Wes Welker (ribs) returned to Patriots practice Sunday.

He could still very well be listed as "limited" all week, then questionable on Friday, but this is a positive sign. Expect Welker to face Kansas City.

well, i hope its not a huge Blowout, I would like to see Flowers vs. Moss, I think its a good matchup, I know you guys dont because he is a rookie, but hes no average rookie. He only allowed 4 catches all preseason, shut down Boldin,Fitzgerald, and a few others, but Im certainly not expecting him to hold moss to 0 catches haha

talk about a welcome to the NFL moment, "Hey rookie your first assignment is......Randy Moss." u know the guy who caught 23 TDs last year.

i wonder how many teams feel that good about their rookie CBs. Wheatley is getting high praise around here already.

Tom Brady (foot) reiterated Monday that he fully intends to play in the Patriots' regular season opener.

Brady is practicing and in no apparent danger of missing the game. "If it's up to me, there's no question" he said. "I've been getting progressively better over the past couple of weeks. I'm excited to start the year."

The game will be closer than people think. Brady being hurt = Don't believe the hype. It doesn't matter anyways The Pats are on the way down. There Rein of cheating is all don't and if you don't think that it effected them how come when when of their stars leave they turn into busts. Law, Milloey, Ben Coates, Branch, Pattern and Antwain Smith. With the pats they put up career numbers once they leave they are not heard from again. Ty Law yea you hear about him but not as much as before.

samuel will be a bust as well. he got his $$$. good for the kid, he worked for it. but he is not the player ppl think he is. Hobbs covered the top guys even wen samuel was here.

as for this game, the Chiefs are a bad team and it will be an easy win. they are rebuilding and have basically a rookie QB and an O-line going through changes. not to mention their defense isnt good by any means.

They didn't know anyone's calls from the moment Walsh was discovered with the camera, but it didn't stop the Pats from kicking the crap out of most of the teams they faced last season.

Try a little less baiting and padding especially when in a Pats forum. We don't take kindly to it. And I wouldn't do it on your teams forum.

Another one? Are you serious? I thought we left all this crap in the dust a few months ago. Spygate's over - Get Over It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Law: Career high 10 picks and a Pro Bowl appearance when he went to the Jets. The problem is that Herm Edwards can crash a team like no ones' business. He was handed a playoff team in KC and drove it into the ground. Law is HOF bound so how can you say he's a bust?

Coates: I may be mistaken but wasn't he inducted into the Pats personal HOF, or something like that just this year? Yeah, busts do that.

Branch: Not a very good QB on his new team ANDDDDDDDD he has injury issues. Not his fault. Not like he's dropping everything or running crap routes.

Please do your homework before you rant and try baiting people. I'm not even a Pats fan...but this type of crap annoys me.

Defensively you don't need to be probowl players in new england you just have to be smart and be where you are suppose to be. Branch and patten had Brady throwing them the ball, just like gaffney if he were to leave new england he would disappear to. antwain smith was never that good he was decent, and his best years were when brady was their, having a good Qb takes the pressure off of the running game, by opening holes.

That is old news. They just went 18-1 without knowing other team's signals. Anyway, the Patriots should win this game fairly easily, I don't think it will be entirely in blow out fashion though. Brady's health is a question mark right now and the o-line is still feeling the effects of injuries. If Larry Johnson can have a great game then Kansas City has a chance to win, but I'm not sure Croyle is capable of pulling it off.

averaged 30+ minutes a game on the field, Kansas City continued its defensive ascent under Edwards and Cunningham a year ago, leading the NFL in third-down defense (30.2%) and negative plays forced (121), while allowing a league-low one TD drive of 10 plays or more. In total, the Chiefs ranked among the NFL’s top five in nine different key defensive categories in 2007.

The Chiefs were especially stingy in terms of scoring defense a year ago. Kansas City ranked second in the league, permitting TDs on just 14.5 percent of its defensive possessions and also ranked second in Red Zone defense (37.2 TD percentage). Kansas City tied for third in the league by allowing only 28 offensive TDs, the club’s best showing in that category since ‘97.

Doesnt sound like a good defense, considering old *** Ty law and surtain back their. This year the defense made strides, even without JA....We sucked against the run, but dorsey has already shown hes a stout run stopper, as is tank tyler. You want to see the changes? Look at last years starting defense vs. This years defense...

Herm was not handed a playoff team in KC, here are some events that happened once he was their. No specific order.

His O-line was the average age of 34.
The teams average age was 33.
Willie Roaf retired(one of the greatest LTs)
Will Shields retired(of the greatest guards).
Trent Green was injured in the first game of the season.
He had no WRs, only Tony G
LJs first starting year.
Defense was ranked 31st when he arrived.
Our best WR was a 33 year old man..named Eddie Kennison.
priest holmes got hurt and retired.
The center got injured, and had no good replacements.
Kyle Turley was our RT....or Jordan Black, neither has a job...
Welbourn took over at RG with shields gone, hes no longer on a team..
No depth on the O-line when he arrived.
He had surtain..as our best CB
Then brought in Law

So exactly how was this a playoff team?
Kc was doomed prior to Edwards, which is why they brought in Herm, because they knew they would have to rebuild.

