Which duo would you rather have to build your team around for the next 3 years if the rest of the players on the teams are virtually equal in talent in the starting 5 and benches?

Dirk Nowitzki and Carmelo Anthony

Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce

Vince Carter and Tim Duncan

Lebron James and Elton Brand

Gilbert Arenas and Dwight Howard

Chris Paul and Yao Ming

Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol

Dwyane Wade and Al Jefferson

T-mac and Chris Bosh

Deron Williams and Amare Stoudemire

either kobe and Gasol or Gilbert Arenas and Dwight Howard

Injuries aside that Wade - Jefferson tandem looks tempting, but I'd probably take Paul and Yao (again injuries aside). The two best players at the hardest positions to find really good players.

I picked Agent 0 and Howard. A dominating post presence and a guard who can create and hit from anywhere. 2nd was prob. Wade and Jefferson if only Wade didn't need the post so much (Al might get in his way). Pierce and KG actually compliment each other nicely. Worst duo, Melo and Dirk.

wade and jefferson. even though wade was already my 2nd favorite player for a few years now, im really high on him after seeing what he did in the olympics. jeffersons a consistent 20-10 guy. these two would be able to complement each others games very well, with each helping out in the others weak areas.

I would go with Lebron-whoever then Paul and Yao. Lebron is a beast and two superstars often doesn't really translate to better than one superstar, but just because Lebron is a mega super star. Aside from that, I would choose Chris Paul because he will be the best PG for years to come. He can assist, score, steal, you name it and Yao is one of the best big men. He can score, shoot FT for a center, block. If he someone more reliable than Tmac, they would have been to the WCF already imo.

Deron and Amare or Lebron and Elton (if Elton is healthy). Lebron with another elite player would equal a championship, and Deron with a player as good as Amare would be insane as well.

I went for Arenas and Howard, but I'd want Arenas playing SG with a PG who can spread the ball around.

i'm surprised so many of you want arenas...
for me, it's either kobe and gasol or lebron and elton brand.
this is for the next 3 years... so i want players that are in their prime right now, proven winners, combos that will for sure work together, an inside-outside game, etc.
and i counted injuries because that's what happens in the NBA... you might look good on paper, but if you're injured half the time, you're not going to win many games.

I went for LeBron + Brand.

I probably would have gone for LeBron + a dude from the YMCA

I went with age and picked Dwill and STAT. Makes the most sense. Dominating Point with a dominating big is just scary. non homer pick whatsoever.

LeBron an Elton or Deron and Amare.

Lebron23

LeBron James and Elton Brand.

LeBron is not yet in his prime, but he's already putting some crazy numbers in the NBA, and Elton Brand is one of the best PF in the league before he got injured last year.

My 2nd pick is Chris Paul and Yao Ming, and the thought of CP3 throwing some sick pass to Yao Ming is insane.

i agree that would probably be the worst duo just like the duo that Melo has now. two offensive players who are scared of defense.

i would take oden and roy....

ok dude come on we get it. your a blazers fan but put your fanhood aside for a second and play along. while roy is a rising star you would be a fool to choose Oden who has yet to even play an nba game and roy over establish superstars. Be real

It's between D-Will/Amare or D-Wade/ Al Jefferson. I chose the D-Will/Amare combo since they are both elite NBA players, with no current injury problems and are very young.

I went with Chris Paul and Yao Ming. If Yao could be injury free for a whole year, Chris Paul would make is life easier than it has ever been. With that being said, if Kobe and Bynum were an option, I would have gone with it.

Nice pairings of players. it was a toss up between Arenas/Howard and Williams/Stoudemire. It was Williams/Stoudemire but only because of Arenas' run of injury problems lately.

I would have to say LeBron James because he's one of the greatest ever in the NBA history.

Good Thread. How about Kobe and Bynum? lol. I would rather build around those 2 stars. As far as the list is concerned, I would select Lebron and E. Brand and Kobe and Gasol. I think Pierce and KG are lethal, but let's not forget Ray Allen. He was lethal in the finals against us, he shot .50pct from the field and avg. 20 a game. People forget how important R. Allen was to Boston's success.

1. Lebron and E. Brand
2. Kobe and Gasol (I am not a huge fan of Gasol, although I am glad to have him on our team)
3. KG and Pierce

Deron is the best PG in the NBA, Quote me. Amare is just Amare, best young big man in the NBA.

Deron and Amare. That would be a devastating pick and roll for other teams to try to handle.

Dirk and Carmello would be the worst all-star duo ever. Both ball hogs and choke artists

in the next 6 years if bosh needs a title or carmelo its gonna be Bosh - Carmelo - Tmac(maybe if hes still able to play in the NBA that time if hes not gonna retire.

Deron+Stoudemire.

next 3 years right? Deron's an excellent PG, who can also shoot, drive, score, finish. Deron's a good defender as well. Stoudemire isn't the best defense, but his offense is amazing, and along with Deron, that'll dominate.

but you can't go wrong with any of them.
