New Jersey has homecourt Advantage

New Jersey Nets Lineup:

Jason Terry, Jason Williams, Sam Cassell
Larry Hughes, Rasual Butler, Fred Jones
Vince Carter, Michael Finley, Austin Croshere
Kevin Garnett, Etan Thomas, Donyell Marshall
Shaq O'Neal, Jammal Magloire, Loren Woods

Miami Heat Lineup:

PG- TJ Ford/Steve Francis/Roger Mason
SG- Dwayne Wade/Cuttino Mobley/Daequan Cook
SF- Corey Maggette/Matt Harpring
PF- Al Harrington/Kenny Thomas
C- Kurt Thomas/Robin Lopez

New Jersey Series Writeup:

This is a matchup where we feel we have a huge advantage. The Heat lack size down low, and size is what the Nets most have. How are you going to have much success with two 6'9'' big men down low?

Keep this in mind: NO HEAT PLAYER WILL BE ABLE TO ATTACK THE BASKET WITH SHAQ AND KG DOWN LOW.

Ford vs Terry
Terry wins, clearly. Perhaps Ford is more of a real PG, but Terry knows what winning is all about, he's got huge playoff experience. He's AS QUICK as Ford, so speed won't help Ford much. Ford is a small PG so he'll have to stick to outside shooting, which he's not very good at. Meanwhile, we've seen Terry shoot in the clutch at will. You can't mess with a shooter.

Wade vs Hughes
Before you bash on this matchup, look carefully. Wade is a great offensive player, but Hughes is a defensive specialist. I'm glad I have Hughes on Wade right now, because I know Hughes is a hard nosed player who won't let Wade score easily. Remember, WADE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DRIVE THE BALL IN, limiting him to JUMP SHOTS. Wade is not very fond with this. Hughes is a decent player on offense.

Maggette vs VC
I hope we know who wins here, VC. Say what you about VC being half man half a game, but VC has no pressure on him with such a talented squad surrounding him. VC scored 22-6-5 on one ankle last year. Impressive. Maggette is not known for his defense, so expect Vince to capitalize. Again, remember, MAGGETTE WILL BE LIMITED TO JUMP SHOTS, and he's not very fond of this.

Harrington vs KG
Oh dear, if you name me one advantage Al has over KG, I'll give you a dollar. What Harrington most has is his quickness, but KG is an athletic beast. KG is going to limit Harrington to 0.2 PPG, write it down. Harrington will not be able to stop KG from scoring either. I could see KG having a huge series here.

Thomas vs Shaq
Let's be real, Shaq can be as old as he wants but he's always going to have his size, unless he has some sort of disease. Thomas on the other hand, is really small. How is Thomas going to be able to defense this guy? In this matchup, Shaq can drop 20 points on him easily. Remember, Shaq will be right next to the hoop, all he needs to do is back down Thomas and boom, 2 points.

Heat bench vs Nets bench
Francis, Mobley, Harpring, Thomas, Lopez vs J-Will, Butler, Finley, Thomas, Magloire
My ONLY worry is Mobley, he's their only offensive threat, and he's getting old. I don't think any of them play defense. My bench consists of former starters who are still capable of starting, and playoff experience. We are way better offensively and defensively.

Our players combined have about 7 rings. The Heat have, if I'm not mistaken, one player with a ring, whom is Wade. We dominate when it comes to playoff experience. The Nets beat the Heat defensively and offensively, and that's how you win.

Don't forget, the Heat will only be limited to taking jump shots. This happens with every team that has Shaq if youactually watch basketball, nobody wants to drive it in with his size down there. Can you imagine Shaq and KG? Yikes.

Miami Heat Series Writeup:

Let me just say, look at the rosters and read the writeups. Just because they have Garnett and Carter doesn't mean you should automatically vote for them. Look at all the positions and bench players also.

Position by Position:

PG- This position is pretty even since TJ Ford is considered "injury prone". Last year Terry averaged 15 points but only had 3 assists while Ford averaged 12 points and 6 assists. You also have to realize, when TJ is healthy he is really good. I mean he was the main part of the Jermaine O'neal trade in real life, so hes got to be good. So he may be "injury prone" but maybe this year he'll be healthy and that would be huge for Dwayne Wade.