I can see them running the ball alot. Especially with Morris healthy and jordan now on the team. Welker will probably see little play time since hes questionable. Majority of the passes will go to moss and gaffney.

I was actually lucky enough to get some tickets for this game last night. So excited.......This will be the first pats game I attend. Anyone with experience going to pats games? How much traffic should i expect coming from boston? Is there a time you would recommend to start heading down to gillette?

You want to get there as soon as the parking gates open so that you can do some tailgating. That is half the fun of going to a game the cook outs watching peiple and meeting other people. I like that part as much as the actual game. The gates usually open 6 ( someone tell me if i am wrong 9AM ) hours prior to game time. As for the trip back to Boston don't be in a hurry and enjoy the crawl it will be a long haul . Have fun at the game.

my family has had season tixs forever, so i have been going since i was young. i would recommend getting there as soon as the gates open, to beat some of the traffic. since it is a 1 o'clock game...i wanna say that we leave worcester just before 8, so that we get there just before 9 (I think the lots open then). Obv. the later you go, the more traffic...so get there early to tailgate :drunk::cheers:

In a shockingly transparent moment, Patriots coach Bill Belichick said he expects Tom Brady (foot) to be "ready to go" against the Chiefs in Week 1. Brady was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
"He's practicing and I expect he'll be ready to go," Belichick said in a conference call with K.C. media. Belichick added that Brady will practice all week. There was a wishy-washy Boston radio report that Brady has a cracked foot, but he seems certain to play in the drool-inducing matchup.

Wes Welker is not on the Patriots' Week 1 injury report.
There was previously some concern about Welker's ribs, but he will play against the Chiefs. As a slot receiver, Welker is often covered by opposing nickel backs. Kansas City's nickel is fifth-round rookie Brandon Carr.

Ben Watson was held out of Patriots practice Wednesday with a knee injury.
We wouldn't count on Watson playing on opening day. The extent of his injury is unknown. David Thomas appears in line to start against the Chiefs.

Ben Watson (knee) missed Patriots practice for the second straight day Thursday.
We're not counting on seeing Watson against the Chiefs. The Patriots rarely use players on game day that haven't at least practiced on a limited basis.

Patriots declared TE Ben Watson, OLB Shawn Crable, OT Wesley Britt, C/G Dan Connolly, WR C.J. Jones, WR Sam Aiken, DL Le Kevin Smith, and QB Kevin O'Connell inactive for Week 1.

I'm telling you we should let Brady heal up and sign a veteran til the bye week. Cassell could probably win 4 of the 5 games til the bye week. That was a nice pass by Cassell to Moss.

Wow when Matt Cassell is in with the starters he looks pretty damn good. We all doubted the BB when he kept Cassell but, it looks like once again the front office knew what they were doing. That's why they're up there and we're down here I guess. Great touchdown pass Matty!

The Patriots should rest Brady until the bye week. Cassell looks pretty good. I think he could win the 1st 4 games until he faces San Diego week 5. Then it's a bye week 6 and, Brady should be good to go after that. I haven't seen much of Tyronne Wheatley. Has he played?

That last play was definitely not pass interference. When the ball is in the air the receiver and corner both have the right to go after it. There was a little pushing by both guys but, O'Neal was going for the ball and he has every right to do so. The announcers said the same thing.

i understand the call about having the same right.....but i beleive denying the right of the WR by holding his hands down while your running back with him...does qualify as pass interference...when I find the replay...ill gladly show you.....

How did Matt cassel look after Brady was hurt?

he looked like how a below average quarterback looks with a superior offense against one of the worst teams in the league.

Cassell gets a C-.

Bottom line is he cant throw the long ball, often misplaces the ball on intermediate routes, and isn't mobile enough to counteract his indecisiveness. Now in all fairness you could say the same thing about Brady in 2001, but I just don't see that raw competitive streak, or passion for football that allowed Brady to succeed while he was starting out.

If the grim prognostications are correct- Maroney/Morris/Jordan will allow this team to win as many as 7-11 games this year. But this is not a championship defense like the 2001 Patriots, and there are at least 4 teams in the Conference who WILL brutalize a brady-less Pat's ball club.

I remember saying on this board that picking up Chad Pennington wouldnt be such a bad idea as a back-up to Tom Brady. I guess now with him out, it looks like getting him would have been a very shrewd and smart move by BB. But unfortunately he is now the starting QB for the Fins. And if you watched last nights game, he is still a good QB
