Howard Beck of the New York Times reports that the Knicks are expected to part ways with Stephon Marbury.

"Most of the Knicks' top rotation players from last season have been scrimmaging at the team's training center," writes Beck. "The group has included Jamal Crawford, Eddy Curry, David Lee, Nate Robinson, Jared Jeffries, Wilson Chandler and Zach Randolph, as well as the free-agent pickup Chris Duhon. The most notable absence has been Stephon Marbury, who is expected to be waived before the season."http://******.com/src_wiretap_archives/54439/20080918/marbury_expected_to_be_waived/

What team will pick him up?

Possibly the Miami HEAT.

does that mean he is getting paid out? So will he make his 20 mil from the knicks? If that was the case, I would beg to get on a contending team. SA, LAL, Boston. Otherwise just retire.

come to the CELTICS!!!!

I normally wouldnt want em. But ive been hearing we might sign cassell. I MUCH MUCH MUCH rather Starbury than Cassell any day as the backup to Rondo. Especially if hes guaranteed money from NY, maybe hell sign for the minimum with us.

Probably not

I'd like him on the lakers anyday....I believe he still is as good as he was 4yrs ago jus injuries...a dysfunctional team....and etc have plagued him. If he comes in this yr on any normal team for example if he goes to miami and its marbury wade marion haslem and blount I gurantee he will average at least 15 to 18pg and at least 6 to 8 apg the guy is good and is a proven scorer and point guard he will throw allys to beasely marion and wade all day.....same case for gs and he lost weight so he can run....if he was on lakers I could see him backing up both kobe and fisher or switchin kobe to sf and having him and farmar at guard and him giving 10ppg 3 to 5 apg and getting a title.... I like the guy I wish him luck....

He can come play on the lakers.

I say he goes either to Miami or Boston. Him and KG are still tight, besides that, Miami is in need of a PG but not quite sure how he would fit since D-Wade will have the ball in his hands for the most part.

Interesting. not surprising. but interesting. with marbury, its hard to know where he'll go. Personally though, as much as I think he wants to win a ring, he also wants to start, and that wouldn't happen on a lot of teams, plus hes got a lot of baggage and teams, especially young(er) teams are going to pass. It will be interesting to see where, if anywhere, he lands.

This is retarted, the Knicks did not say they they were going to waive him. One injury to a guard and he goes from being a 16th wheel to starter. We are going to hold him until the last minute, Zeke is not running the show any more or he would have been waived months ago. Now that we have a smart, patient GM we will get value out of him.

MOst likely the Heat. However, there is a slim chance the Bulls pick him up then dump HInrichs ***. Very slim though as I said

That is what I heard too! I bet he will. What NBA team is gonna be able to pick up the contract that he wants? I guess if he wants a championship, then I see him going to the top contenders in either the west or east.

The Heat sounds like a strong possibility.....Marbury is still extremely talented and can be a very, very productive guy if he's in the right place....

Also....what about a KG reunion in Boston?? He would make a nice 6th man if he bought into the system....big if....

Yeah big if. I would be shocked if he actually went for a back-up role.

good fit with Boston i beleive. Him and KG are tight. And we obv. need a backup PG. Especially one who can score like he can. His "baggage" would not be a problem in boston, and around KG.

Lakers, Boston, & Miami will be his first options maybe even Magic...(I called it)

It's all going to depend on the role he wants to play.

My guess is that he'll end up on the Heat. Various reports suggested that the Miami had huge interest in him. Not sure if he'd be a good fit with Dwayne Wade though, he's always dominating the ball.

Also, I seriously doubt he goes to a contender. He doesn't give a **** about that, he wants playing time since he has 20 mil in the books already.

well i dont understand how they can "waive" him:S if he still makes the $20m, i would try going to a championship contender team for low money. like with rockets, lakers, or magic. He can make any one of those team into serious championship teams.

lakers:
PG: Starbury
SG: Kobe
SF: Odom
PF: Pau
C: Bynum

rockets:
PG: Starbury
SG: T-Mac
SF: Artest
PF: Scola
C: Yao

magic:
PG: Starbury
SG: Bogans
SF: Hedo
PF: Rashard
C: D12

but if he doesn't get the $20m, then i suspect he goes w/ heat.

he's still a all star caliber player, i could see him going to a contender. maybe miami, Denver, celtics, houston(long shot), but he wont go to the lakers, they al ready have 3 god PG's. ITALY?

i dont think he'd be a good fit with thelakers at all. Too many people want the ball on the lakers, and they have Fish and Farmar at the point already.

He's going to be an excellent role player for a contending team, and people forget that Marbury was one of the most talented PG in the early part of this decade.

Stephon played on some $hitty team in his NBA Career, and now he can redeem himself by playing for the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers or Boston Celtics next season.

NBA Career Stats: 19.7 ppg, 7.8 apg, 1.2 spg, 3.0 rpg, 0.1 bpg, .785 FT%, .434 FG%

He may end up in Cleveland or Denver.

Why does everyone keep saying Denver?!?

Two true statements:

1-Yes, we do need a better point guard.

2-But hell no, the last guy we need on our roster - in terms of chemistry, locker room, general wacko factor, etc. - is Marbury.

And in this case, 2 is a lot more important than 1.

Wait a minute guys.. I see three pages of posts where Marbury should go and so on.. Does anyone here actually understand what waiving means and how it works? Doesn't seem like it.. I suggest you google it up..

Man oh man, i use 2 LOVE Marbury he was my favorite player. His style of play and his strength. Then out of the blue dude just literally, went crazy. He's crazy. Great tattoo on his cranium and is a wacko now, wish he was still that 21 ppg 8.3 aspg Marbs i use 2 love:(

I think, Marbury really thinks he's one of the best in the league. And that kinda knucklehead could be dangerous for any team's chemistry. But, who knows what could happen. Afterall, Rasheed turned out just fine in Detroit, except for a few techs here and there.

Marbury is ***** anyway. The Knicks are the Biggest joke in the history of the NBA next to the Miami Heat and the New Jersey (Fat@$$) Carters.

If he signs the minimum, I will take him on the Rockets.

But I really see him signing with the Heat or take the money and go to a European team.

Marbury will bum the fans out wherever he goes. He's completely unlikeable off and on the court, has no team spirit and takes his team out of the offense. He's a score-first PG, in other words, he doesn't really play an NBA position. The only thing he excels at is getting to the hole. Streaky shooter, so-so decision maker, average defender. Add to that the fact that he has the ego of a top-tier player without the goods to back it up and he's just not a good fit for any team that's trying to be serious about winning games.

I still believe that this guy can play bball... He just needs to have an objective, strict discipline around him and a kick in a butt... You cannot deny, this guy has some talent

Contending teams that can use him...

Lakers: (they'd be the team to beat, if they add Starbury.. Him Kobe,Lamar,Bynum,Gasol ???? They'd be stacked....

Jazz: They might move him to SG.. The Jazz put 2 PG's on the floor alot.. They get Marbury at league minimum.. they can trade some of their young studs with AK to clear cap room, to resign Boozer

Golden State: He runs the floor really good still. He'd help that young team alot.. But at this age he'd want to go to a contender...

Heat: Best Fit.. with WADE and "BEAST"ly they'd dominate the east...

Boston... Be reunited with KG... Back up Rondo or the other way around!!!