SG- No contest here. Dwayne Wade is 10 times the player Larry Hughes is. And sure people were concerned with D-wade not being healthy, but he showed he is back in the Olympics. And we all know that any team with Wade on it is going to do good. Last year wasn't his fault, and now i got him some nice players around him.

SF- Now, Raptors fans hate him, but Vince Carter is better Corey Maggette. But, it isn't really that wide of a margin. Corey Maggette averaged 22 points last year with almost 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Vince Carter averaged 21 points and 5 assists. So i'll give the edge to Vince, but only slightly

PF- No contest here. KG is much better then Al Harrington. I dont really have anything else to say.

C- Everyone is going to see Shaq and automatically think, wow they have Shaq too? Well if you think about it, Shaq is not nearly the player he used to be. He is much slower and his legs might not hold up much longer. Kurt Thomas on the other hand has dealt with big named big men his whole life and has done a fine job handling them. I think this position is a wash too.

Bench- I think my bench wins this. Matt Harpring, Roger Mason, Steve Francis, Kenny Thomas, Cuttino Mobley and Robin Lopez is a pretty darn good bench. Mobley and Harpring could start on some teams. Robin is a nice young center who will learn from Kurt Thomas. Roger Mason will be able to come in and score some points for us while Steve Francis will be a nice replacement for TJ.

Overall, I really hope you guys looked at this and looked at his writeup and didn't just look at a few players. Take how the players will perform and matchup into serious consideration. We all put a lot of hard work into this. This series is actually pretty close when you look into it.

Give me the Miami Heat.

I think the Nets are in a world of trouble with Hughes and Carter starting together and Shaq is a mere image of what he used to be. Jason Terry isn't a true PG and I think this team will be upset by the Heat who can push the tempo and wear out a lot of guys on the Nets team.

This is the only match up which I cant easily decide on.
But in the end Nets in 6 or 7 I think.

If you guys read the Nets writeup, you should be pretty convinced

Don't let the Wade-Hughes matchup fool you, that's their only advantage, and Hughes is a defensive specialist

and remember-they'll be limited to jump shots

I like NJ here. Excellent write up for NJ. Definitely had an influence in my vote.

The KG/Harrington matchup sells this one for me. Actually a writeup for both teams this time, wow!

But I do think that Heat players will still be able to attack the bucket. Saying they won't is downplaying the skills of Wade and Maggette. They are too good at slashing to be limited to only jump shots (regardless of who is in the paint). Their drives will be limited but not so substantially that they are simply taking jump shots. If they were to play a nice drive and kick game there could be a lot of open shots for Ford, Harrington and Thomas. Unfortunately Miami doesn't have the shooters around the spread the floor enough (with the exception of Harrington).

New Jersey's low post presence really does hurt the strengths of Miami which is a shame because Wade/Maggette duo would cause fits for almost any team.

Nets, Wade will not be able to dominate with his slashing game with Shaq and KG there. On the other end, Shaq and KG will annihilate KT and Al.

why did you vote for Miami then?

I had to go Miami- I just think that the Nets line-up spells dysfunction. SERIOUS injury concerns at the 2,3 and 5 spots. Terry isn't a PG, and I don't think that he can lead this offense.

Carter played:
76 games last season
82 games the year before
79 the year before that
77, and could of been more but he was traded to the Nets and that took a few games

Hughes isn't a factor in this team, he's just here to provide defense

Shaq doesn't have to work as much as he used to with KG playing with him and has a really strong supporting cast

Terry is a combo guard, and he's a career 5 APG
Hughes is 4 APG
Carter is 5 APG
Williams is 6 APG
Cassell is 6 APG

NEts in 5. easily.

Only one reason needed. KG/Shaq vs Harrington/thomas.

KG and Shaq will have a field day on offense. Not to mention NO ONE will get into the paint against them. Inlcuding D. Wade. Not to mention, they have a prolific scorer in Carter, and hughes and terry can get very hott.

Another lopsided series. Nets all the way. Maybe the heat could steal a game, maybe 2. But in 7, Nets all the way

Heat GM:
Why did you say this:
PF- No contest here. KG is much better then Al Harrington. I dont really have anything else to say.

BIG mistake... at least say Al's perimeter game will give KG problems or something :pity:

why waste his time? Al's perimeter game won't give KG problems :p
