Who would take the West if you threw in the Mavs 2005-2006 Team, the Kings 2001-2002 Team, the Twolves 2003-3004 Team, the Suns 2006-2007 Team, for the 2008-2009 Season

Elite Teams from past years in the West that were legit contenders that didn't win it all.
'05-06 Dallas Mavericks went 60-22
'06-07 Phoenix Suns went 61-21
'01-02 Sacramento Kings went 61-21
'03-04 Minnesota Twolves went 58-24

Elite teams for 2008-2009 already
'08-09 NO Hornets
'08-09 SA Spurs
'08-09 Houston Rockets
'08-09 Utah Jazz (Didn't change them because they more than likely will be a 4th seed at least)
'08-09 LA Lakers

I used current teams that are already serious contenders and I added 4 more teams in the 2000's from 2001-2002 that were serious contenders.

With that in mind, how would you rank the west if all of those teams were playing for 2008-2009?

It would be hard to bet against any of those teams. I think that Kings team would be on top when its all said and done though

The Kings were so good back in the day...they should have won it all...but they decided to stop making free throws in game 7.

All of those teams are close though.

way to stick it to the fans of those teams. IF Cassell wouldn't have been injured, maybe the Wolves beat the Lakers, and move onto the finals, where they did in fact match up with the Pistons well. But it didn't happen. IF's don't count.

2001-2002 Kings...that team was stacked boy! that might have been the best Kings team ever.

Kings 2001-2002 Team

They couldn't have been beaten by any of those teams

I'll take the 02 Kings then the 07 Suns. I personally thought the Suns would have been champs if Amare and Diaw didn't "leave the immediate vicinity of their bench". Utah the next round? Please.

I agree with you, had Horry not hit Nash I believe that they would have won the championship.

The Kings were so damn good back then. Not sure what the Lakers or Rockets of today would play like though. A healthy Divac/Webber versus a healthy Bynum/Gasol would be pretty fun to watch.

Who knows what would have happened. The Spurs beat the Suns in 3 of the 4 games when they had Amare and Diaw..whos to say they wouldn't have won game 5 if they werent suspended?

You think the Suns this year will be better than the 2006-2007 team that won 61 games?

08-09 Suns

That has to be a joke

I think it'd come down to the Kings, Mavs and probably the Suns with the Kings taking it. 2002 Kings team was beastly.
