Obviously, Thornton falls behind due to minutes. With Thornton given 35+ minutes this coming season. Is it possible that he can average more if not better numbers than Gay or Granger and deliver All-Star numbers?

I hope Thornton has a allstar season next year, he has worked on his game this offseason and is looking to add to his rookie season. i would next say Rudy.

hard to tell.

I'd say granger might be the first one to make it to the allstars simply because he alrady has put in a few years, and east just isn't up to par.

but rudy gay has just as good of a shot.

simply being a clipper thornton may get snubbed until we as a team starts to impress NBA

I like all but I think you're right Ned. Thornton will probably get snubbed till we actually prove everyone wrong. And though Granger has payed some dues, I would still have to go with Gay being the first to become an All-Star. I think Memphis will highly rely on Gay and Mayo to carry their team. While Indiana will have to spread the wealth with Granger, Ford, Dunlevey, Murphy, and so on. So I go with Gay, Granger, then Thornton.

It's clear they're all capable of being all-stars, but will they?

First and foremost all 3 have a long way to go and their teams are going to have to win before they're even considered. This pretty much takes Gay and Granger out of the equation for a couple seasons. For Thornton, Diddy and likely Kaman have the priority over him, so don't expect him to gear up for ASW anytime soon either.

^^Indeed. But it will be an interesting race to see who does it first.

Thornton will be the man for the Clipps from this year on. I don't think a Clipper will get the all-star nod this year though. They will have to pull a lot of early wins to get noticed by the voters.

As a Forward in the West, no chance. Atleast thats what Ive grown accustomed to from Brands stay, and Brand was dominant so how does Thornton stand a chance? Baron will be our All-Star and once a team has 1 it better be among the best teams in the league to sport 2 of them.

Still the main point remains, can Thornton catch up to Gay and Granger? If they are all-star caliber then could Thornton do the same? I would be satisfied if Thornton next year is as good as those guys were last year. But could he make that EXTRA leap forward in his progression, its a tricky subject.

He has alot of improving to do

Hard for me to imagine Granger and I hate to say it Thornton making an all-star game. That's another problem with Thornton's age. Even if he does improve at a normal 2nd and 3rd year players pace he will be too old by the time he is recongnized as an all-star player. It takes a good 4 or 5 years to really get your reputation up to where it needs to be, Thornton will already be 29-30 years old. He will have a 2 or 3 year window to make an all-star so it will be really tough for him.

Gay I can see making 2 or 3 all-star games. He and Mayo should be on some good teams in their primes.

Well if he doesn't ever become an All-Star, I hope he at least helps build this team to become a more respectable and championship contending team for other All-Star caliber players to come in and play for us in the future.

The better our players get and the better our team excels each year should attract others to come in and play for us without having to hesitate. Lebron or Kobe might not want to play for the Clippers now, but if we continue to prove everyone wrong and establish a better name for this team. Guys would want to play with a guy like Thornton and help contend for a title.

They'll all become allstars but not just yet. The first I think will be Gay, then Thornton then Granger.

Don't get me wrong I think he can become an all-star caliber player I just doubt he will make one. I see him being more of a team then a me guy. For now we need his scoring by the time he is at all-star level we might need him for other parts of his game. I can see him being a lock down defender on the wings or becoming a PF late in his career if he gains another 20 pounds.

one think every has to remember is that all star teams are vote by the fan if thorrnton keep make highlight plays and dunking on people. we may see him their sooner then later.

Would you rather he be an All-Star caliber player who didnt make the AS Game, or would you rather him make the All-Star game but not be an All-Star caliber player? Just curious

PS I keep hearing about how athletic Thornton is, Im starting to believe he has that potential to bust out. I think the fact that he was old for a rookie has led me underestimate it but I really hope he defies the odds, he has the talent. But if he doesnt bring it this season then Ill give in to reality.

i cant have both. Thornton will get better every year and he has a great work ethic. his age has nothing to do with it he picks up thing great and now that he has a postion that he will play the majority of his time, i can see his game begining to round out and we will see how good he really is.

I wouldn't mind Thornton not making the AS game and still be an All-Star caliber player. Either way, like Ned said...He's probably gonna get snubbed anyways just for being in a Clipper uniform.

krazyclipperfan
09-18-2008, 02:21 PM
^^that could happen but when they turn thing around everyone will take notice and have to give them credit. i still think he has a chance to be an allstar at least once in his career.

Once is good enough for me. I think he will prove all doubters that he's a legitimate star in this league and will work his butt off to prove so.

in alot of ways i see as Dominique Wilkins. he start his career at the same age and could potentally be that good.

sad to say it but he i dont think he will make it.first of all the west is loaded with great Forwards, Melo, T Mac, e.t.c, secondly he is on the clippers and we dont get any respect, he got snubbed from the rookie game.

He's gotta learn how to get past the first round first.

Even sadder, he has a HOF player by his side.

Melo is hardly a HOFer yet. He could end up being another Jerry Stackhouse still.

Melo=worthy.

a great #2 scorer, will never have his own championship as #1

kylem4711
09-21-2008, 06:54 PM
i think he has the chance to, he just needs to want to play defense. i dont know if that will happen thouigh

krazyclipperfan
09-22-2008, 09:38 PM
i think his defense will pick up if they get a defensive mind coach. as for now his focus is offense.

kylem4711
09-23-2008, 02:00 AM
mmmmmm, its on the player. just cause a coach is good at offense doesn't mean the player has to be horrible at defense

krazyclipperfan
09-23-2008, 12:16 PM
that true but if the coach does stay on the player to pickup his defense and actions are take when he doesnt. the same thing was going on with corey he did begin to pickup his defense.

kylem4711
09-23-2008, 03:55 PM
i dont think he did. he just tried to take more charges

krazyclipperfan
09-23-2008, 06:40 PM
he did he started take more charges and he was pulling more rebounds. it was a start he wasnt doing that before.

kylem4711
09-23-2008, 07:38 PM
charges are the laziest thing to do. how many more rebounds? cause i dont remember him doing that

krazyclipperfan
09-23-2008, 08:03 PM
that are but they can get your team an extra possession. not very many more it went up a couple of percentage points.
