Landry To Sign Offer Sheet

League sources have informed HOOPSWORLD that Rockets' restricted free agent Carl Landry will sign a three-year, $9 million offer sheet from the Charlotte Bobcats.

Once signed, the Rockets will have seven days to match the offer, a deal which would put the Rockets very close to the NBA luxury tax.

The Rockets have maintained all summer that they would match any deal given to Landry, and it seems Landry is ready to force the issue.

League sources said that Rocket's GM Daryl Morey flew out and met with Carl last week and tendered a new offer, rumored to be roughly half of what the Bobcats' are offering.

Sources said Landry is in Charlotte now, and the deal could become official later today.

More as it develops.

Rockets have no choice, they are a title contender, luxury tax means nothing when you are a legit team to win it all.

Why would they even make that offer? NO doubt the Rockets will match that.

I don't think the Rockets are gonna match, I think there gonna try to resign Artest at the end of the season, but Landry would be a nice pick up by the Bobcats if they get him.

The rockets have already said they will match any offer Landry gets, and this isnt really even a very big offer

Since when is Landry a $9 million player?

He was a second round pick. Its his second season. He's undersized at 6-7, 245 lbs.

He averaged 8 pts and 5 rebs in 17 minutes over 42 games? Seriously where is the $9 million potential?

its a 3 year deal so 3 mil a year...not that bad of a contract for a bigman you showed some promise last year in minimal minutes...

Thanks to John Hollingers PER, you get guys like Landry that are overrated. That being said, he is a great bench player. For 3 million a year, and with Hayes being out for a bit, they will match, even though Scola can fill the void. But you know Ming is not healthy, so they need big men. They have no choice. They should have resigned him a month ago. They could have gotten him for less.

Houston has a lot of overloaded fronts I think he'd be much better off going to Charlotte. Not that Charlotte will likely do anything major this year. But who knows.

yeah, exactly. When Yao went down during the 22 game winning streak, landry was putting up 16-20 ppg, he played a huge role in last years team.

now they got to get back under salary

DM said he was gonna make some moves so he could do that....probably trade Luther Head for a draft pick or something....

The Rockets need to hold on to Landry. Letting him slip away for such a reasonable salary (3 million per year) would be foolish. Hell, I wouldn't be mad if my Lakers spent the entire MLE on him.

LOL That Hollinger remark made no sense man

It does make sense. he ranked the 18th best player in the NBA with pure stats. Does this mean a lot? not really, but it gets people thinking he is more valuable than he is. ESPN is the biggest sports site, people pay attention to it. I could care less about stats per 40 minutes, unless you are playing 40 minutes, they are not correct. But some do the translation
