For an example imagine if it was a NBA fantasy free draft u would get to choose any player u want who would u take for ur favourite NBA team?

Right now I would take a dominant big man like Dwight Howard.

My team has already had a great SG and great SF so I would like a great Center.

thats a tough call. But as a Laker fan, I would definitely take CP3. I could only imagine what the Lakers would do with this starting 5.

CP3
Kobe
Odom
Gasol
Bynum

That is one sick lineup. If that stayed healthy it wins 70 plus...

well, you would have to be competing against a 3 year old girl in your fantasy league to get that lineup. You can have Odom and Bynum though, I can think of a ton better

I'd bring Gerald Wallace back to Sacramento.

Beno Udrih/Bobby Jackson/Bobby Brown
Kevin Martin/Francisco Garcia/Quincy Douby
Gerald Wallace/John Salmons/Donte Greene
Mikki Moore/Jason Thompson/Sheldon Williams
Brad Miller/Spencer Hawes

Or we could go small...

Beno Udrih
Kevin Martin
John Salmons (Way better when he starts)
Gerald Wallace

I'm a knicks fan, so with D'antoni there I'd want steve nash to run the show. A starting 5 of Nash, Crawford, Chandler, Gallinari and Zbo would be a scoring machine. Shame you have to play defense to win though

I really don't think Paul and Kobe would work that great in the back court, since they both need the ball to be effective.

For the Lakers I would go with some one like Shane Battier. We seem to have all the offense we need, but the two biggest weaknesses exposed in the finals was our perimeter D and toughness.

We get some toughness back with Bynum, and in Battier we'd have someone who will really help our perimeter D as well as toughness.

Dwight Howard. The Knicks need a big man like Dwight. Damn take out Curry put in Dwight Knicks would actually be pretty good.

Since my team is the Cavs, I already have LeBron so I would definently go with a Dominant big Man so I would chooose Dwight Howard.

PG: Mo Williams
SG: Daniel Gibson or Delonte West
SF: LeBron James
PF: Dwight Howard
C: Zydruans Ilgauskas

That's real smart...let's play Howard who doesn't have a jumpshot at PF and Z who is incredibly slow at center...Bosh would fit a lot better with the Cavs or another mobile PF.

I think Kobe can be effective off the ball, he has the intelligence and athletism to know how to get open, but it is well known that for him to be at his most dangerous when he was the ball, and you wouldn't want to pay him as much as he gets paid for him to be half as effective as he can be.

I think a Howard/Wallace front court would work better. Since Howard and Ilgauskas both play close to the basket, it would get crowded, but since Wallace is athletic enough to move around on defense, it'd be a more effective line-up IMO.

Obviously Wallace needs to be close to the basket for his offense, but he's pretty much a non factor on that end anyway...

knicks1214
09-24-2008, 04:34 PM
If Wallace is a non factor and if you already have a good back to the basket player, why would you get Howard? If you get Howard in either situation, you have no big guys who can shoot. That's why I said someone like Bosh or maybe even Dirk.

That's a good point. I was thinking of Howard as just an upgraded back to the basket player over Big Z, with Wallace there for his defense. Bosh or Dirk would make a lot of sense for the Cavs though.

So, I already did my favorite team-Knicks=Lebron. Now, can you imagine Lebron with my second favorite team-Lakers? PG-Fisher, SG-Kobe, SF-Lebron, PF-Gasol, C-Bynum. That team would have 4 potential all stars in the starting lineup. Good bye Celtics big three, hello Lakers big four.

Like with having Paul and Kobe in the back court, by having Kobe and LeBron on the same team you'd be massively taking away from one players effectiveness IMO. You don't want a Kobe Bryant on your team just for him to be a spot up shooter...

knicks1214
09-24-2008, 04:59 PM
I know but you could then have 2 players, both wing players, who can drop 40+ any night...and there are no NBA teams with 2 shut down defenders so with the Lakers, they would have to pick their poison. Paul would be a great fit also though.

Tim Duncan

PG: AI
SG: JR
SF: Mello

or maybe Brand but I would have to trade AI it would be too many scorers but what they really need is a big man with D...

knicks1214
09-24-2008, 09:29 PM
That would be nice with the Mavs. Two big guys who can play pf or center-Dirk can kinda play center depending on who the opposing center is. Or, if they want to go big they can do PG-Kidd, SG-Howard, SF-Dirk, PF-Jefferson, C-Dampier. That would be very interesting.

This is a great thread and good food for thought. As a Jazz fan, the choice would be pretty obvious. Kobe is the best SG in the league, but I doubt that he would fit Utah's system. The same goes for LeBron.

However, adding Dwight Howard to the Jazz would be an easy title. Deron at the PG, Brewer as the perimeter defender, Korver as the 3 point threat, Boozer as the post offense and mid range shooter then Howard doing everything Utah needs (defense, rebounding, athleticism). I would sacrifice AK and Okur to get Howard.

Deron
Brewer
Korver
Boozer
Dwight Howard

WOW - it's all about fit, and this would be perfect. Everybody has a role and everybody would compliment each other.

Id have to go with either Dwight Howard, the best big man in the game right now or Kobe Bryant the best all around player in the world and yes he is the best would u like to know why? because he is the only player in the NBA that will average 25 to 30 points a game AND get first team all NBA defense every season. Yea Lebron and Mcgrady and CP3 are all fantastic players dont get me wrong but none of them can play defense like Kobe can. As for the ****** that wanted steve nash to run the show, u can take the old man. His time has passed and hes not the player he was 4 years ago. Three guards off the top of my head that r better then nash... CP3, parker, wade

It looks good on paper, but in an actual game one of them would always be just standing around doing nothing, so it'd be hard to find chemistry.

I think Deron Williams dominate the ball a bit less than CP3, so he'll make a better fit. plus, he's tougher, and has better defense. better shooter too. we need more shooting, because Odom's playing the SF.
