J. Kidd
S. Nash
D. Williams
C. Paul
J. Calderon
B. Davis
A. Miller
C. Billups
T. Parker

I agree, CP3. Nash and Kidd are next.

To me it's between Nash and CP3. Nash is getting kind of old, but the man is simply amazing. CP3 is only 23 and getting better.

Easily CP3, he's deadly on the fastbreak. The next couple would be Nash, Davis, and Kidd.

If we are talking about active players, Nash in his prime. But CP3 as of now, he's still young and Nash's age is getting to him. Then Kidd, then Baron.

Personally, I think Nash and Paul are the best passers right now. Back in the day, J. Kidd was the man. He used to run the fastbreak better then any point guard in the late 90's and early 00's.

In the NBA right now it has to be CP3...Paul runs the break like he knows exactly what hes going to do and is almost successful every time....

All-Time i would have to say Cousy. Ive seen lots of old celtics tapes and games and Man could that guy run an offense.

Being a suns fan I want to say Steve but I think CP3 has got the edge over him. Due to the age factor. Steve still has the best vision.

CP3, Nash, Kidd, B Diddy, D will.

A tie between CP3 and J.Kidd

Cousy was great man, but have you heard of a man named Earvin "Magic" Johnson? lol. He ran the point better then anyone. He was great on the fastbreak, started what was known as "Showtime", I mean no disrespect to Cousy. Bob Cousy was an excellent player.

When Jamaal Tinsley is healthy he is very good at running the break and i'm not just being a homer. not that i would want him over any of the above listed, but he is pretty underrated imo.

There's really three questions here. #1 assist man? Jason Kidd. No one has his court vision or experience. Running the fast break? I'd take Nash every time. Paul's better at penetration, but Nash is almost as good as Kidd at passing, almost as good as Paul at penetration, but he shoots 47% from 3. I'll take a 47% 3pt shot over a 55% 2pt shot any day of the week. Overall point guard I'd want on my team (which I think was the point of the post, just worded strangely)? Tony Parker. He doesn't rack up the assists the other three do, but he's just as good of a scorer as any of them, has active hands, doesn't break down under pressure, and most importantly, he has rings. Plural.

Jamaal Tinsley would have been the #4 assist man in the NBA last year (8.4 per game) if he wasn't benched for the second half of the season. He can run the break, he can run the half court. He just can't run his personal life. One of my favorite players, I'll be sad when he's traded.

I beg to differ... Johny boy!!! Stockton is the all-time... IMO even if Magic played as long as Stockton, Stockton would still be number one!

Deron is pretty good... But as a JAZZ fan Paul is a bit better because of fast break passes... But Dwill is second. He's in a system were u have to make tough and smart passes....

yeah, the Jazz don't run as much, hence his opportunities are not the same. But even in traffic, Paul is better. Plus, Paul is a better scorer, so some of his halfcourt chances are gone due to him having to take it himself

So does Nash, Kidd, and Parker. I think that can be argued about anyone who averages 8+ assists per game, by definition they're making other people better by getting them the ball in scoring position. Parker has rings, and he's still in his prime. I'd take him every time.

Fastbreak

All-time: Magic

Kidd is next. He rebounds, runs, all youve got to do is run with him and position yourself. Miss the KMart days.

Calderon is more of a half court specialist...and even there he's not in the same tier of some of the other players you listed. Fast break, CP3, Nash, and, until he slows riiight down, Kidd.

I'd have to go with Stevie Nash on this one. Everyone keeps talking about his age but heck, the guy still gets up and down the court super quick, and in my opinion knows how to get the ball to the reciever better than anyone else in the NBA (Kidd and Williams a close second and third.)

As far as the all time great goes Magic was wonderful all-round, but Stockton is the all time best at what he did, assist. (15,806 all-time best)

Obviously CP3 is the best PG on the planet.

But for the fastbreak i'd go with Nash simply because he will give you high assists like Chris Paul and he's a much better shooter.

Jason Kidd would be my man for a long long time. Now that I actually have seen Paul develop he would take his spot now. You can't go wrong with how Coach K did it at the Olympics.

Have i heard of Magic??? Who??

Of course ive heard and seen Magic. But Cousy was a magician with the damn ball. Of course the game is different. But the man made crazy passes, dribbled through some of the toughest def. I agree stockton is another big time assist man. Im sill sticking wit Cous all time.

Im going with Derron Williams and Baron Davis, both are good passers and finishers.

even though Steve Nash is getting older and not as fast, he has amazing basketball I.Q. and makes great decisions.

I still think the current best is Chris Paul.

Jose Calderon i remember reading had like A LOT of assists 2 only 1 turn over throughout part of the season. I 4got.
