Didn't anyone watch Sesame Street when they were kids? It's the same type of thing. It's good marketing for the NBA to get kids interested in the league.

Are you kidding me? I had exactly the opposite reaction. It's pretty cool to get asked to do a show like that. There are so many jerks in pro sports and someone's criticizing a player for being a hero to kids? I don't think so.

I'm glad he doesn't think he's too "cool" to go on a kid's show....he's just too "cool" to play defense:D

My favorite thing about the article is where it said Amare can maintain his street cred because Biz Markie appeared on the show previously....that statement is ridiculous on so many levels....

Be happy he's not some ******* who's 'keeping it real' while being involved in assorted shootings in the parking lots of strip clubs.

Did you never watch Sesame Street? I was more of a Power Rangers kid maybe that's why I'm more violent, but i don't see what's wrong with it. I actually have gained respect 4 him not acting "too cool 4 school."

i originally thought it would be some sort of josh howard "statement", nothing wrong with what amare did, perhaps he could go to strip clubs and start shooting his gun in the air get some of your respect back

My daughter loves that show! I can't understand anyone who won't act at least a little goofy for kids - I'd do anything to make her smile.

People that mock someone for making kids smile don't deserve respect....

As everyone else has said, you must be like 10. That is an extremely nice thing for Amare to do, to act as a role model for kids. All NBA players should be honored for a kids' show to ask them to appear on an episode.

Why the hell did you lose respect for Amare? He did a kids show. I think it is way awesome of my Favorite player to do, considering I have an 11 month old daughter who loves seeing that show. I give him props. How many NBA Players will actually do something like that?

09-25-2008, 10:25 AM
So what is wrong with a sports guy making an appearance for kids?

Would you rather have him be another Pacman Jones just to get/keep a thug image?

Wow

CityKid415
09-25-2008, 10:50 AM
Nothing Wrong here. I think he's setting a positive image for himself. Showing he cares about the young kids. Other players have done something of this sort in the past.
