I like the comparision with McGrady.
They're both oversized agile SG's.

Durant has to get stronger though.

ya i agreed.. another thing, i see durant as tmac who played in orlando magic, since both are sole players who score on their team consistently.. they were the bread winner in their teams..

durant is a much better shooter than t mac was when he game out and tmac was a much better defender, but this is a very good comparison. maybe pippen aswell.

durant will be a 24ppg and 6rpg guy...hes cool and whatnot but he needs to leave seattle or wherever they are now....because that team is going nowhere fast...him and desmond mason are gonna be miserbable next year they should try to ship him to phx or like ummmm somewhere like golden state he would have a decent time in those places his numbers would decrease to like 15ppg but whatever

I HATE COMPARISONS.

Especially so early in K.D's career. Just let the man play basketball and become Kevin Durant. Why doe he have to be the next T-mac?? A player that cant get out of the first round? I like McGrady, i just dont like comparing players. They may have similair games. But there different players. Just let Durant build his career and legacy.

Durant at his draft was compared to Dirk/T-mac as his max potential.

chokes in the playoffs, always injured when needed and disappears?

hmmm not sure if that is a good thing.. But I think tmac has more raw talent

LOL! For the sake of the Oklahoma city "Bombers" I hope he turns out to be the next t-mac. They maybe moving back home to seattle in a hurry.

McGrady actually was a slighter better shooter than Durant his first year (FG 45%/ 3pt 34% for T-Mac vs 43%/29% for Durant). Kevin's main advantage over Tracy is that he shoots 87% from the free throw line, vs. McGrady's career 75%.

While their bodystyles and game are similar, it's hard to compare the two statistically since McGrady was not a full time starter until his fourth year (first in Orlando). There he averaged 26.8ppg, 7.5rpg, 4.6 apg, and shot 46%/36%. But again, he had almost three years on Toronto's bench to mature.

Kevin Durant is a lot closer to Rashard Lewis than Tracy McGrady.

If he gets stronger, I think he will be like McGrady, but a lot more durable IMO.

Tmac was an elite defender and passer from day 1, Durant lacks that basketball IQ and overall athletic ability

Yea agreed. Because he had to play D to get of the bench in Toronto. And as for the Rashard lewis comparison i kinda agree with that one a lil more for right now. But i hope he gets better than Lewis because i believe Lewis is grossly overrated. he is a scorer but nothing else. not a passer, defender or nothing. and i would expect more rebounds form a 6'10 guy. I think with time Kevin can mature into an all around player like T Mac

Like others have said, Durant is very weak physically. Durant looks like one of those people with such a fast metabolism that it's nearly impossible for them to gain muscle.

Due to being so weak physically, I'm not sure if he'll ever be a great defender. The people on this board that play or have played basketball know how much strength can affect you both on the offensive and defensive end. I can assure you that if he was a bit stronger, his field goal percentage would be higher. He settles a lot instead of taking it to the whole and finishing strong.

That all aside, his offensive game is very similar to T-Mac's.

T-Mac hasn't really accomplished much so far(11th season)....so lets let Durant be Durant

Tracy McGrady is a terrible outside shooter. He shoots 29% from long-range yet took about 290 of them last year. He has a terrible shot selection. I hope Kevin Durant isn't like him. He should be better.

I understand the T-mac comparison, but Dirk? I guess, because he's good at shooting, but besides that, Dirk is a PF, Durant is a SF/SG.

durant should try the Michael Phelps diet.

I like the comparison to McGrady a lot. Durant should bulk up over time and hopefully improve his defense. Once that is done he will be extremely similar to McGrady IMO. In terms of the Rashard Lewis comparison, I don't really like it because Durant is much more versatile offensively IMO.

Durant has molded his games around Tmac, and Tmac tried to mold his around Penny's. Its weird how far off their calculations are, but still the similarities are there. Durant has the potential to be a more efficient scorer but unless he can make players around him better the way Tmac has always been able to hes not going to be as good of an offensive weapon. He is more of a Rashard Lewis than a Tmac.

KD can't bench 180, i can see him like a T-Mac but he needs to get much stronger if he wants to even survive a few seasons.

not at all

sure he is. both him and rashard lewis have skinny bodies, they struggle to play defense and get rebounds. they both settle for outside shots and driving and fadeaways. i think when all the hype settles on durant he'll end up being just a slightly better player than rashard lewis, better at slashing and slightly worse at jumpers.

t mac was just as skinny as durant when he came into the league
