they have AI, Carmelo, and JR Smith. Those three might not be known for their defense but they're DEFINELTY are known for their offense.

Yea but I can almost guarantee alot of things

Nuggets are overrated.

You think 9th in the west with a .500 record is overrated?
